A PRETTY VICTORIAN BEDFORDSHIRE BOBBIN LACE COLLAR & A SMALL JABOT - Hand Made
A very pretty Victorian hand made Bedforshire bobbin lace collar. Which has lappet shaped pieces at each end. It is 23" 58.5cm) long and 1 1/2" 4cm) deep at the back and the lappet pieces are 3" 7.5cm) deep. It is in very good vintage condition and I cannot see any breaks. There are two small areas of light discolouration. But the collar looks like it has had very little use. Also a small piece of jabot shaped tulle which is edged with hand made Bedfordshire lace. It is 6 1/4" 1 6 cm) long and 6" 15cm) wide. It is in very good vintage condition and shows no sign of use. I am happy to post abroad and always combine postage where ever possible. In this auction I have a fabulous Old Cotton lace lace which is ecri in colour. The piece measures 2 metres in this old traditional cluny design. It is made with quality Heavy gauge cotton. This lace is 4½ inches wide with one scalloped and one straight edge. We as a family are' Very' proud to be the makers of the lace on Kate Middletons- The Duchess of Cambridge. Royal Wedding Dress and underskirt. We also made the Trims that were on the Bridesmaids dresses on the collar,cuffs and around the bottom of the beautifully made little dresses. We are a small family run firm which has been making beautiful British laces for over 200 years and are still using the same machines and techniques used all those years ago. You can see if you look closely in the picture the lace is not completely'flat' as the pattern. In this case, the flower, it is outlined on the surface of the lace. This is the same in all my laces. So, there are two sides to all my laces with the'outlined' side always being sewn uppermost on the object or garment. We are very proud of the laces we still make today and I don't think you will find any better cotton laces in the world. that this lace is NOT flimsy nylon but best quality cotton. I don't know what type of lace the other pieces are. I have put a tape measure in the pictures to give you an idea of the size. The net piece has some damage but the other pieces appear to be in good condition- please supersize the pictures to judge the condition for yourself.
