ANTIQUE SOLID OAK BUTLERS HUTCH SIDEBOARD CHINA BUFFET CIRCA LATE 1700
18th century solid oak Butlers Hutch This was purchased over 30 years ago at the Antique Buyers guild( The old Helms Bakery L.A) We where told at the time of the purchase that it dates to the late 1700's and was made in the Adam period French in origin. It is a impressive piece of furniture. It is all hand carved solid oak. The cabinets each have one shelf inside bottom is sagging so I placed a piece of hard board in there. It has a incredible dark patina. It measures approx. 94 1/2" tall 47" wide under 24" deep The hutch is attached to the base using dowels So it lifts off the base From what I remember they only stick out a inch You need at least a 8' ceiling. My home was built in the late 1940's so the ceilings are 8'2" a newer home might be a tight fit. Years ago because I was concerned about earthquakes ... moreI attached 2) 2"x4"s to the back to make it sturdier. They are stained to match. So for those of you with a tight fit. I think it could be set up without the dowels across the back because of the 2" x4"s the 2 spindles in the front supporting the hutch also come off. There are dowels sticking out both ends. You could leave one end in and maybe put a screw trough the bottom. One other modification I noticed will up inside the cabinet is that wood was added on both sides under the base's top( I would guess the top may have been sagging under the weight of the Hutch) hence the addition. There are 2 small dowels missing on the rail on the inside( good place) hardly noticeable. One small piece gone off the top. Again hardly noticeable. I didn't catch it when I bought it. Other then that as you can see it is impressive without being over bearing. I don't need to sell so I don't plan on dropping my prices. This price is what I want to part with it. This Dutch antique oak hutch is the perfect size for almost any conceivable use. The depth of only 16" means this piece will fit in any hard to fill area and still leave plenty of room for other furniture. Being made in a classic Dutch style, this hutch features large geometric shapes on the door panels. The doors open with wooden handles. The handles can ... morebe turned to"latch" the doors shut or open. The top plate rack shelves have beading attached so you can stand plates up for display. Both the shaped skirt and moulded cornice come together to make this piece an outstanding example of European furniture. The oak is beautiful, having developed a wonderful patina. This hutch is rather heavy, being solid oak, but does come in two pieces for easier moving. There is normal minor usage wear throughout, including minor old repairs to the right cornice, but in all this hutch is in very solid, sturdy, and good condition. The counter height is 38" and the shelf depth is 8" The base contains various removable shelves. The geometric patterns on the doors are very interesting. Each door opens with a wooden knob. The counter has minor wear. Which really only adds to its antique charm. Here is a close up of the counter. Here is the shaped skirt and feet of this piece. INCREDIBLE hand carved English hutch/buffet/sideboard just waiting for that perfect spot in your home. Made entirely of beautiful dark wood. This piece has been meticulously carved by hand, and no opportunity for adding elegance has been missed. Includes all original hardware and mirror. This sideboard separates into two pieces in case you only want to use the buffet portion on the bottom. The sides of the hutch include intricately carved finials and small"shelves" for displaying your favorite small items(I used antique perfume bottles) and small painted plates. There is a small crack along the left side of the buffet close to where it meets the hutch, which I assume is due to its travel from England. Two carved doors on bottom open to reveal a spacious interior with original shelf, and two drawers open smoothly to store smaller ... moreitems. Right side of cabinet tends to come open if not locked, but a regular basic skeleton key keeps it closed easily. Antique Italian Tuscan Carved Walnut Sideboard Hutch Cabinet Cupboard Paw Feet
This is a very good antique carved walnut Tuscan cabinet. It was purchased in 2003 in Arezzo. Tuscany, from an antiques dealer. It is in very good shape with a nice patina and beautiful wood color. No significant defects(other than the normal wear that one would expect from an old piece of furniture) except a now-fading white water ring on the surface where some thoughtless person(me! put down a plastic bucket of hot water. A little Old English Scratch Cover or perusal of Mr Google or discussion with a knowledgeable antiques dealer will probably result in advice on how to remove this easily. I just never took the time to do so. DESCRIPTION OF SECTIONS: There are three sections that come apart for easy moving. 1) The upper section has three doors with carved helmeted. Bearded men(Romans? on the two outer doors, each facing in towards the middle ... moredoor where a shield/crest is carved. The outer doors are flanked by carved acanthus leaves. The doors are separated by carved columns with carved capitels. All topped by a heavily carved pediment. Inside is one shelf running the width of the piece. Creating two shelves for storing linens, glassware, clothing, whatever. 2) The middle section is composed of two square columns and a simple back piece. Separated into three, framed sections corresponding in width to the doors above. 3) The lower section has three drawers and three doors. As above. The outer doors are flanked by carved acanthus leaves, but these are topped with carved heads. The three doors are decorated with carved swirling leaves and a shield. All of this is on carved paw feet. This breaks down into several parts: The top third The back piece Two columns which. Antique Sideboard Cabinet Hutch Bookcase
A truly unique piece of furniture craftsmanship. It's a simple but elegant design with superb attention to detail. It is a one piece unit standing about 79 inches tall. About 45 inches wide, and it is heavy. Let me state at this point that I am not an expert and my observations and descriptions are intended to help a more knowledgeable person make a decision whether more interest is warranted or not. First of all the overall construction as with most furniture of this vintage is amazing. The fit and finish of the separate components validates the care and skill employed by the craftsman. The side pockets are both lined in a semi-circular fashion with what appears to be solid wood. These are topped off by what appears to be hand carved hemispherical shaped alcoves. The upper middle section is enclosed behind a finely detailed wood grillework ... moredoor with glass insert. Note the medallions incorporated with the grill. There are two shelves with indentations for china display at back. The three bottom components are each enclosed with a one piece door. The general composition appears to be a mahogany wood veneer over solid wood. I'm guessing at the age based on the materials. Style, and manner of assembly. There appear to be tiny screws holding the backing in place as opposed to the more common practice of using brads or nails. I believe it to be late 1800's or early 1900's. As you may have noticed in the photos. There are some area's which need repair. A piece of the veneer has been lost from the bottom, one shelf has gone missing from the lower center component. It also has some damage to one of the support runners for the shelf. One of the scrolls at the top is weak. There are scratches and chips in the veneer. I recommend a personal inspection before bidding. This will be listed for local pickup only. Any reasonable offer will be given consideration. See companion piece in my listings for Hutch Bookcase. Nineteenth(19th) Century French Hutch/Buffett Good Condition 8' tall Nineteenth(19 th) Century French Hutch/Buffett Antique- It is 8’ tall with finials. 6’ 10” wide. The bottom section is 33” deep and the top section is 18“ deep. The 4 winged griffins that hold the top section are 14" high. This is the first antique I ever collected beginning in 1982. It was purchased from the Antique Guild in Los Angeles, CA. One key opens and locks the two doors at the bottom, two drawers in the middle and two glass doors at the top. There is a bit of filler in one spot and a nick or more if one looks closely. See the pictures for a more detailed look. The two most notable spots are highlighted. Also, there is a missing finial. They are removable and one can be cloned by a wood worker if desired. The buffet breaks down into three sections, bottom, ... moremiddle and top. Vintage Antique Maple Sideboard Buffet Cabinet, China Hutch All Original. LQQK
This is a very nice Antique that has been in the family for at least 100 years. This elegant piece measures 48 inches long by 17 1/2 inches deep by 56 1/2 inches high. The lockable doors have beveled glass and between them. The center features a beautiful Tulip made up and decorated with inlaid polished copper and brass. The shelves still have the original felt lining. I do not know the manufacturer but it does have a number. This piece was part of the art revolution of that time. The maple wood has never been refinished and is all original. It is in excellent condition for its age with only a few light scuff marks and a couple of nicks. It was purchased from the old Antique Guild when they specialized in selling antiques. We were told at time of purchase that it was a European antique from the late 1890's. It is a lovely piece of furniture that could be used for multi-purposes(i.e. display cabinet. Dry bar, in a retail store or restaurant or just as a unique piece of furniture in your kitchen, living room, bedroom, etc. It has nice carving and woodwork details. The cabinet size with both pieces is approximately 78" high x 54" wide x 18" deep(approx. 19.5" deep at center) The bottom portion of the cabinet measures approx. 54" long, 18" deep, ... moreand 37" high. Great Antique Pine? Hutch. Small 55" High
Fantastic little Antique Pine? Hutch Cupboard. Im guessing its Pine. But not 100% certain. It has the weight and look of Pine, but I know there are other woods that are very similiar. Measures only 55" high x 30" wide x 15" deep Could stand to be cleaned and polished with Old English. But ill leave that for the buyer to decide. Overall great antique condition. No wood splits or damage or deep scratches anywhere. Im guessing that it is pre 1900. But again, im not 100% certain. Please view the photos closely. They are the best description of the piece.
