There is a short top shelf above the backsplash mirror. The mirror appears to be original and it does have some slight fogging and freckling. The backsplash mirror is beveled and flanked by“S” corbels supporting the upper shelf. The base has 4 drawers and 2 doors all with wood knob pulls. The two top drawers are bow front. The drawer on the left is lined with faded green velvet and divided into 3 sections. The drawers all have dovetail construction and glide in and out easily. The doors hide open storage. Casters sit beneath the large curved Empire style feet on all 4 legs. This piece does have some nicks and scuffs from the years however it is in overall great condition. I do not know the maker or exact date it was made. This piece is antique and will not be perfect. This buffet measures 55 1/8 inches tall. 61 ¾ inches side to side and 25 3/8 inches front to back. It's tiger oak exterior is sooo beautiful. They just dont make furniture like they used to. This buffet(or sideboard) has extraordinary detail. Yet at the same time is simple and elegant. A straight cut top blends into the rolled front silverware and napkin drawers, curved front linen drawer, and bottom doors that conceal your finest china. The beautifully rolled legs go all the way down the sides for a majestic appearance. Brass knobs match brass key holes on all three drawers that lock away your special things for just the right occasion. One key fits all three drawers and it IS included. That's right, we DO have the original Eagle Lock Co. key! The silverware drawer ... moreis divided into three sections and is lined with the original green velvet. The napkin and linen drawers are not lined. The linen drawers offers tons of space so you can be sure all of your treasured tablecloths will fit. Two doors open on the bottom to reveal a large storage space that is more than adequate for your finest china. On the sides of the buffet you will find more gorgeous Tiger Oak and straight back legs that go from the top to the bottom of the buffet for a strong support. The back is finished with standard plywood and is original to the piece. Originally there was a top for the buffet but I do not have that piece, and to be quite honest I think the piece works much better with today's decor without the top. As you can see in the photos, the finish overall is nice, but it does have some nicks and chips in a few places, as can be expected with a piece that is almost 200 years old. Antique tiger oak beveled serpentine mirror carved griffins buffet / sideboard
Here is a fantastic tiger oak buffet/ sideboard with fully carved griffins at the ends of the beveled serpentine mirror. Its ALL original. My grandparents had this when it was new. It has been in my family since day one. Im the last one to have it and its time to let it go. It has been refinished only ONCE. Just re varnished about 30+ ago. Very clean inside and out. No stains, Drawers slide easily! The buffet measures 48 in wide. 24 in deep, and 56 in to top of mirror. 40 in to top of buffet, mirror is almost 17 in tall itself, the serpentine mirror is 3.5 in deep itself and the fully carved griffins are 9.5 in tall and 2.5 in thick. The only things missing are the key to the drawers and some of the metal tab stoppers for the drawers but they can be replaced. The feet are carved lion paws with the wood wheel casters. The back of the mirror ... morehas the number 613 painted on back. Which is probably the model number and the words Doll Class, which may mean the grade of quality of the piece. Its an excellent quality buffet. ALL the tiger oak veneer is present and in excellent condition, This piece needs no work and the mirror is screwed to the buffet with 10 wood screws( it comes off for easy moving) ONLY the bottom linen drawer needed to be re glued& re nailed, the linens were very heavy. Available for your condsideration is an Antique Victorian Era/ Turn of the Century Sideboard/ Buffet which is made of a Beautiful Tiger Oak Wood. This Antique Tiger Oak Sideboard/ Buffet is in Good Used Condition. I believe the mirror to be newer replacement and not original to the piece. The mirror is in excellent condition with No Chips. Cracks or Scratches to the silvering. In the back of the large single middle drawer in the upper right hand corner/ back piece is a knot hole. Finally, the lower right hand bottom door is stuck and I believe is due to the ball latch being frozen, can probably be easily fixed. No other problems to report and the finish on the entire piece is in very good condition. This Vintage Tiger Oak sideboard measures about 51" in height when including the mirror and 38" high to the top of the buffet. This ... morebuffet measures 42 1/2" wide and 20" deep. Purchased in 1993 from a local owner and used in my family for 20 years. It has the original key(locks work) And the original wheels on feet. The mirror has the original silvering, and does have some minor small flaws but only in the edges. The piece is all solid tiger sawn oak, has heavy cast brass hardware with lion faces, a couple of the key holes do not match, there is one key for the door lock, raised panel drawer, ribbed drawers, carved panels, carved serpent on the extra tall drawer, big north wind faces on the two other doors that are similar to the carvings on the top, a multi-spindle multi-carved stepped in gallery top is finished with an art nouveau gallery support, ... morecarved columns are finished off with claw feet and the side even has picture frame molded panels. The sideboard has been completely stripped, glued, sanded, stained with a dark oak finish stain and multiple coats of hand rubber lacquer have been applied. Antique French sideboard 19th Century Tiger Oak Beveled Glass & Brass
This is a very charming Antique French sideboard from the mid-late 19th Century made of Tiger oak. Medium color with beautiful beveled glass on the upper door fronts as well as a beveled mirror on the center. It features carved brass detailing throughout and on the door pulls. There is shelving in both the upper and lower cabinets. The upper and lower components detach for easier transport. This was imported from a shop in France. This is one spectacular piece of Victorian era Empire Style furniture. All done in great detail, with beautiful shell motiff at the top surrounded by kissing dolphins, and very detailed dolphins on each side holding up the top shelf, and all in fantastic condition from top to bottom! It even has shell carvings on each door at the lower portion. It retains its original patina on the tiger oak, as well as its original pulls and locks and even still has the key!
