Inspired by the designs of Boulle under Louis XIV, this ebonized mahogany cabinet features extensive ormolu bronze mounts and brass marquetry. Lower cabinet doors open to reveal two shelves with old red velvet and the Druce and Co. nameplate. The upper cabinet features glazed and curved glass side panels and glazed doors and two adjustable shelves. Overall condition is good. There is a crack with losses to the brass in the upper left section of the lower left door, and other minor cracks to the brasses. There is a narrow vertical crack on the left side of the cabinet, and a few missing mounts, including the reed-and-tie border to the upper window on the right side, and the glass is cracked in the upper panel as well. I am unsure of the age of the cabinet, but I would guess that it dates to the early ... moreto mid-19th Century. It is made of what I believe is walnut, and has hand crafted, pressed, and hammered copper panels in the doors, drawer fronts, and top molding. It has lion head accents in both the copper panels and the wood, as well as detailed carved accents and brass rings hanging from several of the lion heads. There are a couple of the wooden lion heads that are damaged, with the lower jaw and brass ring broken off and missing. There is one brass ring still present with the cabinet, that could possibly be re-attached. The wood on the inside of the drawer is beginning to split at the back bottom, as can be seen in the photos.

This elegant English sideboard is made of walnut and is in original finish. It is hand carved with grapes and leaves and has dovetail construction. This is a quality. Well built piece of furniture. The mirror is beveled and has intact silver and the brass hardware is original. There are 3 drawers with 2 doors on either side. One door houses 2 pullouts and the other has shelves. As far as condition there are age crack in the op which I have shown in detailed pictures. There is a crack on one side. Also pictured. At the back where the mirror rests there is minor damage. Before pushing on much further we want to stop and point out a few things. These would be that we got this in a bit dry so we applied a mild citrus feeding wax to it. That is causing the pictures to appear a bit shiny. We have not completed its detailing yet. Your are looking at straight off the truck pictures. We loosely attribute it to the Allison Brothers workshop in New York City. Since our transplanting from Boston about a decade ago we encounter a lot of New York City period furniture. We are intrigued by the genius and creativity of these innovative thinks and artisans. The level of craftsmanship from the workshops of Duncan Phyfe. Sylvester, the Allisons, etc is exceptional. As here this piece is just wonderful and a well thought our piece to be utilized in living spaces with limited room. This pieces just lacks in nothing! It has wonderful original brass Sheraton period pull, an original finish with cleaned surface and in very good overall condition, It was professionally maintained and has a few very high quality veneer repairs to its bookmatched crotched mahogany panels. The grains' configuration on the base cabinet doors and side panels are just masterful. These are not pieces we encounter often and its an exciting very high quality cabinet. It stands on smartly turned Sheraton legs that are just perfect in scale to the cabinet

Beautiful and well preserved sideboard buffet server. Red/Brown Marble with no cracks or chips. There are ink stains in the upper drawers. But this is part of its history and character. Skeleton key lock in perfect working order. The detail if the spindles and the upper hand carved piece are exquisite. The marble is approximately 1/4 inch thick and is recessed into the top. It is flush with the top. This piece is solid wood and doesn't appear to have been refinished or altered from it original state. The exact date of this piece is unknown. This piece was originally believed to be 17th century but after taking it to a local appraiser we learned it was a 19th century reproduction. Even though it is a reproduction he did say it was most likely made mid 19th century. It was a free verbal appraisal so there is no paperwork. After doing quite a bit of research I found only original pieces for sale and they had different various inner box's. These similar Desk's sell from $4.000 to $35,000 depending on origin and extent of decorative finish's. If you Bing"Spanish Vargueno" you will see for yourself. An Early 19th Century British Colonial Server made in the 1830s for the Shakespeare family of Hodges Estate. A 3,000 acre Sugar Plantation near Black River in St. Elizabeth Parish, Jamaica. This Early 19th Century Server is a typical example of the West Indies Colonial style. It later passed by descent to the Griffiths family and it remained in Hodges Great House until the 1970s when a member of the Griffiths family took it to his house in Mandeville, Jamaica. For auction here is a lovely example of a 19th century antique walnut buffet sideboard used in dining rooms and large kitchens for storing and displaying your china. As you can see it has a lovely patination. Quality fielded and carved panels along with nicely balustraded shelves, the drawers are fully oak lined. The top of the sideboard has opened up a little( see photo) due to shrinkage commensurate with a piece of furniture of this age but does not affect its function. The plinth base. Raised on feet, supports the cupboard with twin, field panel doors decorated with delicate foliate carving and flanked by turned pilasters. Within the scroll moulded frieze between the upper and lower cupboards two drawers emerge with elaborate'kissing fish' handles. The upper cupboard. It was built in the mid 19th Century during the Renaissance revival period and measures approximately 112" x 54" x 24" It has the original finish and the door hinges are tight. Nineteenth(19th) Century French Hutch/Buffett Good Condition 8' tall Nineteenth(19 th) Century French Hutch/Buffett Antique- It is 8’ tall with finials. 6’ 10” wide. The bottom section is 33” deep and the top section is 18“ deep. The 4 winged griffins that hold the top section are 14" high. This is the first antique I ever collected beginning in 1982. It was purchased from the Antique Guild in Los Angeles, CA. One key opens and locks the two doors at the bottom, two drawers in the middle and two glass doors at the top. There is a bit of filler in one spot and a nick or more if one looks closely. See the pictures for a more detailed look. The two most notable spots are highlighted. Also, there is a missing finial. They are removable and one can be cloned by a wood worker if desired. The buffet breaks down into three sections, bottom, ... moremiddle and top. English Regency Style Mahogany Sideboard on Spade Feet c. Antique 19th Century
ENGLISH REGENCY STYLE MAHOGANY SIDEBOARD OF DIMINUTIVE PROPORTIONS A highly desirable size at only 48 3/8" wide Predominantly c. 1st Quarter of the 19th Century Item# 1408ZSQ10A An outstanding piece for anyone with a smaller dining space. This piece is probably at least somewhat altered in order to make it more desirable for such areas. We would assume it was altered or composed during the late 19th Century using a period sideboard from the first years of the 19th Century, lending it all of the patina and vivid craftsmanship we cherish in period objects while allowing it to be suitable for the modern dining room of that era. Few period sideboards are of the right size to aesthetically work with the average dining room, but this piece is of the perfect dimensions to do so. The craftsmanship is impeccable with bold and well selected crotch ... moremahogany veneers on the drawer and flanking doors. These protected by cockbead molding around the edges and over the hand dovetailing of the drawer. The cast Lion Mask pulls are correct for the period but are later replacements using the same holes. The frame from beneath shows the exposed dovetailing that joins the frame permanently, the entire piece resting over tapered legs on spade feet. While this is not a good choice for the purist collector. It is an absolutely fabulous sideboard for anyone with a more petite dining room space who loves the warmth and wear of a early objects. It is in outstanding condition and will certainly be a cherished part of your dining room for a lifetime. Measurements: 48 3/8" W x 23 3/8" D x 36 1/8" H Condition Report: Probably at least partially altered using 19th Century components. Top replaced, pulls are replacements in the same holes, old gouge to right side of the case(well oxidized with a nice patina) chip beneath drawer. Sturdy and strong.
