But the bottom half will require at least 4-6 men to move it. This piece has 7 locking doors. 4 drawers and 9 beautifully carved unique outdoor scenes. There is one shelf running the length of the top and one behind the doors on the bottom. This is all hand-made. It truly must be seen to be fully appreciated. I am not sure of the age. But one professional assessment put it in the Elizabethan period. There are no obvious markings indicating origin or age. Overall the piece is in very very good condition. There are two areas of damage. On the very top there is a crack and some damage on the underside of the top concealed behind the right pillar. Take a look at this gorgeous oak triple beveled glass sideboard with multi raised panels. A bulbous design front, paneled sides, multi tapered ... moreturned spindles, and is heavily carved, that dates from the 1890s. This came off a container from Europe, and although it looks American, it is most likely English. It would make a fantastic bathroom sink cabinet, if you could deal with the height of the base, because of the way the base has a carved middle drawer that bows out with ridges and the bulbous carved front. Just across the front of the base it has more than 20 deeply carved raised panels! If you took off the doors and drawer fronts, you could hang them on the wall as works of art. The top of the base doesn’t just have an ogee beveled edge, it has an amazing beveled edge that is twice as wide as normal. It has its original hardware, an applied bracket foot base, and then you look at the top. It has triple mirrors, the two outside large, oval and of beveled glass, and the center mirror of beveled glass with 45-degree corners. There are all kinds of raised panels, and there are candle shelves for lamps, and incredible acanthus carved pillars with cornices on top. Antique Heavily Carved Oak Sideboard European Origins Needs TLC
We are pleased to offer to the market this stunning European oak sideboard. This piece measures 53.75"W x 76.5"H to the back top x 19.5"D. It is 33.5" to the height of the work area. The top boasts an elaborate center carved panel depicting a scene with a man and a woman. This panel is flanked with more elaborately carved sections. Above and below there are spindles and on the sides there are also pinwheel style spindle& carving designs. There are elaborate floral designs surrounding the center panel. and separating the center panel from the panels with the pinwheel designs. Above the top spindles. The crest also boasts elaborate acanthus leaf carving with a center medallion of a bust of a man. The corners of the crest have small finials on them. One of these is broken off but we do have it. The work surface on this ... moreis in good condition with light surface scratches. Divets, and dings that are age and use appropriate. Below the work surface there are two carved front drawers with a carved medallion between them. The drawers have early joinery as shown in the photos. These also have what appears to be the original brass hardware. At the base of the piece there is a large surface for storage with two columns in the front as well as a small spindled gallery shelf. The bottom molding is ornately carved with the same floral medallion. There is a large crack and piece missing to the bottom molding. This sits on bun feet. There is one foot missing on the back and there is also one cracked. There are age and use appropriate scratches. Dings, and divets on this piece. There are areas that are also in need of repair. The condition of this cabinet would be considered excellent for its age, there is one wood shrinkage that goes across the width of the cabinet on the top of the base, this of course is not unusual for pieces this age and big, BUT the remainder is in outstanding condition with no other wood shrinkage issues, no breakage of carvings, there is however some slight staining, discoloration which again, is typical, but nothing that detracts the beauty of this piece, in fact it ... morejust authenticates its age and adds character. Elizabethan Solid Wood, Antique, Heavily Carved Buffet / Sideboard / Cabinet
At more than 9.5' wide. 6' tall, and 23" deep this massive decorative Brazilian oak(So I have been told) piece is absolutely amazing to look at. I recently moved from an much larger house and really do not have the room for this any more. This is HEAVILY carved and EXTREMELY detailed. The top section comes off for moving. But the bottom half will require at least 4-6 men to move it. This piece has 7 locking doors. 4 drawers and 9 beautifully carved unique outdoor scenes. There is one shelf running the length of the top and one behind the doors on the bottom. This is all hand-made. It truly must be seen to be fully appreciated. I am not sure of the age. But one professional assessment put it in the Elizabethan period. There are no obvious markings indicating origin or age. Overall the piece is in very very good condition. Up for Auction: One(1) Antique 19th Century Empire European Side-Stand circa 1830's-1850's. A friend of mine asked me to list this for him and I am giving you the info he has been given on it. I am not a collector or a furniture professional. So I am hoping the collectors out there will know about this awesome find! I'm told that the knobs date back to 1826 and that this piece came over by ship from possibly Ireland? The carving on this one is fabulous to say the least. Can't even imagine the amount of time that was invested in this to create such an awesome look back in the day! Lion's paw/claw feet/legs are beautifully done. Piece shows obvious signs of aging. Wear and some chips scratches and surface cracks. I have tried to capture the condition the best I could. Two knobs are off the front but my friend has one of ... morethem. Two are still in tact and on side stand. No key for keyholes. Back of unit has pushed away in a few spots and he nor I have made any attempt to re attach. It is still attached but needs to be nailed back completely. In addition- we have made no attempt whatsoever to clean this beauty in fear that we might do more harm than good! I will leave that to the buyer or the professionals that get paid big bucks to restore such furniture- if in fact that is your desire? This is a HUGE piece- it stands at 12' Tall, 8' Long, and 3' Wide* To give you a better understanding of the sheer size. The man standing in front of the cabinet in the 2nd picture is 6'6. This impressive buffet is in very nice original condition- the only thing we have had done was the application of a nice coat of professional wooden furniture wax. Professionally. This has been described as the following: With follate scroll carving and mask carved terminals. The stepped pediment with carved motifs and central heraldic shield with horses sits above double central inset leaded glass doors. The ... moredoors are glazed and flanked by open-side display shelves surmounted with chimeras over 3 frieze drawers and four larger panel doors on a molded plinth base. The doors and drawers have been beautifully relief carved and exquisitely detailed. And the piece is also inter spaced with columns decorated with full relief carved renaissance chimeras" This buffet is estimated to be from the 1860's to 1880's and is almost positively Mahogany. On a scale of 1-100. We are 99.99% sure of the wood, but I like to leave that last.01% on the off chance a mistake was made. However, it was verified by someone who is nationally accredited with the NWFA, and has been in the both the wooden furniture and antiques as well as wooden flooring business for 20+ years. Unfortunately we do not know it's full history as we were lucky enough to find this at an incredible estate sale. As can be seen in the pictures. Almost every inch of this unit is exquisitely hand carved. We currently have this piece stored in our business and we have yet to have a single client come in who hasn't been absolutely in awe upon seeing it, most asking if they can take pictures of or with the buffet.
