The two doors open on the base to expose a shelf interior. The center is the mirror panel with the pillars and is not a door. You have a double door front and a center with carved pillars. Walnut Victorian Sideboard Buffet with Hunt Theme
For auction is a large Victorian hunter sideboard that is 7 1/2 feet tall and 54" wide. It is missing one key escutcheon as seen in the close-up picture. The marble top is in good shape. And the left lower mirror may need re-silvering, but it does not detract from the beauty of the piece. It has no major flaws. I am offering local pick-up only in the Houston-Austin area. Being presented for sale is this Superb Victorian Walnut& Burl walnut Brown Marble Top Mirrored back Sideboard/ Buffet with carved Lion heads circa 1880. This 19th century piece is just gorgeous and would surely be a beautiful focal point in your home. This is a impressive sideboard with gorgeous spoon carvings. Finials, carved Lion heads,burl walnut panel accents and a fancy carved scroll and shell gallery as well as the original beautiful brown marble top and the original brass hardware and early dove-tailed ends on the drawers. This sideboard/ buffet measures a total height of 82 1/2 inches( 6 ft 10 1/2 in) to the top of the carvings on the very top center. Height from the floor to the top of the brown marble measures 36 1/2 inches,with a total width of 48 1/4 inches and a depth at the base of 21 1/2 inches and this pieces weighs approximately ... more250 lbs. This sideboard does dis-assemble into 4 pieces for easier handling during shipping and moving. The fine display shelf above the marble measures 26 inches in height above the marble top and the shelf measures 43 inches wide by 11 inches deep.The larger mirror measures 19 inches high by 33 inches wide, and the three mirrors at the top each measure 10 inches wide by 6 inches high. This is a fabulous piece in wonderful antique condition and the original brown marble top is also just beautiful with no apologies we can find. All the locks are intact but the key provided just aids in opening the cabinet doors and does not work the locks. There is a small piece of carving missing on the left side of the pediment inside of one of the scrolls. I have shown a close-up of in the pictures and appears to have been missing for a long time.nothing major in my opinion and definitely doesn't distract from the beauty of this gorgeous 19th century piece. The top right drawer on the inside by the lock is missing a sliver of wood which this cannot be seen unless you open the drawer and left door bottom has a slight hairline which I have shown in a close-up picture also. This super antique French 2 piece walnut buffet would date to the second half of the 19th century and is in good condition. The cupboard to the bottom has a single shelf to the inside which is enclosed with a pair of fine panel doors. These doors have a working lock with key which also operates the frieze drawers which run with ease. Have applied moldings and original ring handles. The top section has a panel back with 2 carved brackets which support the top shelf. This is all complimented with a fine raised carved pediment. This fabulous 19th century sideboard has a wow presence for sure and is solid and tight and in excellent antique condition for being approximately 130 years or so old. There is a small piece of the grapevine carving missing at the tip end of the grape cluster on the crest, and a tiny piece of molding missing on the right side right above the marble(see next to last picture) and the left door does present with a slight age shrinkage separation in the center that is not very noticeable but there, all which I have tried to capture in the pictures, nothing major in my opinion but wanted to point them out. An impressive, elegant sideboard that has withstood time very gracefully and would surely be a splendid focal point and a touch of elegance and grandeur to your home. P

The server show signs of high-quality construction including a paneled back and sides and sturdy dovetail joint drawers. The two drawers have fluted edges surrounding burl walnut inlay. Pressed brass pulls with a sun-like like design and silver-friendly linings. The lower cabinet has two doors, each with a burl walnut panel framed in a molded edge. The ring shaped pulls and brass escutcheons are made from brass. This piece most likely dates from the late 19th century. No maker's marks. The server is in good antique condition with some small holes in the marble top. See pictured example. The locks have been removed. But are being stored in one of the drawers and could probably be easily reinstalled ... moreby the buyer. Otherwise, there is only light wear commensurate with age and use. It is made from solid walnut and veneered walnut stained a warm dark brown. Overall the piece is in good antique condition. The doors open and close smoothly and the lock works. Throughout the piece there are various small chips. Cracks and stains that are to be expected on antiques of this age. Originally this sideboard was the base to a larger buffet and there were several peg holes in the top where the upper section was mounted. We believe tis piece to have its original marble and original brass hardware with the casters intact on the base. The mirror appears to be a vintage replacement and is nice and clear.
