ANTIQUE SOLID OAK BUTLERS HUTCH SIDEBOARD CHINA BUFFET CIRCA LATE 1700
18th century solid oak Butlers Hutch This was purchased over 30 years ago at the Antique Buyers guild( The old Helms Bakery L.A) We where told at the time of the purchase that it dates to the late 1700's and was made in the Adam period French in origin. It is a impressive piece of furniture. It is all hand carved solid oak. The cabinets each have one shelf inside bottom is sagging so I placed a piece of hard board in there. It has a incredible dark patina. It measures approx. 94 1/2" tall 47" wide under 24" deep The hutch is attached to the base using dowels So it lifts off the base From what I remember they only stick out a inch You need at least a 8' ceiling. My home was built in the late 1940's so the ceilings are 8'2" a newer home might be a tight fit. Years ago because I was concerned about earthquakes ... moreI attached 2) 2"x4"s to the back to make it sturdier. They are stained to match. So for those of you with a tight fit. I think it could be set up without the dowels across the back because of the 2" x4"s the 2 spindles in the front supporting the hutch also come off. There are dowels sticking out both ends. You could leave one end in and maybe put a screw trough the bottom. One other modification I noticed will up inside the cabinet is that wood was added on both sides under the base's top( I would guess the top may have been sagging under the weight of the Hutch) hence the addition. There are 2 small dowels missing on the rail on the inside( good place) hardly noticeable. One small piece gone off the top. Again hardly noticeable. I didn't catch it when I bought it. Other then that as you can see it is impressive without being over bearing. I don't need to sell so I don't plan on dropping my prices. This price is what I want to part with it. Rare Antique Mahogany Victorian Sideboard What Not Buffet Circa 1870's
This is a rare mahogany Victorian sideboard. It has beautiful flame grained mahogany veneers. The top has shapely openwork galleries dovetailed together and graduated spool turned posts ending in delicate finials.The shelves and base are framed with decorative beaded arrow design moldings. The dovetailed drawer has a desk and inkwell cubbies inside.There is an age crack in the desk top(inside the drawer) The cabinet base has the original shelf. This piece is a very desirable and rare diminutive size. The craftsmanship is outstanding.It has a lovely patina. The keyboard has been removed from this antique circa 1867 melodeon/square grand piano case. Believed to be rosewood and mahogany. It makes a stunning and elegant sideboard. The piece has been refinished but is in very good condition, missing one hinge on the top right which is barely noticeable- mouse over the photo for a close up. Beautiful Circa 1830-1840 Antique American Empire Buffet Server Flame Mahogany
This is a Beautiful Form Antique American Empire Circa 1830- 1840 Dining Room Server in Striking Flame Mahogany Veneer. The piece has wonderful curved top drawers with hardware. There is no key present, I believe the knobs are original. The doors swing out to reveal a large interior. There has been a small repair to the back left top as shown, a triangular repair to the corner. There is a modern door latch as shown. The server measures 44 1/2" tall, 43 1/8" wide and 20 1/4" deep at the top. The feet make the server measure 23 1/3" deep at the bottom. Circa 1780 - 1820 Buffet Side Table Server
THIS IS AN INCREDIBLE PIECE OF EARLY HISTORY. Circa 1800. This a very Early Buffet Side Table/Server, hand made in the late 1700's to early 1800's. It is well over 200 years old and in very good condition. It is still sturdy, it seems to be made from clear pine, I'm taking an educated guess. It has two drawers that open and close perfectly well and show the early dovetail work, the notches flair. The bottom shelf of the server has imbedded circular ceramic pottery marks where the women would stow warm bowls and pots of their meals below while the family ate. I feel this makes this piece so much more desirable. I hate to see this go. But the purpose is to downsize. I'll start the bidding quite low with no reserve. Because of its size and antique nature.
