In this auction I have a fabulous Old Cotton lace edging which is white in colour. The lace measures 5 metres long with an old traditional cluny design. It is made with quality Heavy gauge cotton. This lace is 6½" inches wide with one straight edge and one crown front scalloped edge. This has recently been used on the bust of the dresses of a well known USA fashion designer. We as a family are' Very' proud to be the makers of the lace on Kate Middletons- The Duchess of Cornwalls. Royal Wedding Dress and underskirt. We also made the Trims that were on the Bridesmaids dresses on the collar,cuffs and around the bottom of the beautifully made little dresses. Is owned and managed by the eighth and ninth generations of my family– we were already framework knitters and flax dressers by the 1730s and started making lace when this fabric was first produced by machines in the 1760s, at the start of the Industrial Revolution. Throughout the last one hundred and fifty years our company Cluny Lace has continued to build up a data bank of hundreds of lace patterns. By combining the best of old traditions with new technology we are still able to produce in a wide range of exquisite designs of Leavers Cluny style lace allovers, edgings and insertions and Leavers Fine Cotton Valenciennes style lace allovers, edgings, galloons and insertions. Many of the lace patterns still used today were designed and draughted by the sixth and seventh generations of the family. No other manufacturer in the world produces the same range of patterns and these patterns are unique to us. This pair has each been deeply hemmed at their tops but they seem to have been stored for about a century and not used. Each panel is a medium tan and has much lace at the bottom consisting of machine made filet lace figural insets as well as hand made knotted lace insets set in as diamond shapes. Bottom edges are scalloped and they are trimmed with ... moremachine made Cluny lace at the edges. One of the panels has two decorative pulls at the bottom. The main textile is a sheer woven cotton. Condition is excellent for each panel although there are is a barely visible mark or two on each. Each one measures 61" long but there are deep hems at the top that can be taken down for an additional 8" Which makes them the same length as the single unhemmed panel listed separately. Vintage- approx around 40/50s fabulous blind/curtain very popular in Netherlands in the country side. It has been made of fine 100% cotton in its natural form- very old fabric in pure-white color typical for that period edged top and bottom in delicate white&blue cotton bobbin lace with lovely basket designed with the same lace insert. The matching oval shaped runner has been made from same old fabric cotton edged with matching cotton white& blue lace. Middle insertion- very well made. These are lovely and rare collectible items for the vintage linen lovers, fabulous for cottage/ farm/ country style house. The condition for both of them is lovely. This drape is a very light cream color. All cotton. There is fringe along the bottom. No rod pocket on the top. Was designed to use curtain clips Not including the fringe it measures 104" L x 88" W and the fringe is about 7" long. Nice length to use or to cut at the top to your needed size. There are several breaks and holes throughout ranging from rice size to about penny size. A couple repairs in the net lace ranging from about 1" to 5" long, a couple reapirs in the other lace, and some wear around the edges, most at one end that also includes a couple repairs on the edges. Antique heavy cotton valance curtain lace Victorian Edwardian. 9.5" x 72" length heavy cotton valance with a 1.5" turning for a curtain pole or rod with additional loops along the top. A very few small rust marks and tiny hole in one at the top. A few of the loose cotton strings are missing but on the whole good condition. As this is an original vintage item it may have some other age related issues which is only to be expected as vintage is very rarely perfect.
