Red Transferware Ironstone Coffee Pot Hinrich & Co. Circa late 1800's
This item is a red transferware coffee pot. The mark on the bottom is of Hinrichs& Co. of New York. This company was an importer. Not a manufacturer. They were in business from 1844 to 1897 when they went bankrupt, so that is the closest in range I can come to dating this piece. The material I believe is a glazed ironstone. The piece measures 7 7/8" tall(not including the top) I believe the condition is very good considering the age of the piece. There is some wear to the gold. Around the top edge, the lid and the handle the gold is almost gone. The gold band around the top of the pattern and the spout has some minor wear. The red transfer ware pattern is in tact and shows very little wear. The inside of the pot is clean and not stained. It pours just fine and has a 7 cup capacity. There are no chips to the piece at all and only ... moreminor surface wear to the underside ring. If you look at the photo of the top looking inside the pot with the lid off, you'll see two small splits/cracks on opposite corners. Antique Wedgwood Ceylon Tea Pot circa 1907- Simple Yet Perfect!
The concept of the SYP. Or Simple Yet Perfect, teapot was the brainchild of Sir Douglas Baillie Hamilton Cochrane, the 12th Earl of Dundonald. His first design for the SYP teapot was patented in 1901, and the second and"improved" teapot came four months later- this was the version which was manufactured by Wedgwood's Etruria factory between 1905 and 1919 as well as several other potters. The pot was made so that it could stand on its flat base, or on its back the'second base' the domed top covered half of the teapot- the other half was covered by a lid which was so constructed that it could not fall off when the pot was tilted forward. Inside, near the upper part of the teapot a pierced tray was fixed across the pot, thus forming a compartment to hold the loose tea leaves. This particular pot was made for T.P. Welsh ... moreCompany. A coffee merchant and importer in New York Citys' Coffee Roasting District off of the South Side Sea Port before containerization moved the business elsewhere. There are some condition issues, which would make this a great piece for restoration. There are some hairline cracks. And the spout has suffered the chipping so common to a piece of this age. There is the Wedgwood mark on the bottom the SYP mark(Simple Yet Perfect) and date marks that date it to 1907, It is 8" tall. Shipping is done by USPS unless otherwise requested. And insurance isincluded, as these items are one of a kind. Paypal is preferred. International shipping is available. circa 1905 Tresseman & Vogt T&V -- true green holly pattern -- chocolate pot
This little gem is just back home from the Antiques Roadshow! Richmond. Virginia(August 17, 2013) was the final city on Season 18's"hunt for America's hidden treasures! This Tressemann and Vogt chocolate pot is approximately 9 5/8" tall(to the top of the lid finial) 6 7/8" wide from the outside of the handle arc to the tip of the spout, and 5 7/16" deep(width of the base bulge front to back) It weighs approximately 34.6 ounces(or 2 pounds and 2.6 ounces) and is in near mint condition. It appears to have been either a serving piece that was never used or purchased as a display piece. There are only 2 flaws after a century: there is a pinhead-sized flake on the chocolate pot lid interior and a shallow chip on the chocolate pot base. The shallow chip is difficult to capture in pictures since the bottom is scalloped. ... moreThe narrow, yellow arrow pointing to a white"matte" spot is the location of the shallow chip. From the exterior: in looking at the close-up of the base, the bottom's smooth curved line has a hint of unevenness in the chipped spot's location. There is also 1. Manufacturing flaw: see the wider, yellow arrow pointing to the narrower area of the base. There is a chip on the exterior that occurred sometime during the manufacturing process. Its appearance was carefully masked when the gold design was added. The spot is both under the green paint/glaze and the gold accent addition. There is a slight variation in the shade of gold on the handles(pot and lid) and the gold on the top and the bottom of the chocolate pot. In addition. In 3 tiny areas, there appears to be 2, different shades of gold. My concern and question was: forgery(craft store gold paint) Restoration? Variations found in hand-made pottery? Two. Professional Antiques Roadshow Pottery and Porcelain Appraisers from the Rago Arts& Auction Center weighed in: They verified the base indentation/chip was a manufacturing flaw. As for the gold: these particular pieces(chocolate pots) just had their handles

Wheeling Pottery LaBelle China Chocolate Pot Holly Thistle Design circa 1900
A beautiful antique chocolate pot marked LaBelle China made between 1893 and 1904. Decorated with an outstanding and rare design of HOLLY with BERRIES intertwined with Purple THISTLES. The beautiful scroll work is identical to that used by LaBelle on their flow blue pieces. Definitely some hand painting on the red berries. They also used a gold spray in some areas to accentuate the item. This mark was used by the Wheeling Pottery Co. of Wheeling W. V. which also produced Adamantine China. Along with the LaBelle China mark. There is the# 4 printed on the bottom(most likely refers to the holly/thistle design) and I see an incised set of#s(655 or 633 or something like that) The 4 contact points of the base when sitting on a flat surface show wear and appear brown like they sat on a finished shelve for may years. I find no signs of use on this ... morepiece even though it is over 110 years old. Stands a little over 10” tall with top in place. NO chips. Cracks, or stains. There is some very light overall crazing both inside and outside due to its age. I am not sure this was ever used! I have included lots of photos to see. We also have a great looking 10” dinner or cake plate listed with identical design and marking. I am not an expert but will describe items to the best of my ability and will always sell the item I have pictured. All items are sold AS IS and if you have concerns. English Gibson Staffordshire Coffee Pot circa 1940s/1950s Eden Pattern With Gold
Lovely porcelain lidded coffee pot from earlier part of 1900s. Done in an unusual light mint green it is decorated with 22 karat gold. This pot was made by Gibson& Sons Ltd. In Staffordshire, England, and was called their"Eden" series. The mark on the bottom is the glowing crown Burslem England mark, which was used up to 1912. Coffee pots were not as commonly made as tea pots, so they tend to be harder to find. In fair vintage condition. There is quite a bit of wear of gold accent on handle, as this pot was used quite often. There is also a small hairline crack along bottom and tiny bit on one side. Lovely old piece, great to add to collection. Measures 7 1/2" tall with lid on.
