I really have no idea what year this piece is or what it is worth or even if it is an serving buffet. Not sure of the wood but I would guess it might be walnut. 1800's Solid Cherry Marble Top and Backsplash Buffet, Server, Washstand
You are bidding on a beautiful solid cherry very unique piece of furniture. I have been using it in my foyer for years but it could be used for a sofa type piece behind a sofa that didn't sit against a wall. It would make a nice buffet or server in a kitchen or dining room. It would be great used as a vanity in a bedroom or bath but it would be absolutely georgous with a sink mounted either in it or one of those kind where the bowl sits on top of the cabinet. It would be great. If it would fit in my bathroom I wouldn't be selling it but unfortunately my bathrooms are all way to small. Please pay close attention to the photos. They are self explanatory. Here is an exquisite. Massive, Antique 19th cent. American(probably Horner) quarter sawn oak sideboard buffet server. Straight out of a Long Island estate. Was in the same family for 70 years. This piece was made around 1880 and represents carved oak at its best. Incredibly carved with lions' heads. Paws, ribbons, and scrolls. Doors are all carved scrolls with center cartouche. They are separated by 2 columns of carved ribbons and fruit. The drawers above have handles of lions' faces. The top is crowned with an incredible lion head. The only condition issues are a small ring stain and a darker area on the top front right. Also a thin slit in the wood appx 18 inch long. These are very minor and can easily be fixed. 18th century solid oak Butlers Hutch This was purchased over 30 years ago at the Antique Buyers guild( The old Helms Bakery L.A) We where told at the time of the purchase that it dates to the late 1700's and was made in the Adam period French in origin. It is a impressive piece of furniture. It is all hand carved solid oak. The cabinets each have one shelf inside bottom is sagging so I placed a piece of hard board in there. It has a incredible dark patina. It measures approx. 94 1/2" tall 47" wide under 24" deep The hutch is attached to the base using dowels So it lifts off the base From what I remember they only stick out a inch You need at least a 8' ceiling. My home was built in the late 1940's so the ceilings are 8'2" a newer home might be a tight fit. Years ago because I was concerned about earthquakes ... moreI attached 2) 2"x4"s to the back to make it sturdier. They are stained to match. So for those of you with a tight fit. I think it could be set up without the dowels across the back because of the 2" x4"s the 2 spindles in the front supporting the hutch also come off. There are dowels sticking out both ends. You could leave one end in and maybe put a screw trough the bottom. One other modification I noticed will up inside the cabinet is that wood was added on both sides under the base's top( I would guess the top may have been sagging under the weight of the Hutch) hence the addition. There are 2 small dowels missing on the rail on the inside( good place) hardly noticeable. One small piece gone off the top. Again hardly noticeable. I didn't catch it when I bought it. Other then that as you can see it is impressive without being over bearing. I don't need to sell so I don't plan on dropping my prices. This price is what I want to part with it. Then upper cabinet with foliate carved panels and display shelf raised on baluster form supports over a three drawer, three door base cabinet similarly relief carved with fruit filled urns and foliate panels. Made in England, Regency period circa 1820, Mahogany, Keys included, Beautiful patina, Antique brass hardware(not original) Age split to top. Purely cosmetic, Very sturdy, This unique sideboard was made during the Regency period in England. Sometime around 1820. In keeping with classic Regency period design, this sideboard was crafted with a series of large, bold features that have helped not only to make it a beautiful specimen of English craftsmanship, but also a strong and enduring furniture piece. For example, the wood used in this sideboard is ... moreincredibly thick(note the large legs) and of course all of it is solid. The flame mahogany, which has developed a lovely patina, displays an incredibly rich grain and complexion. The solid brass handles have been replaced at some point, but they are antique themselves and go well with the Regency period. The two center drawers, right large drawer, and left cabinet door all lock with included keys. The right drawer has a fitted interior that was used for holding wine bottles. There is an age split to the top on the back right hand side, but this is very minor and purely cosmetic. A picture is included of it. The top has minor marks throughout that show as distressing that gives the piece authenticity of its age without detracting from it. Overall this sideboard is very sturdy and is a wonderful value for such a wonderful piece. Plenty of storage space in this sideboard. The left drawer is fitted to hold wine bottles. The drawers are jointed with hand cut dovetails. These antique brass pulls are not original to the piece. But are consistent with the style. The thick. Turned legs are one of the main characteristics of the Regency style. The mahogany has developed a beautiful patina.

The bottom part was lost through the centuries and the top was raised on bun feet and rounded apron was added to the bottom. This transformation took place a while ago and the wood shows some aging and doesn’t stand out. Two doors open wide. Revealing the interior, which is about 52” from side to side ... moreand 13” deep and 52” tall. We have added two 1 ½” thick heavy duty pine shelves. Which are completely adjustable and will hold a lot of weight. The shelves were aged to look old and will not stand out. The front doors are covered with gathered French country style fabric. Which can be removed so that you can see the interior through the glass. The lock is in working condition, complete with the key. The bibliotheque measures about 59” at the widest point and about 20 ¾” deep. It stands up about 63 ½” tall and the top surface can be used as a shelf. Displaying collectable items. Very heavy. Solid and well built item. The primer material is oak. However, secondary woods was also used on the sides and the back, which is common for 18th Century furniture. We were using it in our office for files and fabric samplers and it is hard to find a bookcase which will fit oversized files and provide such great access as this item does. Being offered for sale is this very Large Victorian Tiger Oak Sideboard/ Buffet with Carved North Wind Faces. Brass North Wind Pulls and Carved Paw Feet circa 1895. This outstanding 19th century sideboard features an abundance of detailed carvings from top to bottom and has three working keys, the original beveled mirrors and the original ornate brass hardware. This sideboard measures a total height from the floor to the top of the carved pediment at the back of 80 inches. With a height to the base at the front of 37 3/4 inches, total width of 59 1/2 inches and depth at the base portion of 24 inches and this massive sideboard weighs approximately 250 lbs and does disassemble into 2 pieces for easier handling during shipping and moving. The fine display shelf measures 59 inches wide by 13 inches deep and is 21 1/2 inches in height from the ... moretop of the base. This tiger oak sideboard is very solid and tight and has a gorgeous presence. The three keys work the locks on the drawers(one key for each drawer) but neither of the keys work the locks on the cabinet doors. The top right drawer does have divided compartments for flatware with newer green felt lining. We believe the large beveled mirrors to be original or at least antique replacements and there is some light spotting and some mild silver loss as common in old mirrors. The top mirror does show a small fracture in the bottom right corner that appears to have been there for sometime and not a major issue in my opinion but there. I have a close up picture of this area. The very front right corner of the sideboard base shows some wear and scuffing please see picture and as common in antiques the top of the sideboard does show some age and usage marks one expects to see on pieces over 100 years old.This outstanding sideboard/ buffet offers a tremendous amount of storage space and is definitely a statement piece to add to your dining area. The top of this sideboard features a grape and leaf carved motif resting between upward curved panels ending in carved rosettes. Curving downward between the original beveled mirrors is a beautiful burl walnut panel that stops at a small shelf. Under the mirrors is another shelf and long burl panel. Each side has a lovely turned support ending with a turned finial on top. The brown and white Tennessee marble is just beautiful with no chips or cracks. The bottom of this sideboard offers lots of storage with four drawers(1 has small piece of veneer missing see photo) which have the original brass hardware and three compartments with doors( 1 has age crack see photos) The ... morecenter doors at the bottom have the same grape and leaf carvings as the top and same turned side post.
