Entirely and very neatly hand crafted with a medium weight white linen, crocheted with a white cotton. Large sized. Weighs a heavy 1166 ... moregrams, unpackaged, and has some minor damage. The crochet has primula flowers and swirls throughout the deep magnificent design. From the edge of the linen centre. Which measures 38cm or 15" round, the lace measures 109cm or 43" at the corners. There is a linen insert between the crochet. Which measures 12cm or 5" deep. I have taken photos of the damage up close with a macro lens. The breaks are to the edged crochet. 16& 17 show 4 tiny pin head sized frey holes. The 5th is slightly larger. The 18th shows the largest crochet break. Approx 7cm or 3" x 2cm or 1" 19& 20 are tiny and minor. After all that. She displays beautifully, gracefully and is a treasure, the overall remainder of the cloth is sound with no further damage or wear. A stitch in time saves 9 and this one is certainly worth it. Hand crochet lace which has been rescued from several vintage tablecloths which had not survived the years too well, but the lace is still in absolutely excellent condition. All of the lace has been very skillfully worked using white cotton thread and is in various shapes and sizes. The first piece measures 38.5" x 41" Has a pretty leaf& zig-zag pattern with a half-diamond edges and is 4" deep. The second piece measures 31" x 21.5" Has a diamond pattern with half-diamond edges and is 3" deep. Two pieces measures 24" x 38" Have an open-square pattern with cockle-shell edges and are 2" deep. The fifth piece measures 24" x 19" Is patterned with flower-heads and open round shapes, has beautifully ... moreshaped edges and is 3" deep. 2 x DEEP CROCHET LACE EDGINGS
These 2 lovely edgings were removed by my mother from a bolster pillowcase many years ago. This I can remember as she always hated trying to launder bolster case with these intact. As I myself am now a pensioner I can only guess that they are well over 50 years old. I found them in my mums sewing cupboard when we cleared out her home. I can see they need a good crafter to finish them off again at joining edge. These are timeless hand crafted edgings. Size is approx 40cms wide and have 18cms drop. What makes it different. Is that it has been crafted from a snowy white silky duchess satin with a good weight and decorated all over with little sprays of white flowers which have been machine embroidered. However. The distinguishing feature for me is the lovely lacy hand crochet which borders the entire piece with a pattern of large roses. This to ... moreme is it's shining glory. This crochet has been crafted from snowy white mercerised cotton with a silky feel and has a tiny shell like scalloped edge. It measures 10" 26cm) deep ~ 14" 36cm) at the corners. The roses are a large 5" 12cm) in diameter surrounded by a 9" 23cm) diameter circle of little flowers. The crochet has been attached to the satin with a double row of machine stitching. Please look carefully at my images as they are an important part of my listings and an opportunity for you to see the detail. My overview of this is that it could be used as it; used as a layer under another tablecloth with the beautiful crochet lace showing below ~ or the crochet could be used for another project.
