This exquisite item has hand made Maltese lace in the form of four large butterflies, one in each corner, plus a 4.1/2" deep Maltese lace edge. The lace is absolutely stunning as it depicts not only the Maltese cross and the ears of wheat which identify this wonderful hand made lace. But it has an unusual long stemmed large flower in each corner of the lace which has a depth of 6.1/4" measured at the corners. An amazing. Unused vintage Maltese lace, pure silk bridal(vanity) bag which is hand made. It still has it's original card label attached, guaranteeing that it is hand made Maltese pillow lace. The bag is lined with cream silk and has a twisted silk drawstring. There is a central Maltese cross with flowers around it and the bag is edged with scalloped lace. It is 10 3/4" 27.5 cm) high and 7 3/4" 19.5cm) wide and is in very good unused vintage condition with a light fold mark, which has no staining. The only similar bag I can find is in the Bag& Purse Museum in Amsterdam. Both sides of the bag have been shown in the photographs. It comes with a post card of Maltese lace workers and has the prices of items that could be purchased written on the back. The price of a Vanity Bag was 6/11d. There are other items on the card. Acquired from an antique dealer, and it appears to have been professionally cleaned very recently. I note a few loose threads, a small and faint storage spot. This lace looks amazing.

A beautiful Victorian champagne silk Maltese bobbin lace scarf or stole. Which is hand made. The scarf has a design of Maltese crosses and wheat ear flowers with other shapes running down the centre. I believe from the Edwardian era. The round centre is crafted from gossamer thin silk and decorated all around with simply beautiful intricate Maltese lace with a pretty scalloped edge. Another breathtakingly piece of work. Proving that small is so often very beautiful. This is such a delicate piece ~ a perfect special occasion piece for a wedding perhaps and would look so elegant in a top pocket of a jacket.
