THIS VINT A GE ANTIQUE HANDMADE LENGTH OF DUCHESSE BOBBIN LACE COLLAR(OR BERTHA) IS IN GOOD CONDITION. IT IS AN EARLY LACE THAT PROBABLY DATES FROM THE LATE 19TH CENTURY. IT IS A LARGE PIECE THAT MEASURES 35" ON THE INNER EDGE CIRCUMFERENCE AND 95" ON THE OUTER EDGE CIRCUMFERENCE. IT IS 7" IN WIDTH. THIS IS TRULY A BEAUTIFUL LARGE BERTHA COLLAR WITH SOME RAISED WORK ON THE PATTERN ALONG THE NECKLINE. IT IS IVORY IN COLOR. THIS PIECE OF LACE IS IN GOOD CONDITION. I am totally unable to cut a piece of lace. So this was not my work. Still when I found these, I could not resist and brought them home for the quality of the lace. This is all in quite good condition, certainly not very old and not much used as the pink silk of the lampshades is neither faded nor dirty or burnt; The velvet trim on the top edge has not a hint of dust. The white/pink/grey stone has no damage. The Point de gaze was probably a collar or a bertha examining the shape. It is all in good condition except of one spot where it was sewn on the shade and a bit torn off. This little spot will need repair. Antique Irish Carrickmacross lace Bertha collar with butterflies ~unfinished An interesting& beautiful example of antique Carrickmacross lace. With butterflies& honeysuckle in a stylized, Arts& Crafts sort of style. This was obviously going to be a large, Bertha style collar& very wonderful it would have been, since the design is so lovely& the standard of work high. Sadly, it was never completed but it does give a most interesting insight into how this type of lace is made. One end is completely finished, with the infill stitches in the butterflies. Then we come to a section with the main part of the applique design finished but not the infill stitches; then as we go along, fewer of the stages have been completed, leading us to the far end with the design just on the paper pattern. This would be a good piece for a collection ... moreor to use as a teaching aid. A lace-maker may even want to take up the challenge of finishing it ~among other things, you'd need a pair of small, sharp scissors& a very steady hand! There is not major damage- main points: the odd loose cotton which may need to be threaded back in. This is a BIG. Beautiful collar or table centerpiece. Originally a circle, it unfortunately is now in 3 pieces which can be put together. The lace is fabulous. All handmade. Most likely from turn of the 19-20th century. I am not an expert in types of lace. I am making my best guess in the title. But it is handmade without question, 3-dimensional, and fabulous. The leaves stick out and above the body of the lace. Hard to see in the pictures. Check the pictures carefully for the dimensions. I have laid out measuring tapes on the lace. No brown spots. Perfumes, smells, or problems- except the tears. Totally fabulous. Even if you didn't sew the pieces together, the biggest piece would make a terrific statement. Description Antique Victorian Reticella Lace Bertha Collar Here we have for sale. An Antique Victorian Reticella Lace Bertha Collar. This piece is part of a private collection I have recently acquired. It is in a white reticella lace with an intricate raised geometric design and dates to circa 1887. It has a lovely deep shape in the Bertha style. The inside length of the collar is 19 inches/48 cm. The depth of the collar is 7 inches/21 cm. The collar is in good antique condition but with a broken thread in the lace design. See final photo for evidence of this. Excellent condition: one flaw only- a very faint discoloration shown in last photo where the pencil is pointing. This is barely noticeable in normal lighting.
