Brussels Point de Gaze Bridal Cap, Vintage. AKA Rose Point
Highly sought-after by prospective brides. Point De Gaze, also know as Rose Point, is a rare and expensive lace because it is hand made. This type of lace dates back to the 1850's, but I have no way of dating this item. It is definitely vintage and possible antique. The lace cap is exactly as I acquired it. It has yellowed with age and needs to be detached from the metal frame and gently washed. The net lining has a tear and can be easily replaced. With the veil attached it would be a magnificent head piece for that perfect wedding gown, an heirloom to pass on.

A very long pretty piece of I'm told Brussels hand needlepoint point de gaze edging lace featuring finely detailed flowers. Leaves and tiny dots etc, measuring approx 7.5 x 388cm. I am told that with it having superb. Intricate, dense and precise motifs that it is a rare, and one of the most desired fine museum quality or collectors laces and that every tiny stitch in it, even the tulle looking background was stitched by hand. I think it must have taken well over a year to produce. I was also told that it would probably have been made to use in a wedding dress. From research I've done I think it was produced in the 1850's. I have pictured the full length in eight sections(the eight horizontal similar looking pictures) for you to see the full length in detail. Badly damaged but much too good to throw away large collar of Brussels lace- Duchesse with Point de Gaze inserts. All kinds of damage- rust stains. Torn point de gaze inserts, broken connecting bars. The basic lace, however, is of very good quality, and well worth the effort to rescue and recycle individual motifs. Three nice but torn inserts of point de gaze needle lace with lovely rose motifs with raised petals that could be remounted on a fine silk net, or saved as study pieces or framed. Lots of well-formed Duchesse lace. Flowers and leaves with raised rib work, extra layers of cloth work, lots of nice detail. 5 yards antique/vintage Brussels Point de Gaze lace flounce
This is a wonderful long length of late 19th century Brussels Point de Gaze lace with a beautiful delicate floral design. It measures 5 yards by 11.7 ins. This has no joins and both ends are finished. So I presume it is unused, although there is some loose hand stitching to top edge. It has a lovely crisp finish, though it really does need to be carefully cleaned- colour is a mid ecru and there are areas of pale age browning( one illustrated) In addition there are 2 dark brown age marks, which will be more difficult to remove, though they are near one end. There is the occasional small hole, but apart from this good condition. Antique BRUSSELS DUCHESSE LACE FALL CAP (Lappets) Head Scarf, w/ Point de Gaze
BRUSSELS DUCHESSE LACE FALL CAP. A typical headpiece of the 19th century that replaced the separate lappets and cap of the 18th century. This beautiful handmade piece features mixed Brussels lacemaking techniques: bobbin-made lace elements and four inserts of needlepoint lace roses on a point de gaze ground. The roses have raised rose petals. A decorative technique introduced in the 1870s. The fall cap is quite large and may also be used as a scarf. Each“lappet” is about 30” 76cm) long from the center of the“cap” There are a few weak or detached brides. I noticed one light spot. This piece and the others being offered on eBay were part of a collection of lace pieces from descendents of John Jay. First Chief justice of the United States.

It measures 43 inches(106cm) around the inside edge by 3&1/2 inches(9cm) down centre back and just over 5&1/4 inches(13cm 5mm) across widest point and across the very end piece 3/4 inch(1cm 8mm) There are a very few minor pulls in the lace and a small hole in the net of both the point de gaze inserts on the 2 lapel pieces(please see close up photo's) otherwise in good condition. In Amazing condition, Lace is strong and clean, with no damage that we could find, it has one stain shown in the next to last photo and it is shown up close in the last photo. Vintage Antique Lace Brussels Duchesse Point de Gaze Handmade BIG Bertha collar
This is a BIG. Beautiful collar or table centerpiece. Originally a circle, it unfortunately is now in 3 pieces which can be put together. The lace is fabulous. All handmade. Most likely from turn of the 19-20th century. I am not an expert in types of lace. I am making my best guess in the title. But it is handmade without question, 3-dimensional, and fabulous. The leaves stick out and above the body of the lace. Hard to see in the pictures. Check the pictures carefully for the dimensions. I have laid out measuring tapes on the lace. No brown spots. Perfumes, smells, or problems- except the tears. Totally fabulous. Even if you didn't sew the pieces together, the biggest piece would make a terrific statement. Antique Brussels Point de Gaze lace*Panel or trim from Victorian gown*Excellent condition Offered here is a gorgeous piece of antique lace. This looks to me like a Brussels Point de Gaze lace. It is a beautiful floral pattern with raised cording stitched details. Very finely woven between the design. The color is a light creamy ivory, see the photo on white paper for the best color tone. This is finished on all sides, it is a panel or trim piece and not a collar. It is 33" long, 4 1/2" wide in the center, one end is 7" wide and the other end is 9 1/2" wide, it is not symmetrical.
