Pair of 8” antique Gaudy Welsh plates. Salad plate/dessert plate. Perfect cabinet place size. Very rare and hard to find pattern. Imari style. Circa 1840-1860. ... moreIronstone lusterware. Poppy flower pattern. The edging is a copper metallic color which has worn with use. Plate 1 on left is in best condition. Plate 2 on right has imperfections. See photos. Repaired hairline crack back of plate. You can see on plate 2 five varying size flea bites and chips to plates edge. Looks to be touched up by blue sharpie. Blue does come off yet I did not wash it off. Does not detract from the beauty of the piece given its age. Please view pics so you can view imperfections. Plate 1 is 8” and plate 2 just slightly more than 8”. Hand painted pieces.

This sweet little pitcher predates a lot of the later"Gaudy Welsh" pieces. I've seen only one other one with panels of solid color. The ... moretwo bright green panels and the one cobalt blue panel are all under the glaze. The flower and leaves on the three alternate panels are all hand-painted over the glaze. The pitcher has six lobed ribs or panels. It measures 4" 10.2 cm) in height and 2 3/4" 7 cm) in diameter at the widest point. Most of these were done in earthenware or a heavy Ironstone. This one is a thin porcelain and you can see light shining through it when held up to a lamp. There is a little purple luster trim which was on the green panels. But is worn. There is a luster stripe on the knobbed bracket handle. It also has the early prominent spout. There is a quarter inch thin, faint,U" shaped line on the inside rim of the pitcher, that does not go through to the outside. This line can be seen in the two pictures of the top in this listing. This pitcher is not marked, but the early ones rarely were. There is a $1.00 charge for a new box within a larger new box and ample packing material to ensure safe delivery. BEAUTIFUL GAUDY IRONSTONE * WELSH * WELCH * STAFFORDSHIRE TEAPOT MINT!
For sale is a wonderful. GAUDY IRONSTONE Staffordshire teapot, excellent condition, in the very popular"SEEING EYE" pattern. Made in the 1850s in Staffordhsire, England, and shipped to the United States, this pattern was quite popular in Pennsvlvania and is now very collectible. The teapot and lid. Together stand approximately 10 inches tall. The base is about 6 and a half inches, the lid about 3 and 3/4 inches. It will be difficult to find another example in better condition. The gold lustre is excellent, showing no wear on either the"eye" or the flower. The hand-painted colors show no paint loss or chipping that is typical of gaudy ironstone china. There is light wear on the pink lustre trim(mostly the base and the handle) Neither the base nor the spout have any chips, cracks or professional repairs. There is one pinpoint ... morenick or flea bite on the inside rim of the lid. This could be"in the making" or from glazing, but it is LESS than one-fourth inch across. This piece has been given much care and shows very little amount of use. If any at all. An outstanding example and piece to add to any gaudy ironstone. Welsh, Staffordshire collection. Antique Porcelain Gaudy Welsh Pepper Grinder
Pretty little Pepper Grinder approx. 4" tall and 2" at the base. The top is missing the tiny finial that opens the door to add peppercorns. No markings. There are traces of gold luster outlines on the design. The top is loose from the base but the porcelain middle is still attached to the bottom. There is lettering on the underside but I cannot make it out. Mechanism still turns, slight rust on the underneath. In my research I have found where this could date to the mid to mid-late 1800's. But all in all a very pretty little piece. Sold as is so please email with questions. I have tried to describe it as well as possible but please feel free to ask anything. Thank you for looking and bidding!
GAUDY WELSH, IMARI, ENGLISH, IRONSTONE TEA SET, MID 19TH CENTURY, STAFFORDSHIRE
For your consideration is a very old English Ironstone tea set from the Staffordshire region dating to the 1850’s or possibly earlier. The decoration is referred to as Gaudy Welsh Imari. A mix of design elements from Wales and Japan with French in the top knops and mold shapes. This set is a seven piece set comprised of a teapot with lid. A sugar with lid, a creamer and two cups and saucers. The teapot measures 4-1/2” in diameter. Stands 4-1/2” tall, is 2-3/4” in diameter at the base and is 7” from tip of spout to end of handle. The sugar bowl measures 3-1/4” in diameter. Stands 3-3/8” tall, is 2-1/4” in diameter at the base and is 4” from end of handle to end of handle. The creamer measures 2-1/4” in diameter. Stands 2-1/2” tall, is 1-5/8” in diameter at the base and is 3-1/4” from tip of spout to end of handle. The saucers measure 4-1/2” ... morein diameter. The tea cups measure 2-3/4” in diameter. Stand 1-1/2” tall, are 1-3/8” in diameter at the base and are 3-3/8” from the end of the teacup to the end of the handle. There is a scroll design back stamp on the bottom of all pieces except for the cups whose bases were too small to accommodate the back stamp. This scroll mark should not be confused with the scroll mark found on some post 1861 Minton pieces with the added words of Amherst Japan. The mark on this set has yet to be manufacturer identified. Inside the scrolls are the hand lettered numbers“664” painted in red which were quality control codes referring to the person who decorated the piece. Additionally some of the pieces have impressed mold numbers. The condition of this set is remarkably brilliant. Considering its age. Pre-1860 or earlier, I would have expected to find numerous chips, cracks, repairs etc. I have examined each piece very closely and do not find any such problems with the exception of a few manufacturing flaws and a very faint ½” long crack to one of the saucers. This crack appears to be from manufacturer’s firing as there is no chip to the rim or other evidence to suggest it was made fro
