Not a bright white. As none of the beautiful lace in this lot were, but a lovely thing. It measures 14" deep at the centre back. By 66" long in total. Not for wearing. A lovely mid to late 19th century Brussels lace wedding handkerchief c.1860. It has a fine lawn centre with beautiful lace border ~ needs just a little amount of TLC to make it even more perfect ~ two of the corners have lost their infills and brides. And there is one small area that needs a stitch and has lost a few brides ~ shown in the photographs. It has a couple of areas on the lawn that have thinned a little but not split. Would be ideal for framing or re-working. Very clean with 1 teeny feint mark that barely shows otherwise no stains or age discolouration that is obvious. It measures approx. 33cm square. A superb wide and long length of antique Brussels hand applique insertion lace featuring flowers leaves swirls and many pretty dots too. It measures 60 x 2 1/2 inches and is in superb strong condition with no holes or stains. It is a pale antique white colour. It is rare nowadays to find such a long and wide as well as beautifully detailed piece of this type of lace. It's just lovely. It dates from around 1880. This superb lace piece is a high quality 3-dimensional Point de Gaze needle lace with the buttonhole stitches and raised outlines. It is a beautiful floral pattern with raised cording stitched details. Very finely woven between the design. The color is a light creamy ivory, see the photo on white paper for the best color tone. This is finished on all sides, it is a panel or trim piece and not a collar. It is 33" long, 4 1/2" wide in the center, one end is 7" wide and the other end is 9 1/2" wide, it is not symmetrical. A fine lavish Brussels lace. Entirely hand crafted, slightly off white in colour. The condition is excellent with only a couple of single bride breaks. So tiny they are lost amongst the detailed lace. There is no discolouring or stains. Large enough to be used as a scarf. Measures 137cm or 54" long. 13cm or 5" wide. Silk lined with amazing needlework of Spiderweb mesh ground and pretty Flowers. Each Cuff has 2 small Mother of Pearl Buttons. Scalloped edge. Cream in colour. Some damage to the silk around the top. It does look as though the owner has cut some silk away but they are both the same, so not sure if they are meant to be. These are truly beautiful and need to be owned by a collector. A BEAUTIFUL VICTORIAN BRUSSELS APPLIQUE LACE WEDDING VEIL
A beautiful Victorian Brussels lace appliqué wedding veil. The hand made bobbin lace motifs have been applied onto machine made net and needle made embellishment is added to the centre of the flowers. Although it is a square veil. I think it is meant to be worn'on point' as there are matching designs in three corners and a different one in the fourth corner. There are flower motifs scattered over all the veil and the edges are slightly scalloped. Some of the flower and leaf designs have raised gimp outlines on them. The veil is approximately 70" 178cm) x 64" 163cm) but needs to be re-blocked to make it square again. It is in very good vintage condition with a few small breaks in the tulle, the worst area is shown in the last picture. There is also a small repair which is so neat, it must have been done a long time ago. ... moreThere are also three small rust spots. I have shown the veil over a length of turquoise silk, so that everything can be seen clearly, but the breaks are far too small to be seen in use.
