Condition: Used Location: Hyde Park, United States Beautiful. Heavily flaked quarter sawn oak sideboard in the manner of RJ Horner. Pics tell most of the story. Measurements are as follows: 84"W x ... more69"T X 24"D. Weight: approx. 150-200lbs. There are a couple of small trim pieces where the backsplash meets the base that are missing, a couple that are loose. The top section of the backsplash has seperated and a couple small pieces of carved trimwork are missing as a result(can be seen in the pics) There is a small a chip on the front left edge of the table surface. One of the locks is missing from one of the doors and there is a stain on the top that can be clearly seen in the photo. Im sure there are other bumps/bruises but nothing glaring. All that having been said, this piece is really stunning in person and all of the condition issues are fairly simple repairs. The flaws I mentioned are only noticed upon close scrutiny and have never been pointed out to me by anyone who has seen it in person. Original finish is in good shape, just as it appears in the photos. The color, in person, is probably somewhere between the lightest and darkest photos. The carving on this piece is AWESOME! The quartersawn grain is heavy and pronounced. Bought this piece and the matching server, which I will be listing soon) to restore but I am out of time/space. I feel I have a reasonable opening bid on this piece but if it does not sell, I will restore it and the price will go up considerably. Personally, im kinda getting burned out on the figurals and winged griffins that usually adorn pieces of this quality so its nice to see a great piece without that typical subject matter. One key is included The hutch is 8 ft high. 21" deep, and 57" wide at the widest The bottom part is 36" high by 52" wide There is one shelf inside the bottom part and then the bottom shelf. It measures 15 1/2" deep The top part is 51" high by 52" wide. The top part has 2 shelves inside plus the bottom. These shelves measure 9" deep. There are areas of missing and damaged veneer on the base. The drawer pulls are not original. And the drawer locks have been removed. One of the pads(back left) the base rests on is missing. The spindle detail on the left side of the base under the marble is missing. There is some silver loss to the mirrors. The marble has some staining and a few scratches that don't detract from the piece. The dimensions are 46" wide x 21" deep x 74" tall overall and 39" tall to the top of the marble. And signed"Pietro Portalupi, Torino, Turin in English. Solid walnut was artistically handcarved with lion paws. Faces, fruits, classical motifs, deep moldings and grill work. The deep rich finish is in excellent condition with warm patina and a few losses at the edges for antique character. A very fine antique. Circa 1880's, quartersawn oak sideboard with mottled brown marble top. The style is a combination of Renaissance and Classical. Two part construction. The top section with column supported shelf has a broken pediment type crest having finial, and spindel gallery. The marble is a meander of gray and cream in a chestnut brown color. The case has two long drawers over a two doored compartment. Fancy brass handles to all oak interior drawers, the doors with carved lion heads on tablets. Includes the lock and key. it measures 5'8" 68" tall by 4'3" 51" wide by 20" deep. the top shelf 7" deep. Below the case is a column supported long shelf over bun feet. Excellent condition: oak boards without chips or cracks, original dark finish. The marble slab is without cracks or chips.

1880 French Renaissance Louis XV. Profusely Carved Quarter-Oak Sideboard/Buffet. It has a very decorative pierced gallery with finials on each end. The top center has a heavily carved crown. The Sideboard/Buffet is made in three main sections. The base with two drawers and two doors with one interior. Removable shelf measures: 55" wide x 21 1/2" deep x 39" tall. The next section supports the top section with two columns and provides a decorative pierced plate rail. It measures: 16" tall x 12" deep. The plate rail is 4" deep with a 2" opening for plates. The third(top section) measures: 51" wide x 41" tall x 13 1/2" deep it is 103 inches tall overall. It has 3 profusely carved doors. The center door appears to have been carved from one piece of wood and represents a man on a horse with a trumpet ... morechasing a deer. The two side doors have applied carving that represents scrolls and flowers. The top section has two adjustable shelves. There are two columns on the front of the base and 8 columns on the front of the top section. There are two keys for the two top side doors. There is no lock in the center door. The crown is 6" tall. This impressive buffet is in very nice original condition- the only thing we have had done was the application of a nice coat of professional wooden furniture wax. Professionally. This has been described as the following: With follate scroll carving and mask carved terminals. The stepped pediment with carved motifs and central heraldic shield with horses sits above double central inset leaded glass doors. The ... moredoors are glazed and flanked by open-side display shelves surmounted with chimeras over 3 frieze drawers and four larger panel doors on a molded plinth base. The doors and drawers have been beautifully relief carved and exquisitely detailed. And the piece is also inter spaced with columns decorated with full relief carved renaissance chimeras" This buffet is estimated to be from the 1860's to 1880's and is almost positively Mahogany. On a scale of 1-100. We are 99.99% sure of the wood, but I like to leave that last.01% on the off chance a mistake was made. However, it was verified by someone who is nationally accredited with the NWFA, and has been in the both the wooden furniture and antiques as well as wooden flooring business for 20+ years. Unfortunately we do not know it's full history as we were lucky enough to find this at an incredible estate sale. As can be seen in the pictures. Almost every inch of this unit is exquisitely hand carved.
