Up for auction is this delightful small sized teapot It is in good condition overall. The silver plating shines up beautifully still with very minimal signs of wear. The hinged lid needs attention though as it is currently missing two loops for the bar to fit through to hold it in place. As can be seen it can come off easily! It does still work though if caution is taken The teapot has a lovely rounded shape and decorated all over with the most lovely floral engraved pattern. ANTIQUE RIDGWAY VICTORIAN MILK WATER PITCHER CHOCOLATE POT INDUS GAME BIRDS 1877
Up for auction is this lovely Ridgway water/milk pitcher in the INDUS pattern dated on the underside June 1877. This is in wonderful condition. It shows extremely well with very little imperfections on the underside of the pitcher. It has a stain and a a rough edge along the bottom and I do show all in the pictures provided. The scene is flying brown game birds or pheasants with foliage and a church steeple or a mission of some sort in the background. This English Earthenware piece is a remarkable collectible. it is from the Victorian era and has the RSR(Ridgway Sparks Ridgway) mark on the underside as shown. The symbols indicate that this was produced in June 1877. It has a lovely braided handle and the spout doesn't have any dings. This pitcher stands 8 and 1/2 inches with a 4 inch opening at the spout. Pictures do not do these antique iced tea stems justice. They have never been used. And after one washing, it is just unbelievable the life and shine in the crystal. These were with the estate of the lady I bought the Minton Marlow China from, and all were treated as art objects versus functional dinnerware or china. The coffee pot has a luster finish. Scalloped swirls at the base, and a raised grasses design at the base of the spout. The pot is decorated with a farmland scene of two women harvesting grain and three sheep, framed by hand painted gold flowers. The body of the coffee pot is in very good condition with just on tiny black pit in the finish on the back of the pot. The lid, however, has been extensively re-constructed with a 1-1/2 inch wide piece still missing. The pot is back-stamped as shown. ANTIQUE (CHILDREN'S SIZE) 4 PIECE PORCELAIN TEA SET (EUROPEAN?)
ANTIQUE CHILDREN'S SIZE PORCELAIN TEA SET(PARTIAL. WITH 4 PIECES) INCLUDES A COVERED SUGAR AND OPEN CREAMER. PLUS 2 TEA CUPS WITH 2 SAUCERS- HAND PAINTED. ESTIMATED TO DATE TO CIRCA 1885-1900 This is a very pretty partial tea set- with 4 pieces. It is too bad that the tea pot is missing. But with a child's imagination, the"tea" could always be poured from the creamer. There are no maker's marks to indicate age or country of manufacture. However, there is one very interesting clue: the unglazed bottom of the sugar bowl is impressed with an"87" probably dug into the clay with a stylus before firing) where the 7 is the European style 7 with a horizontal slash through the middle of it. You can see this by zooming into photos 3 and 4. None of the other pieces has any mark. So, there is no way, without recognizing ... moreeither the pattern or some other clue about the manufacturer, to associate the country of origin, other than to presume it was made in Greater Europe. There is a dating clue that comes into play if you assume the European style 7 can only mean the pieces were made in Europe. Starting in 1890. The McKinley Tariff Act required that a country of origin always be marked on goods being imported into the U. S. Since these pieces are unmarked, it is possible they predate 1890. I'm inclined to believe that- based on the general style of the sugar bowl and creamer, and especially the style of the handles on the creamer and the cups. However, there is an alternative possibility that the person who marked this pottery's model number might have been a recent emigre from Europe who was working in a U. S. firm. The material is definitely porcelain and if you hold one of the pieces up to the light you can see the shadows of your fingers moving behind it. However. This is not particularly well-molded porcelain: there is a big lump inside one of the tea cups and a saucer has a molding irregularity. Antique English Creamware Pottery Tea Pot, Wedgwood, c1770
An Antique English Wedgwood Ceramic Creamware Pottery Tea Pot with a strap handle moulded with overlapping leaves or scales ending in a neat foliate terminal. Also having an acorn finial and a"cabbage" or"overlapping leaf" spout. The puce enamel decoration is in the manner of James Bakewell, an enameller who worked for Wedgwood for many years. We date this tea pot to c1770. While unmarked. We attribute this tea pot to Wedgwood because of the spout, knop and handle. The handle and spout are both pictured in Robin Reilly's book, Wedgwood, The New Illustrated Dictionary" on pages 217 and 400. They are both the most easily identified of all Wedgwood handles and spouts. The knop, is also one of the usual types used by Wedgwood and is pictured on page 207, Plate V111, figure 3, of Donald Towner's book, Creamware. ... moreCONDITION: Restoration to spout and lid. Antique Royal Doulton Art Deco TEAPOT Old Leeds Spray D4051 RN597783 England Auction is for a wonderful old Royal Doulton Teapot. Old Leeds Spray Pattern number D4051, Registration Number 597783. This pattern was produced from 1916 to 1939, then discontinued. Ranging in age from 74 to 100 years old, it has become hard to find. The D4051 patten is multisided with bright floral spray and brown band. This teapot has black back stamp with Royal Doulton Lion logo and Made In England. Size: About 5-1/2" height with lid; 9" spout to handle. Condition: Very good for age with lots of crazing. Floral pattern and accents are bright and complete. It has a small spot on bottom that looks like a burn spot. This is not seen except when turned upside down. In my opinion the crazing complements the appearance and value. This is a beautiful and rare chocolate pot marked LIMOGES BERNARDAUD& Co. FRANCE, mark that dates the piece to ca. 1900-1914. But it was decorated in 1922. Signed with the initials of the artist and dated. The decoration consists in a wonderful white mother of pearl iridiscent color and heavy gilding on the handle and spout. The style is Art Deco. Antique English Creamware Whieldon style tortoise glaze pottery Tea Pot. Enameled in brown manganese. The entwined rope handles end in floral terminals. The rim is beeded as is the foot. The spout is ribbed and molded. The lid has a beeded rim and a floral finial ending in molded leaves. c1770-1780 The spout, handle, terminals and floral finial are all attributed to the Leeds Pottery, see Donald Towner's book, Creamware, pages 191-211. Early Leeds creamware, that made before 1775, was a deep cream color with a yellowish glaze. When you take a look at the pictures above, you'll see that accurately describes the color of this tea pot. CONDITION: There are minor chips on the inner rim(note picture#7) and a rim chip on the foot(note pictures 8 and 9) This pot has not had any restoration. A little background on Creamware and the Leeds ... morePottery: Cream-colored earthenware first appeared in Staffordshire sometime between 1730-1740. Production later spread to Derbyshire and Yorkshire and then to Europe. In the 1760s Josiah Wedgwood proved his genius for developing a superior material from a standard formula. After much experimentation with the addition of cornish Clay and china Stone, he literally"invented" a new ceramic body. At first the Wedgwood version was known as Queens Ware but as other competitors joined the hunt the material became known generically as Creamware. Of all the potteries which existed in South Yorkshire in the 18th Century. By far the most important one was the Leeds Pottery. While there is some debate regarding the founding of the factory-some say 1760, others 1770-it is with some certainty that one can say that its first pieces were being produced by the end of 1770. While creamware was what the Leeds Pottery was known for, they also followed the pattern set by Thomas Whieldon, of making a great variety of different types of ware. Little Chinese export porcelain teapot from the late 18th century. This piece was made between 1760-1785. This piece is hand enameled with various brilliantly colored flowers. There is also a gilded and red painted band of design around the rim of the teapot and cover. Inside of the teapot is an old tag from the 1920s with a description and price for the teapot. The bottom of the tag reads: Formely in the Aberfoyle Collection: Sevenoaks. Kent. This tag incorrectly identifies the pot as being Lowestoft. This is a common mistake as Lowestoft copied Chinese Export pieces, oftentimes so precisely that many are fooled. This piece is the harder porcelain Chinese export, it was made in China ... morecertainly between 1760 and 1785. The overall condition of this piece is excellent considering its age. There is a slight hairline crack on the handle that does not go through completely as well as a small. Very old chip to the finial. The line in the handle was probably original to the manufacture. Otherwise, there are no splits, no breaks, no other cracks, no other chips, no repairs and no other problems of any kind. The set includes 2 serving plates size 10 1/2" x 9" One has a hairline crack on the top. 1 creamer pitcher, 1 sugar bowl, 12 saucers, 2 have hairline cracks, 10 cups, 12 dessert plates. There is only minimal crazing. The colors are an off white with navy blue and gold trim. Antique Wedgwood Light Blue Jasperware Teapot with matching Sugar Box Made in England c. 1891 Here we have a Two pieces of a beautiful Jasper Dip Tea Set which was given as a gift in 1891. There is a nice written note on the underside of the Teapot with some history. The color is a slight bit paler than the blue Jasperware dip of today. The Lids on both the Tea Pot and the Sugar Bowl are lavishly decorated with relief foliage. White Greek Mythological figures on light blue Jasper ware depict the Sacrifice to Ceres on the Sugar Box. We are unsure of the names of the figures on the Teapot. However Cupid appears on one side. These pieces are in excellent condition with no chips. Cracks or repairs. There is some staining on the inside of both. Which possibly could be removed with a professional/correct application of peroxide. The Tea Pot is ... more4 1/2" tall to pretty finial knob. 7 3/4" from spout to handle. It holds 3+ cups. Glazed interior for tea making. Sugar Bowl Height to finial on lid is 4" and the diameter from handle to handle is 4" Glazed interior. Stored in a china cabinet their whole life. The creamer was lost along the way. Shows no wear or damage. Both pieces have the incised Wedgwood stamp as well as other incised marks. Some of which are the craftsman's marks. Both have the England incised stamp. Beautiful New Hall teapot with the"Boy Chasing Butterfly" pattern. The pattern is don w/ a base transfer that is the hand painted& detailed w/bright colorful enamels. 7" tall; 9 1/4" wide handle to spout. The teapot is part of a collection that came from the estate of a avid teapot& tea cup collector. The piece is unmarked. But the teapot form& decoration are known to be from New Hall Ca. 1810. There is a simialr example at the V&A Museum. The piece is in good condition for age- there are three chips on the underside of the lid rim(see last photo) There is glaze wear to the finial point(the very tip may be gone, but it is smooth now& I do not know the exact point he teapot had in new condition) There is glaze wear to spout rim& handle which has caused some black flecking. Minor glaze wear to other ... morerims. No other chips or cracks. The teapot's hand painting& design are in good condition. The listed flaws do not effect the beauty& display of this old teapot- Thank you for looking! Lovely Antique White Porcelain Teapot Becher Stark Schwalb Bros BSM Czech c1882
This auction is for a Lovely Antique Porcelain Teapot and lid made in Czechoslovakia by Becher& Stark- Schwalb Brothers circa 1882. The teapot and lid are in good condition. Especially for its age. There are no chips or cracks or repairs. There is extensive loss of the gold accent designs. The pot has a neatly shaped handle and a nice raised or molded dot pattern in its white porcelain. The teapot measures 9 inches tall including the lid and 9 inches wide from spout to handle. It has the green BSM backstamp used by the company from 1882-1891. I only ship within the contiguous US and only accept PayPal. Please check my other auctions. I am selling other antique porcelain pieces and will combine shipping whenever possible.
