Circa 1910. They were discovered on a local house clearance here in Brighton, still wrapped in the original brown paper package from Messrs. Mifsud, 140 Strada Santa Lucia, Valletta. Dates on this package are 1907 and 1909. I think this was probably brought back to England as a souvenir by a British serviceman in Malta during WW1. They are made of very fine linen. Trimmed with silk Maltese lace. Each one measures 25 cm. square. They have never been used, so condition is as new. Antique lace shawl. Hand worked, 19th century, Maltese? This lace shawl measures 76" x 76" It appears to be made from cotton and is completely hand worked. I would say that there are approximately 11 breaks in the lace. The largest of which I have tried to show in the photos. There are also a few small breaks on the scalloped edge(approximately 9, the largest one is 1/2" This lace shawl has been very finely worked but does not feel brittle. The overall impression suggests that it has not been used in the past but just stored. It is as found. Postage in the UK and anywhere else in the world FREE! The handkerchief to the left of main photo has a bad pull at the one corner otherwise just a very few very minor pulls, it measures 14 inches(35cm 5mm) square, the other handkerchief has minor pulls and the silk centre has some tiny holes, it measures 12 inches(31cm) square. ANTIQUE 19THC HM DELICATE BRUSSELS LACE VEIL & FINE BEDFORDSHIRE MALTESE CUFF
This is for a delicately designed small applied Brussels bobbin lace veil with point fillings and a fine Bedfordshire Maltese lace cuff. The veil is very pretty with finely well done motifs and lovely point fillings. It however does have scattered small breaks to the delicate net. So NOT perfect, please see pics. The cuff is finely done and has a very delicate light quality. So a nice example of this type lace. It is in near perfect condition. With no stains or breaks, just a couple of loose threads at one end. The veil measure approx. 29" long x 19" at it's widest. The cuff is approx. 10" long x 3.25" at it's widest. Both are a soft white color. With the cuff perhaps slightly more creamy. Please feel free to ask any questions.

For Your Consideration 4 Antique Mid-Victorian Handmade Black Maltese Lace Flounces/ Trims dated to around 1870- For re-use on antique or reproduction dresses or on dolls clothing Description. These 4 handmade black Maltese lace flounces/trims were almost certainly removed from the skirt part of a dress that dates to the late 1860s or early 1870s(please see the fashion plates below that show such trims on gowns dating to 1870 and 1871) The trims are made of what I think is silk thread. The lace shows a continuous flower. Foliage, swirl and Maltese cross design. The flounces are all different lengths. The flounces measure as follows: Flounce 1: ca. 9.5" ca. 24.5 cm) high and ca. 26" ca. 66 cm = 1.17ft) long Flounce 2: ca. 9.5" ca. 24.5 cm) high and ca. 33" ca. 84 cm = 2.75ft) long Flounce 3: ca. 9.5" ca. 24.5 cm) high ... moreand ca. 40.5" ca. 1.03 m = 3.38ft) long Flounce 4: ca. 9.5" ca. 24.5 cm) high and ca. 69" ca. 1.75 m = 5.75ft) long The flounces/trims are in fair to good condition. This exquisite item has hand made Maltese lace in the form of four large butterflies, one in each corner, plus a 4.1/2" deep Maltese lace edge. The lace is absolutely stunning as it depicts not only the Maltese cross and the ears of wheat which identify this wonderful hand made lace. But it has an unusual long stemmed large flower in each corner of the lace which has a depth of 6.1/4" measured at the corners. This rare find was extremely dirty with age/storage when obtained and I have very gently laundered the cloth by hand in an appropriate washing solution but there remains part of a soil mark and other small and ... morefaint marks which I feel sure further time and perserverence will remove. I do think perhaps its original use was as a table runner for special formal occasions, but it is wonderful no matter which way you use it. When laid flat and gently pressed with the hand. MEASURED right down the middle it 74" long. The corners/ends are a little bit longer, due to the pattern and weave as you can see in the photos. Width is also slightly wider at the ends/corners. The ends are approximately 27" wide and the center is closer to 22" in width and it gradually gets a little wider as you reach the end areas. Antique handmade silk Maltese Lace wedding veil or shawl. This is truly gorgeous! Extra long and extra lovely. It measures 16 x 100 inches- that's over 8 feet of beautiful. Color is light ecru(last photo for best color) Excellent condition. Likely never used, stored extremely well. Acquired from an antique dealer, and it appears to have been professionally cleaned very recently. I note a few loose threads, a small and faint storage spot. This lace looks amazing.

Here are two matching beautiful cream silk Maltese bobbin lace handkerchiefs. They have the fat wheatears and Maltese cross characteristic of this lace incorporated in the design. There is a circle of cream silk in the centres of the hankies. The pictures don't do justice to the sheen and rich colouring of the silk. They are both in very good condition. One hanky has some light staining in the centre and the other has a small break on the edge and in the stitching on the silk centre(pic 4) They both have the owners initials sewn on in one corner which can easily be removed(last pic) Happy bidding and good luck. Set of 4 beautiful antique Maltese lace handkerchief. A set of 4 beautiful antique Maltese silk lace handkerchief. Sold as found. There are 3 matching and the fourth is different. 3 are square with a star centre. One as a couple of small holes in the centre approx. 33cm wide, And the other is 29cm wide with a round centre. All are the traditional cream/wheat colour darker than the photo's show. All in good fresh and bright condition. There some slight storage marks on one or two and some may have. Some loose threads(which I'll try to look at) but overall very good. Quite rare to find 3 the same together! For more great items! Please pay within 3 days of the auction finishing.
