In this auction I have a fabulous Old Cotton lace edging/ insertion which is black in colour. You are bidding on 28 metres in total of this old traditional cluny design. It is made with quality Heavy gauge cotton. This lace is just over ½" inch wide with one scalloped and one straight edge. We as a family are' Very' proud to be the makers of the lace on Kate Middletons- The Duchess of Cambridge. Royal Wedding Dress and underskirt. We also made the Trims that were on the Bridesmaids dresses on the collar.Cuffs and around the bottom of the beautifully made little dresses. We are a small family run firm which has been making beautiful British laces for over 200 years and are still using the same machines and techniques used all those years ago. These laces and all my laces are very'vintage' in style. They are made on ... morethese old machines and it is the closest you will ever get to handmade cotton lace- made in such a way as to simulate the old fashioned handmade lace. You can see if you look closely in the picture the lace is not completely'flat' as the pattern. In this case, the flower, it is outlined on the surface of the lace. This is the same in all my laces. There are two sides to all my laces with the'outlined' side always being sewn uppermost on the object or garment. nWe are very proud of the laces we still make today and I don't think you will find any better cotton laces in the world. that this lace is NOT flimsy nylon but best quality cotton.
