Antique DERBY QUADRUPLE SILVER PLATE Toothpick/Match Holder Gunmetal Finish-2300
Antique Derby Silver Company Quadruple Plate Toothpick/Match Holder. It is a unique BULLDOG and Ruffle holder at it's side. I believe it is what is know as a gunmetal finish and is marked on the bottom and numbered what looks like 2300. The bottom is worn. Slightly hard to read. The little dog has applied stone eyes and is missing his right foot. It ends near the top of leg so it is not greatly noticeable. The bowl section has tiny little pinprick indention marks on it. This is a cute toothpick holder. The bottom says QUADRUPLE PLATE AURORA SP. MFG.WARRANTED in a circle and then has the number 348 stamped into it. I haven't tried to clean it at all. The only defect I see is that the bottom rim is a little dented on one side. It seems like it is soft enough to mold out but I can't tell and I don't want to harm it. This is a somewhat rare antique quadruple silverplate Victorian age figural toothpick and/or matchstick holder from the 1800's. It is in pretty good condition. As you can see from the photo's. The top of the cup is out of round and it could use a professional cleaning. I personally would display it just the way it is. Other than that, it looks good. It is made by the Derby Silver Company. It has their logo on the bottom along with the number 2302. The cup is 2 1/8" tall and approximately 2" in diameter at the top. The figural lady is 3 3/8" tall.
