Offered for auction today. Is this gorgeous antique embroidery on net or Tambour lace pillow cover. It measures 24" square. The center pocket measures 12" There are 3 shell buttons down the center seam in the back. It is light ivory/ecru in color. It is in excellent condition with no rips, holes, tears or stains. I found this in a lot of antique textiles that I purchased from an estate recently. I estimate that it dates from the late 1800's to early 1900's. GORGEOUS TAMBOUR LACE COVERED PILLOW SLIP! Lovely pillow cover is an antique made with net lace over a cotton pillow slip. Hand made, not manufactured. Deep ruffle is made by doubling the lace; lace covers one side of the pink fabric, but not the back. Pink fabric is a good quality cotton, opening is on one edge and has to be hand sewn shut once the pullow form is inserted, form is not included. Tambour lace is made by machine chain stitching in cotton over a silk machine net base, a popular form of lace from the late 1800s to the early 1900s. Cover is freshly washed and pressed and in excellent condition. Originally the back was also covered in lace but was removed, found this way. The pillow sham measures about 19 1/2" x 14 1/2" and the pillow measures 15" x 10 1/2" This pillow sham has some normal wear from use. There are a couple breaks and seam openings. Gorgeous. Elaborate antique tambour net lace and applique coverlet. With a pair of matching pillow layovers- so rare to find a full set. Lavishly embellished and incredibly lovely. It will take your breath away! It measures about 74 x 82. And the 2 layovers each measure approx 30 x 30 inches. Color is a creamy white. Condition is excellent. I have not laundered. But this is very clean, a cquired from a meticulous antique dealer. I note only a few minor discolorations. Some loose threads along the edges, three small openings in the coverlet(2nd last photo) and a couple in the layovers(last photo) This set looks fabulous.
