Absolutely gorgeous Brown Betty red clay vintage/antique tea pot with raised enamel moriage flowers in orange. Yellow and blue. This is definately hand paint a small amount of gold. Unfortunately the lid was lost through the years. I used it for floral arrangements. It looked lovely displayed on a table. Received from a 90+ year old family member that had it displayed for years. I am not sure of the exact age. Bottom displays JAPAN. Research states it might have been made in the 1960's. Measurements: 4.5" Tall x 8" Diameter from handle to spout Overall the tea pot is in wonderful condition for its age. Would make a lovely vase filled with flowers. I hate parting with it. Vintage(Circa 1960's) Brown Betty English Teapot. Moriage painting, Gold Detailing throughout, Handpainted. Red-clay/Ceramic with brown glaze and lovely decorative art with lovely gold trim(see SUPERSIZE photos using moveable zoom for close-up inspection) Bottom of pot is marked. Appears to be in very good condition. The pot is free of cracks and crazing, but has some small chips on the rim. Spout has a small chip at end which exposes a tiny amount of unglazed red clay of which you'll see in close-up photos. Has some naturally aged surface wear. the gold detailing has some light wear from use and age. Up for a NO RESERVE auction is possibly an original"Brown Betty" teapot. It is stamped on the bottom"MADE IN ENGLAND" There is also some other writing/ marks that I can not decipher for the life of me. I have tried to show in pics. I have tried to find pics of actual antique Brown Betty teapots but I have had no luck, I have looked at tons of other brown England made teapots but have yet to find a match with similar markings. It measures 5 1/2" tall. 8 1/4" handle to tip of spout, body of teapot is approx. 5" round. There are a couple chips on the spout and on the underside of the lid. Otherwise in very nice condition.
