Description: This is a masterfully constructed dress that is handsewn in a sturdy cotton twill trimmed with gorgeous delicate lace with a patterned silk( bodice. Neck and waist. The inside of the hem and the lining are edged in velvet. The bodice is boned and the closure is hook-and-eye. The pleated neck is trimmed with a self-ruffle and bow. The waist is also accented with a band of the same fabric and a bow in the back. Note the pleating details in the center back of the bodice and more in the skirt(to accommodate a bustle) The dress is a museum de-acquisition and proceeds will go to support that institution. Size: The waist of the bodice is 26" Across the back underarms measures 14" Doubled that would make the bust 28" but the style of this bodice allows for a few more inches in bust size. The length of the center back of the bodice is 16 1/2" The skirt waist measures 20" but as you can see in the photos. Someone had added a somewhat makeshift extension to that. The center front of the skirt is 40" long from the waist. Age: Period Original. Late 1800s. Condition Report: Very good but the dress does have a few issues. There is some torn lace(mostly at the edge of one sleeve) There are also some rust/age spots and a few tiny pinholes in the twill fabric. There is some tearing along the hem of the lining and the velvet bands along the interior hems is stained and has a few holes that are visible only on the inside of the dress. All flaws are clearly shown in the photos and are repairable. The dress is clean and odor-free. Please see our other listings for m

This is an insertion lace, meaning that both ... moreedges of the lace are straight and it was meant to be butted up against another piece of fabric or lace. On the edge of the lace(either side) there are tiny threads that can be pulled, when done, this lace can be shaped into ovals, circles, a scalloped hemline or even gathered into a ruffle. This lace has a pretty and delicate pattern, it measures 1/2" wide. When I was ironing this lace, I had sprayed starch on it and when it was damp, it touched another piece of pink fabric. There several spots of pink on this lace. I counted 3 areas of light pink and I've taken a photo of it, so you can assess the damage for yourself. It might wash out, but it might not, that being said there is still plenty of good usable lace here, as there is a total of 11-5/8 un-cut YARDS.that's a lot of lace for your sewing and crafting needs. Over the years this lace has softened to a soft, light beige. This old lace is well over 100 years old and to find this much un-cut yardage is hard to come by. Be sure to view my other lace auctions. This is divided into nine spaces with drawn thread work and has cutwork and hand embroidery in four of the spaces. It's Edwardian or Victorian lacework(see macro photo) and is ONE of TWO pieces that appear to match and were probably intended to be either dressing table runner ends(or perhaps inserted into a dress) I have listed the two pieces separately as the other sampler has a razor/split on it. A pretty vintage dressing table set. With linen centres and edged with machine made darned net lace, comprising runner, pin tray mat and two coasters. The runner is 33 1/2" 85cm) x 8 1/2" 21.5cm) and has machine embroidered flowers on each end and lace insertions. The mat is 11" 28cm) x 7" 18cm) and the coasters are 5" 13cm) square. Lace "Dressing Table?" Doilies/Place mats.
These are six lace doilies which I would imagine would be for a dressing table or tea table. They are exquisitely carefully made and I have to let the photos tell their story since my knowledge of lace is pretty non-existant. I know that they were my late mother's but I have never seen them being used. She had many things from her mother so I would imagine that they are early 20th century or late Victorian. They are somewhat discoloured from lack of use. Any more information please ask.

In its original Christmas gift box which still contains the Greetings card'To Alice' The three pieces consist of a large oval shaped display centre and two smaller ones, all in deep cream with a delightful pattern of sprays of flowers and end cartouche containing flower urns. Lot Of Four Vintage Lace Pieces ~ re-purpose, doll dressing
Lot Of Four Vintage Lace Pieces ~ re-purpose. Doll dressing. Click picture to enlarge This lot includes a lace piece with a grayish purple as the main color. A similar piece that has a pinkish magenta as the main color, there is also a gold piece, and there is an off white piece with bronze metallic thread throughout it. All machine made. Cotton. All of these piece are cut at the ends except for the gold piece which is cut on one side and has a lace strip down the other side. The grayish purple piece measures 21 1/2" x 9" Gold piece measures 15 1/2" x 11 1/2" magenta? pink piece measures 32 1/4" x 6" and the off white and metallic measures 29" x 4" On the strip of one lace on the gold piece there is a 2" long tear and a couple holes between pin dot and rice size. Set of 4 handmade crochet-edged Dressing Table mats- 1950s or earlier Amongst a collection of lace and table linen my mother inherited ages ago. Comprises a larger cloth and three smaller doilies. The earliest they could have been made was the 1950s. But I suspect they may be older. Large cloth is 18" x 9" Two doilies are c 7" x 7" One doily is 9" x 9" and has a tiny hole in the edge of the cotton centre. Fine crochet lace edging. Off-white coloured. No marks; lovely condition. Large c1900 Pink French Silk& Lace Antique Nightgown Re-Purpose Doll Dressing. Click picture to enlarge click picture to enlarge This night gown is made of lovely pink silk with white lace. It measures 53" long. 38" c chest, 52" c waist, about 59" c hips, 16" shoulder to shoulder, 16" c armpit hole, 15 1/2" sleeve length, and 15 1/2" sleeve opening. This night gown has damage but has a lot of usable silk and lace for amazing projects such as doll dressing or boudoir pillows. There is heavy spotting on the bottom half and some other spots scattered throughout. There are seam openings throughout, some tiny fraying/loose threads on the edges of the lace, small pulls throughout the pink, a few breaks throughout the lace, a couple holes in the lace, it looks like there is a missing hook closure on the ... moreback, and a small tear in the slit.
