These things have been in storage for over 30 years& I need to pass them on to someone else who will appreciate them- either in their present condition or re-purposed as trim on newer items. This is an elegant. Large, guipure lace collar, dating from the early 20th century. It is unwashed. A soft ivory colour, with a little discoloration here and there. Good condition, feels quite crisp and obviously little used. Item Description& Condition: Victorian/ Edwardian Lace Pelerine/ Cape- Carrickmacross Guipure I believe that the main part of the Pelerine's lace may be called Carrickmacross Guipure with motif inserts and that the collar may be chemical lace. However I am not very familiar with these laces so please study the photos carefully to make up your own mind. The Collar has an extra narrow band of lace just around the neckline- this may be to give it a bit of support? As you can see from the ... morephotos the collar could if desired stand up a little or fold over as usual. If the first is desired perhaps a little starch will help it for a stiffer efffect. However, it has also been made from three sections so it may be possible that it could have had bones originally? There is a hook and eye at the neck. In my opinion it is in very good used condition. No major damage- the eye needs a few stitches to tighten and there are a number of mainly minor issues commensurate with usage. I have shown a few examples which were spotted whilst taking the photos. Size: I am unsure how to measure this for a bust size. The model is a 32" bust. approx. 22.50" deep. 17.50" neckline. A very rare and superb condition large antique Rosaline Perlee Duchesse lace collar which was purchased from a closing down museum in America a couple of years ago. I think it dates from the 1800's. Measuring 25 x 20-1/2 inches including the 3-1/2 inch ruffled edging all the way around. This sham features a combination of French laces. The center, a filet with the figure of Jupiter, surrounding Jupiter are hand embroidered cutwork details and exquisite handmade Guipure lace in a scrolling floral pattern. The cotton batiste ruffled trim is edged with 1 inch Guipure lace. The backing is cotton batiste with a 2 button closure accomodating a pillow appx 17 x 14 inches. This sham is very old and has suffered little damage over time. From what I could find, there ... moreare 3 small holes within the ruffles, an easy fix, 2 small darned stitched repairs at one of the cutwork areas and 1 darned stitched repair within a ruffle. 3 vintage(I think) pieces of pink Guipure lace. Three very nice pieces of decorative lace. All are the same pattern, two are short pieces the third is quite long. 1st piece measures approx 120cms long 2nd piece measures approx 35cms long 3rd piece measures approx 30cms long All are approx 10cms wide The lace is in a very pretty shade of pink. These pieces have been removed from something, they do have small cotton threads still attached and there is some minor yellowing in parts, a motif join unravel on a smaller piece, please see photos.
