The sideboard is in amazing condition, with very little sign of wear ... moreat all. It is the original finish and the mirror has the original glass intact. There are a few light surface scratches to the finish from general use, but it has been very well cared for, and is in amazing condition. I am unsure of the exact age or manufacture of the piece, but I do know that was originally contructed between 1870 and 1899. The sideboard has short reverse scroll feet with beautiful carving that runs up the side supports from the feet. The sideboard has carved accents on the front of the doors, at the outer edges of the large drawer, with matching carved details on the top mirrored frame and pillar supports.

Measurements are as follows: 84"W x ... more69"T X 24"D. Weight: approx. 150-200lbs. There are a couple of small trim pieces where the backsplash meets the base that are missing, a couple that are loose. The top section of the backsplash has seperated and a couple small pieces of carved trimwork are missing as a result(can be seen in the pics) There is a small a chip on the front left edge of the table surface. One of the locks is missing from one of the doors and there is a stain on the top that can be clearly seen in the photo. Im sure there are other bumps/bruises but nothing glaring. All that having been said, this piece is really stunning in person and all of the condition issues are fairly simple repairs. The flaws I mentioned are only noticed upon close scrutiny and have never been pointed out to me by anyone who has seen it in person. Original finish is in good shape, just as it appears in the photos. The color, in person, is probably somewhere between the lightest and darkest photos. The carving on this piece is AWESOME! The quartersawn grain is heavy and pronounced. Bought this piece and the matching server, which I will be listing soon) to restore but I am out of time/space. I feel I have a reasonable opening bid on this piece but if it does not sell, I will restore it and the price will go up considerably. Personally, im kinda getting burned out on the figurals and winged griffins that usually adorn pieces of this quality so its nice to see a great piece without that typical subject matter. It has a great crest on it. The overall size is 54 inches wide, 21 inches deep, 39 inches high to the marble and 96 inches high to the top. The door compartments are divided with a shelf on each side. There are some specks of white paint on one side where someone must have splattered paint when painting a wall that I am sure would clean up. There are a few pieces of molding missing that aren’t anything major, but I wanted to mention it. Other than three or four little sections with the molding issues, it is in really nice condition.

The buffet has two drawers, and two doors that open to large inner compartments with one shelf on each side. The doors and drawers all have the original brass hardware on them. One side of the buffet has had a magnetic closure installed to help with keeping the door closed. The spot where the mirrored top fits onto the buffet can clearly be seen in the wear at the top of the buffet. The drawers have dovetail joints. The original wood paneled back is still intact and in good condition as well.

This buffet was my grandfathers. He got it some time around 1900. It has been sitting in my parents home for at least 60 years. We believe it was made in Europe. It is a massive piece of furniture. It features a total of five wood carved Griffin faces. A large beveled mirror with curved edges and a 72" by 24" table top. There are two large ornately carved winged Griffins with feet on both sides of the large beveled glass mirror. The mirror measures 57" by 21" There are three heavily carved drawers. Antique tiger oak beveled serpentine mirror carved griffins buffet / sideboard
Here is a fantastic tiger oak buffet/ sideboard with fully carved griffins at the ends of the beveled serpentine mirror. Its ALL original. My grandparents had this when it was new. It has been in my family since day one. Im the last one to have it and its time to let it go. It has been refinished only ONCE. Just re varnished about 30+ ago. Very clean inside and out. No stains, Drawers slide easily! The buffet measures 48 in wide. 24 in deep, and 56 in to top of mirror. 40 in to top of buffet, mirror is almost 17 in tall itself, the serpentine mirror is 3.5 in deep itself and the fully carved griffins are 9.5 in tall and 2.5 in thick. The only things missing are the key to the drawers and some of the metal tab stoppers for the drawers but they can be replaced. The feet are carved lion paws with the wood wheel casters. The back of the mirror ... morehas the number 613 painted on back. Which is probably the model number and the words Doll Class, which may mean the grade of quality of the piece. Its an excellent quality buffet. This Buffet belonged to my wife's Great Great Grand Father. Who came to Stillwater Oklahoma in 1888 just before the landrun. His name was Jim Johns he helped with the founding of Stillwater and had the third business in Stillwater. Jim Johns Livery and Auctioneer. He was also the first Justice of the Peace in Stillwater and ran for two terms. After settling in Stillwater he bought his Furniture from helmers and had it shipped here, which shoud have been between 1890-1900. We also have all of the documentation to prove when he came to Stillwater, we have all of his property tax receipts. Because of the size and weight it is listed as local pick up only, but if someone wants it we can make arrangements for shipping at your expence. With new pictures at time of shipping to assure you it will still be in the condition it is now.
