Exhibits typical wear on the edges but little to no surface scratches. The seating area is quite beautiful. And underside has original supple shock mounts and legs have original glides. Ercol Chairmakers's armchair seat and back cushions - Morris style linen covers
Very nice seat and back cushions for an Ercol Chairmakers Windsor armchair. Made of a good quality Sanderson-type heavy linen with ornamental piping. Zip covers. The foam in these cushions is MODERN- only a couple of years old. Cushions have been in store and not used. Although I cannot find an Ercol label the chair seat has the black backing typical of Ercol covers. And Ercol popper tabs to fix to the chair. Excellent condition- no marks. Damage or signs of wear. It has a Queen Anne back and cabriole legs with shell carving on the knee, all ending in pad feet. It is 38" high at the back by 21' deep(front leg to back leg) by 22" wide(knee to knee) NOTE: all measurements given are the largest, outside measurements. The seat height is approx. 18" from floor to top of seat. The chair is solid but there is some inlay missing. Please see all photos. It has a very old finish, probably original, with good color and patination. The slip seat is very easy to re-upholster. The chair has a high back which is hinged in the back and has a ratchet mechanism on the arms for reclining. It also has a pull out drawer where you can rest your feet and/or store reading materials. It is 51" high at the back by 23" wide by 22" deep. Seat height from floor to seat is about 20" with the seat cushion. In overall good conditiion with wear commiserate with age. It features solid center splats on each side, cabriole legs ending in pointed pad feet, and very old upholstery. Patina is very old and it does not appear that the chair has been refinished. The writer and philosopher Voltaire purchased the Chateau in 1758 on his return from the Prussian Court and having been made aware that Louis XV would not welcome him in Paris. He added rooms and furnished the chateau turning it into a productive farm. Voltaire often described himself as the innkeeper of Europe. There was no inn in the village of Ferney and as many as 40 visitors were regularly invited as guests of Voltaire. Staying the night and taking dinner at the Chateau. The chair has a scrolling mahogany frame. The seat is deep and the back slants slightly backward as was customary at the time. It stands on two turned front feet and two tapered back legs. All four with their original casters. The piece has been newly upholstered in a beautiful blue velvet with rolled arms and a button tufted back. The chair measures 27"w x 33"d x 37"h, with the seat measuring 19"w x 22"d x 16"h. Condition: The chair is very sturdy. It has its original leather. Which while cracked is still quite supple. Beautiful Oak Framed Thick Leather Sling Chair. There is no makers mark on this super comfortable high quality chair but as you can see it is styled after the Borge Mogensen Spanish Chair. The Leather Slings are attached to the chair with wooden dowels inserted through the leather. The chair frame itself is in excellent condition with only one small chip on the wood above the seatback. The leather has been cleaned and conditioned showing some slight wear signs. The overall condition is very good and more importantly this is a very comfortable chair to sit in. One sofa has different legs than the others. The shape, style, fabric, and nail heads are all the same as the other three pieces however the legs are a Queen Ann style instead of a Claw and Ball style like the other three. We are unsure why they do not match since they are identical sofas other than the legs. The tufting is in very good condition and are still very tight. The fabric is in overall good condition with no stains and only a few minimal raw areas on a few corners. The arm rests show very little wear in the velvet however there are a few blemishes here and there on the backs of the furniture. There are no tears in the fabric and the base cushions still have a solid shape and there is no sagging in the support. There are gentle scratches on the wood legs. The pictures were taken outside in natural light. No camera flash was used. The brilliant red you see in some pictures is natural sunlight on the furniture's fabric. The darker red tones are the same couches however in the shade. All 4 pieces are upholstered in the same fabric and are all the same tone when places in the same lighting.
