Exquisite pair of ivory Brussels lace flounces. Soft to the touch. Measurements are approximate; depth is 15" for both, one piece is 43" long, the other 32" long. It has star sprigged ends, and a similar pattern occurs all around the top edge. There is a flounce of very pretty edging lace. The veil is 40cm wide and 250cm long. It has a lushly embroidered lower edge- leaves and flowers. There are scalloped edges. And floral motifs along the side edges. The entire veil is sprigged with tiny floral motifs. It is freshly laundered and snowy white- in excellent condition with no marks ... moreor stains, and just one tiny hole(last photograph) which is easy to disguise with a stitch as another flower sprig! The veil is 104cm wide and 92cm long. You could thread a fine ribbon through the top edge, and let the sides dip down into points- or wear it attached to a hair comb or headdress. It is ivory in color and features an elaborate array of appliqued lace on net with buttonholed rings and tambour embroidery. It is lined in net lace. Measurements: End of veil. Side to side: 86-inches; around outside of the cap: 22-inches; length of veil from under the cap to the middle end: 32-inches; side of veil from end of cap to the bottom: 30 inches. This veil is in very good condition. No stains. There is a small area, as shown, where the applique needs to re-attached. Also, there may be a few very small holes in the net, though not obvious. LGE BREATHTAKING ANTIQUE BRUSSELLS LACE FLOUNCE WEDDING VINTAGE HAREBELLS VEIL++
I am told that this lace is c1880 and either English. Brussels or maybe even Scottish and that it is handmade. It measures an incredible 298 x 32cm in a long oblong shape and feels almost as light as a feather. I find the design/pattern to be incredibly modern looking somehow with the large wavy swirl patterns at the bottom and circles of pretty flowers which I think are Harebells and Roses amongst others. I've never seen a similar antique lace. I think it may be museum quality. All of the flowers. Leaves and swirls etc are very finely detailed. I have owned it for a couple of years and just simply enjoy having it to look at. It does not have any staining and is a pale antique white colour. It is still very strong but does have a few small holes. But these are not very noticeable, just the odd one here and there and they could be quite ... moreeasily tidied up if necessary. The heading tape has come away in places and there are two short repaired tears at the top. The whole piece is photoed horizontally in the three similar looking pictures. Antique Lace Wedding Veil Shawl Irish Limerick French Embroidered Net Lace This is a lovely veil or shawl and would be perfect for a wedding. I believe it is either Irish or French. The motifs reminiscent of harps lead me to believe Irish. Embroidered Tulle Net was popular in many places in Europe during the 19th century. The edging work. Net ground and motifs are particularly delicate as the work is done on a very fine(small) netted ground and it's precise. The edge has just enough decoration and tiny scallop to give this more of an interest than straight edge. At 21 inches wide, it's sufficient for a veil as opposed to just a shawl. Condition is near excellent. About as perfect as you're going to find for a piece this age and with this fine a gauge. There are no holes or tears one tiny tan spot smaller than the eraser on a number ... more2 pencil, you have to really search for it, it's faint and barely evident. Net ground is a very very fine cotton, light airy& delicate. Hand embroidered motifs. It's quite lovely, workmanship is wonderful. Satisfaction guaranteed as always. Victorian and Edwardian costume and accessories from a country house estate in SW Scotland as well as some of the unusual items I acquired at the auctions I attended across the UK recently. I am also laundering and sorting out the remaining boxes of textiles and ephemera from France- including some fabulous antique fabrics for projects- and am busy planning my next buying trip at the beginning of April! I am listing several items of antique Victorian Honiton lace this week- all from the same family. This is an unusual short wedding veil- the appliques are unlike any other Honiton pattern I have come across. Yet it had a note attached, proclaiming it ... moreto be Honiton lace. It is 123cm wide and 75cm deep- densely worked with appliques along the bottom edge, as well as the sides, and sprigged with star shaped appliques. The top edge is raw- easily attached to a fine linen or silk ribbon, or gathered on to a headpiece or comb. Because it is so wide, it dips down into two points when worn on the back of the head- so pretty. It is freshly laundered and snowy white, with no marks or stains. Up for Sale a Superb Antique Ivory Victorian Edwardian Bridal Veil Stole. Description: Stole is made out of silk satin. I believe this fabric is called liquid silk. Trimmed with a fabulous wide soft French lace. Stole is double lined with a light silk chiffon as shown in pic# 7. Head end as shown in pic 4. While pic 5 shows the reverse side. Pic 5 shows the two sides of the stole. Measurements: 75" long 15" wide on one end 24 wide at bottom end Center part of veil is 25" wide. Alencon trim lace is 3" wide Condition: One tiny spot on the trim as seen in pic 8. One minor spot on the chiffon reverse side of veil as shown in last pic. Alencon trim lace has some small tears. I counted a total of 14( including minor pinhead tears) A couple lace tears are 2.5" on the corner and they are located by the head as shown in pics ... more9.10,11.These need repair. The Headdress which is a small circlet of Flowers and Leaves is attached to the Veil but could be taken off if required. The Headdress has an elastic band to hold it in place while being worn. The Veil is Ivory Coloured Tulle and is plain and Very Full. This Veil measures approx. 340" all the way around the outside edge. At present with the sewn on Headdress the Veil is approx. from the top of the Headdress 80" down the back and approx. 25" over the front of the Face. I have photographed the Veil pinned up the back on some of the photographs because the length was difficult to photograph) Condition. MASSIVE ANTIQUE HAND EMBROIDERED FRENCH LACE SHAWL VEIL VINTAGE WEDDING
A TRULY beautiful and very large antique lace shawl(which maybe could be styled as a veil too as it is very fine and light weight with such delicate detailing) which I guess originates from France(I found it in France at a country house sale years ago. But it could be from elsewhere I guess) I am not sure of its age but I would think 100+ years easily. It is covered in beautiful floral patterns and has a very attractive border all the way around. The thing I like best about this shawl is how tiny the stitches are, making the flowers, leaves and all other details dense instead of loose. I think it may be tambour stitching. It is a lovely soft antique white/ivory. It measures an incredible 332 x 62cm(approx 132 x 25 inches) It is in good. A Superb cathedral length antique hand made Brussels Princess lace wedding veil in cream. This larger than usual veil drapes beautifully. And features an ornate floral motif with interconnected vines, greenery and floral sprays along the entire perimeter, and is finished off with an ornate scalloped edge all around. Oval shaped, measures 57" inches X 121" inches and is finished all around. All the treasures from my last two trips to France will be arriving here shortly, but in the meantime I am listing some gorgeous things from recent auctions and as my stock of antique quilts is low, I shall be visiting my lovely“quilt lady” From a private collection- I have 3 wonderful antique French wedding veils listed this week. All date to the 1880s. Freshly laundered and snowy white, there are no marks, stains or damage. The cap or crown of the veil is made from fine white cotton, and the surrounding tulle ... morelace is all hand embroidered. There is a drawstring at the back of the veil. The length of veil from the crown to the bottom edge at the front is 21cm. This will fit any head size, as the cap part can be adjusted with the drawstring. This pretty wedding veil has Point d' Esprit(Swiss dots) allover and is embroidered depicting garlands and scrolls. Floral vines. Delicate sprigs and leaves. The veil is slightly scallopped all the way round. The scallops are more prominent at the base of the train and at the face part. The design in the centre of the train of the veil is densely worked, gradually tapering off upwards to nothing. The veil is embroidered with a 7" deep border all the way round with delicate floral vines. Sprigs and swirls and flowers and finished off with a tiny 1/4" lace edging. This veil is very long and measures 108" x 20" wide This veil is lavishly embroidered with the most exquisite designs. Some of the embroidery designs on the veil vary in density. The end parts of the veil are intricately embroidered with lush openworked floral motifs. Flowers and sprays, tapering off towards the middle part of the veil. The middle part of the veil measures approx. 24" This part of the veil has a regular design of 2" x 1 1/2" The edge of this veil is slightly scallopped and has an embroidered edge of which the border measures 1 1/2" deep. Stunning antique French handmade lace tulle embroidered wedding shawl mantilla veil. Costume and accessories from two large country houses in SW Scotland, as well as many of the brocante treasures I brought back from France in May. I am continuing to sort and launder the boxes of textiles and ephemera from this trip, and am rather unsuccessfully trying to clear space in my studio… I return to France on 7 th August for some really special antique markets. So do keep popping back to see what I have unearthed! This is one of the finest antique French wedding shawls. Veils or mantillas I have come across recently. It is exquisite- even the tulle or filet background is hand netted, suggesting this is a ... morevery early piece. It is freshly laundered and snowy white, with no marks or stains. I can spot just one or two small breaks in the net ground(last 2 photographs) which I think could be easily remedied with a well-placed stitch or two. The scrolling floral motifs are all hand embroidered on to the net- so pretty. It measures 75cm wide x 259cm long. It could be used as a veil, a wrap or a shawl. Edged with a handmade lace border, with densely embroidered motifs at each end, this really is a special piece- perfect for a special bride-to-be! More photographs below. PLEASE READ. Freshly laundered and snowy white, there are no marks, stains or damage. The cap ... moreor crown of the veil is made from embroidered tulle, and the edge is finished off with handmade Lille lace. There is a ribbon run around the front of the veil at the top- I imagine this would have been threaded with a silk ribbon, perhaps with a rosette at each side. The length of veil from the crown to the bottom edge at the front is 35cm- it is shorter at the back. This will fit any head size, as the cap part can be adjusted with a ribbon. A very pretty and long antique Victorian tambour lace shawl or veil possibly. Covered in exquisite little flowers and dots and with elaborate ends, many of the dots are raised giving it a prettily textured finish. It measures approx 94 x 9 inches and is in good strong antique condition with only a few loose threads but these could easily be tidied up and one or two marks but these are hardly noticeable and they may come out if washed in something like Vanish, please see photos.
