The sideboard is in amazing condition, with very little sign of wear ... moreat all. It is the original finish and the mirror has the original glass intact. There are a few light surface scratches to the finish from general use, but it has been very well cared for, and is in amazing condition. I am unsure of the exact age or manufacture of the piece, but I do know that was originally contructed between 1870 and 1899. The sideboard has short reverse scroll feet with beautiful carving that runs up the side supports from the feet. The sideboard has carved accents on the front of the doors, at the outer edges of the large drawer, with matching carved details on the top mirrored frame and pillar supports.

There are some specks of white paint on one side where someone must have splattered paint when painting a wall that I am sure would clean up. Measurements are as follows: 84"W x ... more69"T X 24"D. Weight: approx. 150-200lbs. There are a couple of small trim pieces where the backsplash meets the base that are missing, a couple that are loose. The top section of the backsplash has seperated and a couple small pieces of carved trimwork are missing as a result(can be seen in the pics) There is a small a chip on the front left edge of the table surface. One of the locks is missing from one of the doors and there is a stain on the top that can be clearly seen in the photo. Im sure there are other bumps/bruises but nothing glaring. All that having been said, this piece is really stunning in person and all of the condition issues are fairly simple repairs. The flaws I mentioned are only noticed upon close scrutiny and have never been pointed out to me by anyone who has seen it in person. Original finish is in good shape, just as it appears in the photos. The color, in person, is probably somewhere between the lightest and darkest photos. The carving on this piece is AWESOME! The quartersawn grain is heavy and pronounced. Bought this piece and the matching server, which I will be listing soon) to restore but I am out of time/space. I feel I have a reasonable opening bid on this piece but if it does not sell, I will restore it and the price will go up considerably. Personally, im kinda getting burned out on the figurals and winged griffins that usually adorn pieces of this quality so its nice to see a great piece without that typical subject matter. We have been buying some really nice items on the Cape lately, just like this piece. This particular piece has a breakfront where the marble steps out in the middle, carved pillars coming down through the center door, outside doors and right across the top is all burl walnut with dainty inlaid trim. The two doors open on the base to expose a shelf interior. The center is the mirror panel with the pillars and is not a door. You have a double door front and a center with carved pillars. The looking glass is scratched and worn, which adds charm and character. The inlaid appears to be in nice shape.

I am unsure if the glass in the mirror is original to the piece, but it is also in excellent condition. This sideboard has amazing carved details, and is very majestic, while being delicate and ornate at the same time. There are a few places in the top carved details where the wood is cracked and beginning to split. There is a small trim piece missing from the front top decorative piece, in the “dragon’s tail”. This can be seen in the photos. The top piece by itself is 40” tall, 48” wide, with the mirror being 23” wide, 29.25” top to bottom, the trim at the top of the piece is 51” wide. There is 11.5” from the shelf to the top overhang of the piece.

The bottom doors open and has"saw tooth. There are no shelves for the bottom piece. I haven't seen them during the 45 years that mom had the piece. This Server is sitting in the back room of my shop, and I just didn't have the room to focus for a picture. The glare is terrible in some of the pics. And the blue showing in the mirror is from a tarp thats hanging in the building. I had the server redone as far as replacing the marble top. And all the drawer pulls. The piece features three doors on the front which open to reveal shelves. This is a door on the side which opens to reveal a leaf holder. This would have been used to store up to five of the leaves from an extending table. But today could also have other uses. The gorgeous flame mahogany is a wonderful colour which is the result of 150 years of sunlight and can not be reproduced today. ANTIQUE 1870's VICTORIAN RENAISSANCE CARVED MAHOGANY MARBLE TOP SIDEBOARD w/ MIRROR The base is mahogany veneers with solid mahogany carvings. The upper piece above the marble is solid mahogany. There are areas of missing and damaged veneer on the base. The drawer pulls are not original. And the drawer locks have been removed. One of the pads(back left) the base rests on is missing. The spindle detail on the left side of the base under the marble is missing. There is some silver loss to the mirrors. The marble has some staining and a few scratches that don't detract from the piece. The dimensions are 46" wide x 21" deep x 74" tall overall and 39" tall to the top of the marble. This fabulous English oak solid wood sideboard is 2 sections- top and bottom. The bottom has 4 drawers and 3 cupboards- the 2 center drawers are bowed. The cupboard side doors are single and center cupboard is a double door. It features a bowed carved front between the drawers and the center compartment- center cupboard is open up into that bowed area. Original brass"butterfly" hardware with a stylized design- one broken handle on bottom center door. The top section features 3 beveled mirrors and 4 shelves supported by carved columns. There is a sunflower motif on the pediment top center along with multiple carved flowers and leaf designs all over the front. Scrolls along the very top and sides. Large C19th Antique Victorian Carved Oak Flemish Mirror Sideboard Dresser
For auction here we have a beautiful carved oak Victorian sideboard dating to the latter part of the 19th century. This impressive sideboard of large proportions has a large mirror upstand with ornate carved showframe over a base of inverted breakfront form with frieze drawers supported by twin pedestals with ornately carved fielded panel doors united by undertier and raised on plinth base. The carving throughout is of high quality with floral detailing and crisp edges. The sideboard is in good working order with no worm or splits. The only worthy note being that some of the top crest carving is missing but its not noticeable and one side could be adapted to match the other if needed. This is a pretty much untouched. Original as-found unbelievable Eastlake incise carved mirror backed spindle galleried top ICEBOX! Yes, ... moreit’s an icebox. Even though it looks like a sideboard, this is a two-door icebox with a mirror buffet back, that came out of a really nice home. I had one of these about 22 years ago, and this is only the third one I’ve had in my 43 years in this business. Made of walnut and in its original finish, it has the original brass Victorian embossed hardware doorknobs, and even the faucet is original. The faucet will have to be re-soldered so it doesn’t drip or leak. When opened, you can see the original zinc lining that just needs to be buffed up. It has the water tanks, the shelves, and just about everything except the original key. The top cover lifts up and you put the ice in, and there is a water faucet right in the icebox. It must have been a marvel in the 1870s or‘80s when it was built? Unfortunately someone has ripped the label off the back, and I don’t know the original manufacturer. The top has a stick and ball gallery, incise carved panels, three-quarter inch beveled rectangular mirror in the center, and even the little tiny finials in the top. It was made in England around 1890 and today resides in our antique furniture store in Atlanta, GA. With a width of 40″ this little server can go in a number of places besides the dining room. It would be great in an entryway or at the end of a hallway with a nice mirror or painting above it. The mahogany wood has a great patina to it. Something ... morethat only happens with time. The finish is in great shape, being a waxed finish that is easily freshened up with furniture paste wax. You will notice some dark stains, a ring, and some surface marks to the top in the photos. These are normal for a piece of this age that has been used and serves to add character to the sideboard. We have rated this sideboard in good condition. Both of the drawers open and close easily and are made with hand cut dovetails. The left lock is broken and there is no key for either lock. While the four legs are connected with a stretcher. The sideboard is a little top heavy which gives it a slight wobble when pushed on. It is quite sturdy enough for everyday use with a large lamp on it, but would not withstand the weight of a person sitting on the edge of it. This is a rare mahogany Victorian sideboard. It has beautiful flame grained mahogany veneers. The top has shapely openwork galleries dovetailed together and graduated spool turned posts ending in delicate finials.The shelves and base are framed with decorative beaded arrow design moldings. The dovetailed drawer has a desk and inkwell cubbies inside.There is an age crack in the desk top(inside the drawer) The cabinet base has the original shelf. This piece is a very desirable and rare diminutive size. The craftsmanship is outstanding.It has a lovely patina. Here is an absolutely gorgeous late 19th century Scottish mahogany sideboard with shield back decorative mantle and lovely doors. Top surface and side panels. This wonderful circa 1870-1880's Victorian buffet has ample storage with it's three large drawers and open cabinet space below, including fittings for several additional drawers in the far left cabinet as shown. Recently imported from the UK through Edinburgh, Scotland this terrific oversize mahogany cabinet is a real find, particularly in such nice original condition. This sideboard stands 69 inches wide by 26 1/2 inches front to back. Measuring 50 inches tall to the top of the removable mantle with carved shield back wood decorative and with a work surface height of 38 3/4 inches tall. The two large outer drawers are each 16 1/2 inches wide by 20 1/2 inches front to back by ... more2 inches deep while the center drawer is 27 inches wide by 19 1/2 inches front to back by 2 inches deep. The two outer lower cabinet offer space behind the lovely doors 17 1/4 inches wide by 26 inches tall. On the far left there are two shelves within their fittings, each 16 1/2 wide by 19 1/2 inches front to back by 3 1/2 inches deep, with about 15 inches tall by 20 inches front to back open space below. On the right side, this space is simply divided in two by one fixed shelf that creates space 14 1/4 inch wide by 20 inches front to back with 11 inches clearance above the shelf and 14 1/2 inches clearance below the shelf above the base of the cabinet. The interior of the large central cabinet with it's lovely paneled back is 28 inches wide by 18 inches front to back and also 26 inches tall, with one removable shelf which can be used to divide the cabinet space or not. Antique Victorian Mirrored Inlaid Server Marble Top Sideboard English c. 1800's
Stunning Victorian mirrored sideboard or server. This ornate piece features carved decorations cresting each of its three sections. The center section has a large arched mirror with beveled edges. To each side of it are smaller oval beveled mirrors surrounded by filigree inlay and framed by turned columns. Each side section also features a small shelf over a larger serving area with molded edges. While the center section is slightly recessed and has been covered with beautiful rose-colored marble. Below the serving surfaces are two dovetail-jointed drawers with decorative brass bail handle pulls incised with geometric designs that resemble ankhs. The bottom half of this piece features three spacious cabinets, each framed by turned columns and with a mirrored and inlaid door that is opened with a key. This piece most likely dates from the ... moremid 1800's and is English in style and probably originated there. This piece is in fair to good antique condition with some minor breakage including and small break to the center crest. Breaks to the arched frames around two of the lower mirrors, a sizable chip to the veneer on the center door and a crack through the mirror surround on the upper right side, but no structural damage. Please examine the pictures provided. Otherwise this piece only has light wear associated with age and use. This impressive server stands 84" tall and measures 59" wide and about 17 1/2" deep. On offer here we have a good Victorian mahogany inlaid bowfront sideboard dating to the latter part of the 19th century. This good sized example has a string inlaid top over a central bowfront drawer flanked by cupboard doors being raised atop square tapering legs terminating in spade feet. Each drawer and cupboard have been finished with good string inlay and brass lion mask handles. The sideboard is in good order being free from worm or splits with working keys. Antique Victorian Burl Walnut Marble Top Server c. 1800's Sideboard Buffet
Gorgeous Victorian era marble top server or sideboard. This beautiful piece has been capped with a gray and white marble top with rounded corners. The server show signs of high-quality construction including a paneled back and sides and sturdy dovetail joint drawers. The two drawers have fluted edges surrounding burl walnut inlay. Pressed brass pulls with a sun-like like design and silver-friendly linings. The lower cabinet has two doors, each with a burl walnut panel framed in a molded edge. The ring shaped pulls and brass escutcheons are made from brass. This piece most likely dates from the late 19th century. No maker's marks. The server is in good antique condition with some small holes in the marble top. See pictured example. The locks have been removed. But are being stored in one of the drawers and could probably be easily reinstalled ... moreby the buyer. Otherwise, there is only light wear commensurate with age and use.
