Major clear out of my studio, it is now filling up fast with new auction finds. The new year began well– I was offered the fabulous contents of a Victorian linen cupboard and a family collection of lace from a local estate. I also acquired lots of new stock from two wonderful antique textile auctions- one in SW England and another in Yorkshire. I am continuing to list these items as soon as I have laundered and inspected them– lace, shawls, Edwardian and Victorian costume, a collection of buttons etc. Happy browsing! This is a lovely triangular antique tambour lace shawl. Veil or mantilla- snowy white and freshly laundered, with no marks or stains. There is a sprinkling of tiny holes(last photograph) ... morebut these are relatively easy to mend with a well placed stitch. the floral scrolling motifs and polka dots mean that your stitches can be disguised as little flowers. This could be worn over a strapless wedding dress, or even worn as a wedding veil- I have shown it worn in two different ways. The long edge is 210cm long, and the point at the back is 44cm long. An ornate set in an ecru color. The panels measure on the average about 86 x 26 inches. There's holes. Age/water spotting in places. They have an overall yellowing from age. This is typical to see with these early lace pieces. Just found from an estate. They came out of a Victorian house in my area. The lady of the estate was 104 when passing. Exquisite Antique Victorian Tambour Lace Extra Wide Flounce ~ Bridal Lace to start a new paragraph use- This is an absolutely exquisite antique Victorian. Handmade Tambour lace wedding flounce, which was likely the bottom half of a wedding gown of the daughter of a well-to-do family. It measures an astounding 172" long x 41" deep. Pieces of this size and quality are a rarity. It would be perfectly suitable for the creation of a special veil, or wedding gown. A soft ivory in hue, it is silky soft, and has a lovely fluid drape. As for the beautiful motif, it features a scalloped border along the bottom edge, gracefully topped by a border design of florals and leafy sprigs, which is for the most part about 12" deep, but it is meandering, and varies slightly. Then in the center front, the motif climbs further up, a full 39" ... morein height to create a gorgeous central focal point. The attention to detail is astounding, as it is full of delicious lacy needlework! The background is soft and silky net, and it features smaller floral sprays spaced about 6" apart all over. This piece was part of a gown in the past, so the top edge is unfinished, and there is a spot where obviously there were buttons or a zipper in the center back. Aside from a few small breaks in the net, it is in surprisingly phenomenal condition. Clean and fresh. This would be so precious as part of an heirloom gown or a veil created for your special day! BEAUTIFUL OLD pair of ecru color net lace panels in a hard to find design. Measuring approximately 35" x 84" each, with a 1" hemmed rod pocket. There is heavy embellishment on bottom area, a scallop along the bottom edge, and a stitched finished border around three sides. The centered design allows these panels to be hung separately, or as a pair of curtains. PLEASE NOTE: One panel has had repairs done to the net. Some of which I have shown in close-up photos with beige background, and are seen in context in main photos. Has loops at top end. The curtains came from a mansion in New York that had high ceilings. A set like these are very hard to ever find. Each curtain measures about 144-142 x 71-70 inches. You can see the hand sewn lace work that embellishes each piece. The color is a cream to ecru. There's age yellowing and age spotting in places. Mends and holes also. Breaks to the lace. This time of year; I always think of"White Sale" I'm listing linens! This auction is for a darling little Victorian era lace boudoir pillow. It features a Tambour floral bouquet design on fine cotton tulle netting. The edge of the pillow has a fine lace flounce. The back is plain cotton tulle netting. Inside. Lays a soft cream satin pillow. The pillow measures approximately 12" x 4" deep. Photos 1.2 and 6 were taken outside in natural light; the remainder taken under incandescent lighting. ISSUES: This darling. Dainty little pillow has some issues. The tulle netting has a number of holes(see photos 6-9) Several are sizable. It probably could be relined with some tulle and the raw edges could be basted back down; but it was a task that I didn't wish to undertake. The satin pillow seems to be quite intact. There ... moreappear to be no stains. The back opening originally had two Mother of Pearl buttons for closures; one is missing and the opening is whipped closed. More treasures from France, a collection of family lace, Victorian and Edwardian costume, shoes and accessories from a country house estate in SW Scotland as well as some of the unusual items I acquired at the auctions I attended across the UK last week– enjoy browsing! From a carefully preserved collection of family lace- a gorgeous tambour lace on tulle shoulder shawl. Mantilla or wrap dating to around 1840. It is freshly laundered, and ecru in colour(if you have a Farrow& Ball colour chart to hand it most closely resembles colour Nr 1- Lime White) Very fine detailed work- especially ... moreat the ends of the front lappets and the edges. The lappets are 26cm in diameter. The shawl is shaped to fit over the shoulders(25cm deep at the back, and 230cm long) I can spot around 6 holes(I have shown the largest of these in the last 4 photographs) and some pinprick holes. I don't think it would be too hard to disguise these with a well-placed stitch if you wanted to wear this. A beautiful Victorian lace shawl! More photographs below. PLEASE READ. So very pretty. I would imagine that this fingerless glove is mid 19th Century and very nicely made. If it had been the pair. I would certainly hope they went to a collector, but as a single, it would be lovely as part of a display, or for a trendy young lady to wear to a wedding. I think that the central design of flowers with leaves and buds is tamboured but so tiny is the work. It could be needlerun. The surround is spotted net. Then. The top edge and lower design is lace of ... moreflowerheads, with a tiny cuff of flounced lace to finish. I feel sure it is all hand made. Even the thumb is finely finished with curved edges. The condition is excellent but with mild staining. So give it a gentle rinse in cold water. It should come out very well. Depth 11cm and wrist width 14cm. Lovely! Also trimmed in Valenciennes lace. The blouse is lined with an extra layer of net lace. The blouse is in very good condition, no stains- two holes in the net lace near each other on one sleeve- one broken bride in the tambour work- and some breaks in the lace of the collar. Antique Lace and Cutwork Victorian Figural Tambour sheer Bed Cover, circa1900
Up for auction we have a truly once-in-a-lifetime estate find! This RARE and exquisite vintage piece was discovered at an estate sale at the mansion of a prominent Chicago doctor. The piece is too breath-taking to pass up! Antique Tambour lace and cutwork Victorian figural sheer bed cover. C.1900. Color is a light ecru, ivory, cream, beige, and it is edged on 3 sides with hand-embroidered lace. Fourth edge is hemmed. Some of the pictures show the coverlet on a full-size bed. With a burgundy quilt underneath so that you can see the pattern clearly. The pictures taken outside show the staining better than any artificial indoor light could. I tried to clearly document everything. The opinions of three antique aficionados date this gorgeous piece to be from the turn-of-the-century era. Late 1800’s to early 1900’s. It features elaborate hand embroidery ... moreand cutwork with padded satin stitches. Some of the descriptive terms used: needlepoint lace, filet lace, reticella(reticello? bobbin lace and French linen. Overall dimensions are 82” wide by 91” long. As for the width. There is a 17” drop on each side, so the top that would actually lay on the bed is 48” wide. Length is 91” With a 17” drop at the foot, so actual bed-top dimension is 74” The 4 th edge(top) is hemmed. With no drop. There are lace embroidered slits at the two bottom corners so that it drapes nicely at the bottom of the bed with no gathering or bunching. I found one small area where the lace meets the body that needs to be repaired. The lace itself is intact. Just needs to be rejoined to the body. There is a close-up picture showing this. There is widespread light staining on the piece, which is noted in the pictures. Due to the age and delicate nature of the piece. I will leave it up to the buyer to clean or have it professionally cleaned. There was no way I was taking a chance on cleaning a 100-year old treasure like this! This intricate. I am continuing to sort and launder the boxes of textiles and ephemera from this trip, and am rather unsuccessfully trying to clear space in my studio… I return to France on 7 th August for some really special antique markets. So do keep popping back to see what I have unearthed! A wonderfully dainty Victorian wrap or shoulder shawl- perfect for wearing with a strapless wedding dress! It appears never to have been worn. And is in pristine condition with no marks, stains or damage. Fine tulle ... morewith tambour scrolling floral motifs and scalloped edges. It measures 43cm x 144cm. If you have a Farrow& Ball colour chart to hand this most closely resembles Nr. 2013- Matchstick. A delightful and utterly feminine shawl or wrap! More photographs below. PLEASE READ. GORGEOUS ANTIQUE 1800s HDMD VICTORIAN ERA TAMBOUR LACE TULLE PANEL FRAGMENT
This auction is for a very lovely antique circa 1800s 1900 handmade/applied Tambour lace panel salvaged from and old drapery panel of the Victorian era. It used to be much larger. However, the remaining portion was damaged by the sun and just shattered. This is of cotton fibers and is still strong. This is in very good condition aside from discoloration surface marks in certain areas of the lace as can be seen in photos. This most likely can be removed by soaking in the appropriate solution by HAND. Due to its old age, I do not recommend pulling or tugging on it, washing by machine or drying in a dryer. This is being sold"AS IS" It measures approximately 35"+ x 19.5" 20.5" The last photo shows the underside.

REMNAN OF NET LACE. This is for a lovely remnant piece of tambour net lace. Not sure if was once a valance or something to that effect, its got rough edges and seams on both side before the rough edges. There is some staining and some holes, I try to show in photos, however its great to use as a runner or to drape over something. Its a nice large piece. Beautiful pieces of Victorian and Edwardian antique lace in varying shades of color. All in good condition other than the beige piece at the top has a few stains and the cream piece underneath it has quite a few holes and the black piece is falling apart. But I think it's all salvageable for sewing projects, etc. None of the pieces will look new, since they are close to or over 100 years old.

These tambour lace curtains are a very light cream and white color. They are hemmed at the top. They measure about 80" x 32 1/2" Not perfect. But display beautifully. Both curtains have a few tinybreaks. Almost all in the net lace, both also have a couple of small holes and tiny loose threads on the edges. Beautiful Antique VICTORIAN TAMBOUR LACE Point de Venice VEIL or BED COVERLET
This auction brings you an elegant antique Victorian original lace coverlet. Of course this can be used as a wedding veil. Shawl, or curtain. This large panel features an ornate embroidered floral oval section in the center with embroidered flowers scattered throughout. Embroidered bows along the bottom. It is generously proportioned with a 12" drop hem. 93" long and 78" wide with the hem. It is ecru in color. I've layered the coverlet over a white bedspread to give you an idea of coloring and size. Two end corners have a deep scallop meant to drape around a bed post. 3 small tears along the hem. 2 repairs on the hem. 3 minor tears on the embroidery. Please refer to photos. Thank you. Antique Victorian French Tambour Lace Wedding Bridal Dress Flounce
Here is an absolutely rare antique find in Tambour lace bridal flounces. It's just incredible to find one that is still intact. Strong yet delicate, and not disintegrated, dry, brittle and shattered. This one is a stunner, light as a feather and can be handled well with care. The flounce is circular measuring 108 inches in diameter, and for picture taking, I have gently pinned it to the bottom of a snowy white dress. It had been salvaged from a white silk wedding gown. The flounce was hand stitched along its upper edge to the silk as evidenced by the shattered fragments that remain. There is a pic of it with a pencil. The elaborate, detailed and aristocratic pattern of medallions and florals repeat among branches and scrolls. The center front measures 19 inches in length, and gradually increases around to the back where it ends up measuring ... more36 inches at its longest. It was completely brown from age and has been gently soaked to an off-white, almost pale ecru color. There are no stains. In close inspection, it has approximately 28 breaks to the net, out of what appears to be thousands, as this is a sizable piece. There is some damage at the bottom edge that measures 4 inches wide which you can see in a pic with the pencil. The breaks in the net can easily be stitched with a fine thread of the same color, and the damage to the bottom edge can be repaired in a number of creative ways if desired. There also appears to be a previous professionally repaired seam to the net as seen in the pic, but it could also be the original joining seam, it's hard to tell. Aside from these flaws, this flounce most definetly has continued life left to it as it displays and flounces gorgeously. Should be a museum piece. Simply a beauty! I have not cleaned this item and as it has been in long term storage it has an age discolouration which isn't showing in the photos. There is not major damage- main points: the odd loose cotton which may need to be threaded back in. It measures 88" x 32" Beautiful pattern with embroidery and cutwork. There are two tears near the edge. There are several breaks in the net lace, most are near the bottom, and there are some tiny loose and fraying threads on the edge. See photos. There are some holes in the mesh.None of them are huge. The ones in the collar are the worst. There are four holes in the collar.two of them are at the seam. Two holes on the one edge and one of them is at the bottom seam. About 4 holes in the middle panel About four holes on the other side. Still a very nice piece. Large Lot Of Original Victorian Lace - Tambour Runner&Other Pieces For Projects
This lot of antique lace remnants is for projects. They are all original. There is an ecru colored tambour lace runner that is 62" in length by 13 1/2" in width. I can't sell as a runner because on on end some of the lace is shattered. The other large remnant is a little later probably Edwardian;teens. It is black lace and it measure 45" in length by 32" in width. As you can see from the pictures that pice is also shattered on the end. It also has ball tassel fringe. The flowers have also lost some of the black silk thread on them. There is also a sleeve from a Victorian dress. A silk handkerchief with the monogram"R" and a silk tablecloth that at one time had a check print on it. This piece is the size of a card table. All of these pieces have been gently hand cleaned. I hope somebody can use these beautiful ... moreold textiles.

From a local estate. I've got a lovely assortment of fine antique/vintage European lace up for auction this week. Be sure to check my other listings. This auction is for: Qty: 1 Item: Antique sewing needle case. Handmade. Details: Measuring 6-1/2 inches wide. This charming very old beauty features heart shaped French tambour lace hand stitched to a padded pale weathered lavender silk, heart shaped as well. It is attached, by a hand stitch, at the top right and left of the heart to a second padded heart, which flips open. This was found with a few antique straight pins remaining. The tambour lace has some color to it as seen in the pics, and the lavender silk is in good shape with typical age related texture. No stains, just a white spot on the under side of the top heart. antique Victorian tambour ivory Lace Shawl Wrap ruffled flounce& wired collar Here is an exceptionally lovely Victorian tambour lace wedding shawl or capelet. It's beautifully made with delicate floral work and scalloped edges on a very fine net tulle. The ruffled collar flounce has three wire pieces hidden at the back. As shown in picture 4. These wire pieces can be bent or straightened, depending on whether you want the collar to be propped up in back or to lie flat. It measures 63" across from end to end and 15" length from top to bottom. Not including the collar. The bottom ruffle is 5" at its widest, and the collar is 4.5" at its widest in the back. Even though this is a large piece of lacework, it is surprisingly light weight, weighing only 1.6 ounces. It is airy and delicate yet drapes beautifully. As far ... moreas condition goes. It does have some scattered age marks which you can see if you click on zoom.I also have more close-up photos if you'd like to see them. I haven't cleaned this because I don't want to ruin its beautiful age-toned patina in case that's the color you're wanting. Right now, the lace is a lovely ivory/ecru color, and I'm sure if it was cleaned the color would lighten considerably, possibly to a snowy white. It could certainly be worn as is though, and for something so old and delicate, it is in remarkably good condition. Will be wrapped with care.
