This is a fine H oniton lace collar with a particularly attractive symmetrical design including thistle. Rose and fern motifs. E xcellent condition. Possibly unused. Inner neck measures 17 ins. Back neck to edge 6 ins. This collar is from a large collection I bought recently. Which belonged to the late Pat Earnshaw, lace expert and author of many books on the subject. It is a delicate piece of lace in unwashed condition, a few shades darker than it looks on my computer. Bonnet veil 19th c. Brussels or Honiton bobbin lace applique bride collect CW
Something very old for the bride-a simple elegant small veil. Or fine scarf to cover bare shoulders for the ceremony. Could be either English Honiton or Brussels. The little leadworks in the edge motifs. As well as the tiny bobbin lace dots that powder the fine net field suggest the veil might be appliqued with Honiton bobbin lace rather than Brussels. Brussels more likely would have had needle-worked dots in the field. Tenstick loops were very typical of Honiton. Handmade Bobbin lace motifs are appliqued on machine made net. Probably mid 19th century. Totally appropriate for Civil War reenactor. About 15 inches deep at the widest point. About 38 inches long. Excellent condition. A couple very tiny holes in the net. Pair of Honiton bobbin lace flaired sleeve ruffles with long net under sleeves. Honiton bobbin lace motifs are joined with background of twisted bars. Lace about 4 1/2 inches deep. Total length about 15 inches. lace about 3 12 inches deep. About 7 1/2 inches around the wrist, about 13 inches around the top of the net. Decent condition. Clean, but with lots of damage to the net- several large tears, and many little breaks in the connecting bars in the lace. Certainly still pretty and useful for a reenact or- the net is, after all part of an under sleeve, and most of the damage is along the seam in the net. Victorian and Edwardian costume and accessories from a country house estate in SW Scotland as well as some of the unusual items I acquired at the auctions I attended across the UK recently. I am also laundering and sorting out the remaining boxes of textiles and ephemera from France- including some fabulous antique fabrics for projects- and am busy planning my next buying trip at the beginning of April! I am listing several items of antique Victorian Honiton lace this week- all from the same family. This is an unusual short wedding veil- the appliques are unlike any other Honiton pattern I have come across. Yet it had a note attached, proclaiming it ... moreto be Honiton lace. It is 123cm wide and 75cm deep- densely worked with appliques along the bottom edge, as well as the sides, and sprigged with star shaped appliques. The top edge is raw- easily attached to a fine linen or silk ribbon, or gathered on to a headpiece or comb. Because it is so wide, it dips down into two points when worn on the back of the head- so pretty. It is freshly laundered and snowy white, with no marks or stains. I can spot just one minuscule darn and a couple of pinprick breaks in the tulle. If you are planning a vintage wedding, this is perfect! More photographs below. PLEASE READ. ENGLISH HONITON LACE BONNET VEIL Totally hand-made 18th Century The ground is vrai droschel.Made in strips 1.5 cms wide which were then joined and the bobbin lace motifs added. I.e. it is totally hand made and pre-dates machine made nets. I have attempted to show these strips with a close-up photograph. Being hand-made makes it extremely light and soft and must have taken many hours/days/weeks of work for one person to make. However such pieces were ususlly made by several people. C. 1800 Brussels or Honiton Lace Applique YARDAGE Jane Austen Era
Excellent lace material for authentic Jane Austen era costumes. Difficult to say if these are Brussels or Honiton bobbin lace appliques on machine net. The design and lead works in the motifs lean toward Honiton. But it could well be Belgian. Note also the raised ribs that define and give texture to the motifs. Also notice ALL the tiny motifs that are scattered over the field are exquisitely formed of raised rib work, sometimes called"ten stick" Very fine. Soft net. Machine net was in fairly wide use by the early 1800s, and this design is of that era. Pearl white color. Many pieces of identical lace- most is very good condition. Some with a few holes in the mesh, but the motifs are almost all quite good. A couple of seams, and exquisite patches. Washed and clean. About 4 inches deep. Jabot and Flounce c1880-1900 4 pieces of handmade lace dating from the last quarter of the 19th century. I believe that the jabot is Honiton lace but I am not sure. I don't know what type of lace the other pieces are. I have put a tape measure in the pictures to give you an idea of the size. The net piece has some damage but the other pieces appear to be in good condition- please supersize the pictures to judge the condition for yourself. They weigh 30grams unpackaged and will be posted as a large letter. I have lots of other vintage items listed and will happily combine postage costs. Antique/vintage early 19C fine Honiton lace shawl
This is a fine machine net shawl. Decorated with Honiton motifs at either end. Probably dates from the early 19th century. This a lovely delicate piece and drapes beautifully. Unfortunately. Although the net is quite strong, there are many small holes. In addition some of the motifs are coming away from the net slightly and need to be re-sewn. When worn over a pale garment the holes aren't very noticeable. Low start price reflects condition. It measures 85 ins x 20 ins.

Unusual Antique Early Victorian Honiton Lace & Muslin Handkerchief Case Bag
A very unusual early 19th century handkerchief sachet ~ possibly pre~Victorian. It is entirely handmade with a Honiton lace motif applied onto very fine muslin. In the centre is a monogram C A. I bought it with the original brown envelope that it had been stored in with a handwritten note on the front. Which reads, 1 Honiton Lace Handkerchief belonging to my stepmother, her last gift to me. Spectacular early 1800s English HONITON BOBBIN LACE BONNET VEIL COX COLLECTION
One of the most exquisite early 19th C. bonnet veils. With outstanding large, complex, and exquisitely made Honiton bobbin lace motifs The bottom border consists of two alternating stylized floral and leaf motifs, with meticulously made leadwork fillings. Notice, for example, how the shape of the long grass blade twists in design. Graceful curving grass and leaf fronds give movement to the design. Large lace motifs cover over half of the surface of the lace overall. Probably dates to about 1830-40 The tiny floral sprigs that are scattered over the field of fine machine net also are very precisely formed. With raised work in both the flower and leaf giving them dimension and texture. Veil overall about 44-45 inches across. And about 19 1/2 inches deep. Bottom motifs are over 4 inches deep. Main motifs are almost 10 inches across, and about ... more7-8 inches deep. Deep ecru color. Likely partly from age. Background net is fragile- the largest current net damage consists of two tears in the top corner. As shown in photo. Is very dusty from storage. And needs a very careful bath. Motifs all are in near perfect condition. Suitable as-is for a collector; probably would need to be reapplied to a new net for bridal or other use. 55 ins antique/vintage Honiton lace border - roses and leaves.
This is a length of Honiton lace. It measures 55 ins x 6 ins. It has an attractive allover pattern of veined leaves and roses. Rather in the Arts and Crafts style. Overall it presents quite well, but on close inspection it appears that there are 2 areas which have been'pieced in' they are a slightly darker colour than the main lace. I have shown photos, but the colour difference is difficult to detect.There are also several small broken brides. So probably a piece for craft or costume rather than the collector!

Unusual Handmade 19th C. Honiton English Bobbin Lace Cox Collection
Unusual Half-round shaped Honiton English Bobbin Lace piece. Perhaps somone more familiar with 19th century fashion will recognize and help identify it. Tried placing it on a dress form. And it does not work particularly well as a collar edge- the back is impressive, the front not so much. The lace itself is composed of beautifully designed and made motifs with lots of raised rib work. Classic thistle featured in the center. Surrounded by large well-formed roses, and more subtle shamrocks in the background. Condition is very decent- the motifs themself are in mostly good condition. Lots of breaks in between. And some of the edges are coming loose. Tried to show closeups of different areas to moke it possible to assess the condition. Lots of great materials for someone to recycle. Antique Honiton applique Black Lace Bonnet Veil - 1830 / 40's

The applique is very narrow in the form of small flowers. Leaves and sprigs. There is a slight puckering here and there along the top edge presumably to help it to be fitted to the bonnet. This is not jet black having a slight bluish tinge- most likely due to the use of a natural dye which was used before synthetic dyes were discovered in the mid 19th century. It is in good used condition with a number of mostly minor issues and a tear to one corner. I have shown the main points in the photos. Stunning Antique Honiton Hand made Bobbin Lace Bertha Collar Welcome to my shop! A stunning antique early Victorian handmade Honiton lace collar with mofifs of roses and leaves. The collar looks to date from around 1840-50. Prior to the Education Act which inadvertently was one of the many factors in the decline of handmade lace, whereas children began to make lace at age 6, the education act required them to be in school, thus causing a decline in skill and leading to the'slugs and snails' look of some of the motifs found in later Honiton laces. MUSEUM ANTIQUE HONITON ROSALINE DUCHESSE LACE CUFF COLLECTORS VINTAGE WHITE
A rare and pretty antique lace single cuff which was purchased from a closing down museum in America a couple of years ago. I believe it is either Honiton or Rosaline lace. I think it dates between 1850-1890. It was hand made and features all sorts of exquisite details including flowers and leaves. It is very lightweight. Thin and soft yet incredibly strong. It is in good strong antique condition with only two quite easily repairable breaks and no staining. It measures approx 8 x 2 1/2 inches. A wonderful collectors piece.
