Main body interior is 16 inches deep by 48 inches long by 30 inches tall. 2 front drawers with two side drawers. Swing out to the side as shown! Solid oak everywhere! Even the drawer linings. Draw sides and back are all oak and not an inferior wood. The interior is all oak. The doors lock but I have lost the key! Currently all the doors are unlocked! Inside at the back somebody cut a hole out. Not sure why that was done but it is there! The only newish part is an interior shelf which is in the main body. I believe it is still solid oak but it lacks the patina of the original. The glass is not damaged anywhere. The marble has exquisite shading and color. With pink, grey and purple variations. It has light scratches on the top and minor tiny chips on the edge as expected for a piece this age. It is not broken anywhere! The carvings are so wonderful with urns. Horns, ribbons, roses, tassels, swags and leaves. Both front panels have cracks on the decoration as seen in the photographs. Very reluctantly for sale! SUGGESTED RETAIL VALUE $ 4.900.00; WE TOOK OFF $3.000.00 TO COVER YOUR SHIPPING EXPENSE The bottom part was lost through the centuries and the top was raised on bun feet and rounded apron was added to the bottom. This transformation took place a while ago and the wood shows some aging and doesn’t stand ... moreout. Two doors open wide. Revealing the interior, which is about 52” from side to side and 13” deep and 52” tall. We have added two 1 ½” thick heavy duty pine shelves, which are completely adjustable and will hold a lot of weight. The shelves were aged to look old and will not stand out. The front doors are covered with gathered French country style fabric, which can be removed so that you can see the interior through the glass. The lock is in working condition, complete with the key. The bibliotheque measures about 59” at the widest point and about 20 ¾” deep. It stands up about 63 ½” tall and the top surface can be used as a shelf, displaying collectable items. Very heavy, solid and well built item. We were using it in our office for files and fabric samplers and it is hard to find a bookcase which will fit oversized files and provide such great access as this item does. The primer material is oak, however, secondary woods was also used on the sides and the back, which is common for 18th Century furniture. This lot is listed for local pickup from 95031 Los Gatos. This is a sideboard/buffett made by George Henshaw and Sons of Cincinnati Ohio. It is tiger oak has a Bevel Mirror. Lions Heads on each side of the mirror and Claw Feet. Bow Front Drawers in the center, and one Long Drawer all the way across the bottom. George Henshaw operated out of Cincinnati from apx 1840 till his death in 1881. After that the company name was changed to George Henshaws' Sons(not AND Sons) so the label on the back clearly dates the piece to this time frame. It is very sturdy and in overall Great Condition. It has a few marks on the front edge of top and some of the drawer handles are not complete. The lions head on the left side of the mirror was broken off but has been doweled and glued back on. The columns, for instance, appear to have once been part of another piece, as they have marks where a stretcher once would have joined them. Meanwhile, the counter, the pulls, and all but the fronts of the drawers were replaced later during the Victorian period, closer to the close of the 19th century. The backsplash, which itself bears visible signs of wear and repair, also appears to have been added at this time; a view of the back of the piece reveals the striking difference between the wood used in the upper and lower parts of the piece.The result of over two centuries of modifications have thus produced a remarkably beautiful carved oak server that remains as sturdy as it is elegant. This is a wonderful decorative piece. The ray itself has been restored. It is over 100 years old. I commisioned the Artist to do the painting in 2000. This is water resistant on the surface since restoration so it can be used, not just for show. The artist is a local NY artist out of Rochester and has a heavy following. She is mostly known for paintings on furniture and items like this. It is a beautiful tray and great colorful painting. On the sides of the tray are markings that read"General Radio CO" I am not sure if this was added at a later point but it appears to be a stamp or stencil that was on the tray when i purchased it.
