Antique Childs Fine Lawn Petticoat A/F Broderie Anglaise Lace For Crafts, Dolls
This week I am continuing my sale of Antique Victorian& Edwardian Lace Children's clothes from my own collection. None of them have ever been on sale before as they belonged to the Mother of a friend who is in her 80s. And they remained in the family until they were given to me. I am not a business seller, I am just selling a lot of my own pieces in order to have some holidays this year after last years surgery and chemo and also to make more space for my own artwork. Description of the item An Edwardian Cotton Lawn Childs Petticoat. This pretty little garment could be used as a garment but I am listing it as for craft as the lace around the armholes and neck is torn with darns under the arms and some attention is needed to the seams which join the skirt to the bodice. However. The lovely soft cotton lawn fabric is in usable condition, ... moreand is a very good white colour as is the deep gathered frill which is trimmed with a row of herringbone embroidery above the 2" deep machine made broderie anglaise lace edging.the measurement around the hem is 54" and the frill is 7" deep, so there is plenty of fabric in it. Out of interest. The other measurements are: chest 28" length 18" The garment has a deep back opening and there are 5 linen covered buttons as closures.only 2 are good, and there is a drawstring present in the neckband. It is clean and fresh from careful storage in a smoke free home. Condition Report. Torn(handmade) bobbin lace at the neck and armholes. Darns under the arms.
