The carvings themselves are an art statement that would likely cost more than the entire sideboard. This is a great collectible piece of oak. The overall size is 54 inches wide, 25 inches deep, 39 inches high to the base and 86 inches high overall. The mirror glass size is 39 inches wide by 17 inches high. The mirror shows silver loss which adds charm and character. It has the original hardware. The knobs on the left-hand drawer has spacers instead of a washer, but it works. It has all the escutcheons.

for auction a wonderful antique quartersawn oak server or could be used as a sideboard in a smaller dining room sitting. it has great form and beauty. The top and bottom sides are bombayed, the center drawers are bowed in a fine fashion. three curved upperdrawers, the center with felt. it has two doors on either side as you see. the piece is presented in original finish, all the hardware is original and perfect including the door locks. each drawer has original lock, all locks work with ease and i have the original key for it. it has two fierce whole bodied griffins on the mirror crest which are carved in a very fine fashion. it has the original beveled mirror which needs to be cleaned. as i was cleaning the woodwork on the mirror frame some of the new life got on the mirror and i just wiped it off, should have used some water. anyway, the ... moremirror will clean up nicely and only has a few minor areas of silver loss. this is a very heavy piece, i can barely lift one end with the drawers out and the mirror off. it was made by a superior cabinet maker, possibly horner of new york, as the drawer construction with the birdseye maple bottom are very indicative of his work. it could have been made by berkey and gay from mich. really doesn't matter who made it. it is constructed with perfection. it has 4 very well carved claw feet that support it. the cabinet is in wonderful antique condition with great patina. i cleaned and polished it as it has been in storage for a few years. it is quite solid and everything that is suppose to work, works like the day it was made. there are no major blemishes but on a piece that is 120 years old you can expect a few little bumps and bruises, however, i would classify this piece as near mint condtion. it may be picked up at my home or shipped at buyer's expense. good luck fyi, i paid 2000 for it years ago, i am starting it at 2300. ebay has triple their fees, it used to be 3 percent, they raised to 10 percent, greedy bastards. at any rate, their commission and listing fees etc. wi

This piece has gorgeous grain and still retains its original DARK finish. Has two smaller drawers across the top and one large drawer across the middle. And cabinet with two doors below- all with original wooden knobs. Columns/pillars on either side of the mirror. It is in very good/excellent condition with some normal wear on the feet. Some small scuffs on the top(nothing major- the worst is shown) small nicks and scratches here and there, and the cabinet doors each need a latch. Otherwise great with maybe some dust. It's not too bad but as expected, you'd probably want to clean it to your liking before using it. The drawers have keyholes/key holes. I might have the ... morekey lying around- will have to check. What a cool piece this is? Again it's a out of the ordinary piece and that's what we try and buy. Just completed a total restoration bringing it back to it's original grandeur. Actually it's better now then when it was built originally. It's a earlier version dating to about 1860 but you couldn't tell from how clean it is. So unusual to find a server with so many neat features, the carved claw feet, carved goose/swan neck supports, gadrooned edged top, and highly figured veneer. This is a china buffet combination that dates back to the 1880's-1890's. It is solid wood with gorgeous wood veneer accents. It is absolutely breathtaking. And the craftsmanship is incredible. I honestly have never seen a piece that comes close to being so pretty. It still has the original curved glass, mirror and hardware. Incredible detail, even down to the claw feet.
