ANTIQUE FRENCH COUNTRY 18 c. OAK BIBLIOTHEQUE BUFFET BOOKCASE Formally the top part of an 18th century French Buffet a Deux Corps currently used as a bookcase. The bottom part was lost through the centuries and the top was raised on bun feet and rounded apron was added to the bottom. This transformation took place a while ago and the wood shows some aging and doesn’t stand out. Two doors open wide. Revealing the interior, which is about 52” from side to side ... moreand 13” deep and 52” tall. We have added two 1 ½” thick heavy duty pine shelves. Which are completely adjustable and will hold a lot of weight. The shelves were aged to look old and will not stand out. The front doors are covered with gathered French country style fabric. Which can be removed so that you can see the interior through the glass. The lock is in working condition, complete with the key. The bibliotheque measures about 59” at the widest point and about 20 ¾” deep. It stands up about 63 ½” tall and the top surface can be used as a shelf. Displaying collectable items. Very heavy. Solid and well built item. The primer material is oak. However, secondary woods was also used on the sides and the back, which is common for 18th Century furniture. We were using it in our office for files and fabric samplers and it is hard to find a bookcase which will fit oversized files and provide such great access as this item does. This lot is listed for local pickup from 95031 Los Gatos. California, but can be shipped if you will cover the cost. Antique French Normandy Provincial Buffet. The hutch is two piece measuring 44 1/4" wide by 16 1/2" deep and stands 79" tall. The top can be mounted on the wall for additional work space. The bottom dresser top is full finished.The buffet features two plate rails a single lower silver drawer and a full cabinet with one shelf below. This is quite a handsome piece with figural carvings and spooled turnings. The piece is in excellent condition with the original hardware. The hardware could be polished to reveal the brass and make the piece pop. We have left in with the original patina for the purest. The Normandy buffet is legal antique and dates circa 1840. Exquisite antique French Provincial style buffet or sideboard made from beautifully grained cherry wood. This piece has many hallmarks of high quality construction. Including panelled sides and dovetail joints in the three drawers. Full length door hinges and ornate metal drawer pulls accent the front opf the piece as well as a simple floral carving on the valanced skirt. Three drawers and a generously sized lower cabinet make this a practical storage piece as well. The sideboard most liekly dates from around the 1840's. Overall. I restored this sideboard from top to bottom. This has 3 drawers(1 Long& 2 Medium) and 2 cabinet doors.A high quality crafted piece. Of course this features dovetail joinery in the drawer construction.This lovely piece maintains all of its original solid bronze hardware, which boasts exquisite detail and adds great charm to this piece. This buffet comes in 3 major pieces. It can be taken apart very easily for cleaning. Maintenance or repairs. It also ships very easily on wooden crates. It has an original finish to it, and was never varnished. The best way to maintain is to oil them regularly as they have been for the last century. This buffet shows evidence that it has been restored one or several times. It probably sustained some damage and needed repairs. It appears that there is also a combination of wood. Beautiful Antique French Sideboard China Cabinet. Doesn't fit in our new home so it must go. I am not an antique expert so I'll describe this as best I can. I was told by an antique dealer that this is from the mid to late 1800's. Please feel free to ask any questions. Has the original glass and key for the locks. Great overall condition. Has a small crack in the counter top area as shown. The dimensions are: 90" high. 55" wide, 23 1/2" deep. The counter-top is 38 1/2" high. 2-10"x48" shelves in the upper area. You can adjust the shelf height by moving some wood supports in the notched mounts. The key fits top& bottom locks and the locks function correctly. 1880 French Renaissance Louis XV. Profusely Carved Quarter-Oak Sideboard/Buffet. It has a very decorative pierced gallery with finials on each end. The top center has a heavily carved crown. The Sideboard/Buffet is made in three main sections. The base with two drawers and two doors with one interior. Removable shelf measures: 55" wide x 21 1/2" deep x 39" tall. The next section supports the top section with two columns and provides a decorative pierced plate rail. It measures: 16" tall x 12" deep. The plate rail is 4" deep with a 2" opening for plates. The third(top section) measures: 51" wide x 41" tall x 13 1/2" deep. It has 3 profusely carved doors. The center door appears to have been carved from one piece of wood and represents a man on a horse with a trumpet chasing a deer. This piece features a pierced arcade cornice with flanking sheraton finials. An inverted stepped edge. This piece is highlighted by a demilune barrel vault form with highly carved details. 19th century French Country Sideboard or Buffet
An early 19th Century enfilade from the North of France. Picardie, with cabinets on the end connected by a center vaisselier. The vaisselier with a center elaborate pierced slats has a shelf and was used to display plates and pots. Made of cherry and chestnut wood with two dovetailed drawers and two doors. Great proportions for this buffet with plenty of storage and also room for display. Usual restoration on the legs. 88" long 12" deep 43" high.
