Red Transferware Ironstone Coffee Pot Hinrich & Co. Circa late 1800's
This item is a red transferware coffee pot. The mark on the bottom is of Hinrichs& Co. of New York. This company was an importer. Not a manufacturer. They were in business from 1844 to 1897 when they went bankrupt, so that is the closest in range I can come to dating this piece. The material I believe is a glazed ironstone. The piece measures 7 7/8" tall(not including the top) I believe the condition is very good considering the age of the piece. There is some wear to the gold. Around the top edge, the lid and the handle the gold is almost gone. The gold band around the top of the pattern and the spout has some minor wear. The red transfer ware pattern is in tact and shows very little wear. The inside of the pot is clean and not stained. It pours just fine and has a 7 cup capacity. There are no chips to the piece at all and only ... moreminor surface wear to the underside ring. If you look at the photo of the top looking inside the pot with the lid off, you'll see two small splits/cracks on opposite corners. I don't know if it actually dates to 1856 or if that is the first time this mold was used or what. The pot is 8" tall, 11" with the lid on, with the lid off it makes a great vase. There is some crazing on the base but otherwise the pot is in very good condition, the lid is cracked and has been glued. I have a matching large sugar bowl listed in a separate auction. Being a man of ability and energy he soon built up a flourishing business, which, in 1850, had so far increased that it was transferred to larger premises in Navigation Road, Burslem. The lid has a rosebud finial outlined in blue for the handle- also 3 blue lines around the edge. The top opening is scalloped and edged in blue- there is a very tiny chip in the glaze. The spout and handle have embossed grape leaves edged in blue. About 1/3 of the way down. The body of the coffee pot has 4 blue lines. There are a couple of spots in the finish and some yellowing(not from crazing) on the edge of the lid and base of the pot. S B& Son is engraved on the bottom. S B& Son was started in Longton. England in 1853 and later opened Anchor Pottery. The inside of the spout has strainer holes. There is minimal crazing, no chips, breaks or repairs. The handle was broken and reglued and there is a broken spot on the lip of the rim and a chip as pictured. Those were the days when broken items were fixed and not thrown out! You are bidding o n an antique ironstone coffee pot with embossed wheat pattern made in England by W& E Corn. It measures 7 1/2 inches tall and it is in very good condition with no major damage. Bright white and no staining inside or out. There is some slight pitting around the spout and scalloped rim as pictured and also a very minor shallow nick on the inner rim measuring less than 1/8 of an inch. Excellent piece for replacement or upgrade. I do have the lid but the finial handle was broken off and is not present so it will only be included if the buyer wishes. Antique ironstone china tea or coffee pot. There is no maker's mark on this piece or indication of the country of manufacture. For that reason. We believe it to be American made. It is in excellent shape having no cracks or discoloration. There is one sliver chip on the inside rim of the lid. The surface of the china is not marred and has a beautiful sheen. The pot is highlighted with gilt on the handle, which shows signs of wear, on the spout and around the rim and lid. The finial is in fine shape and had not been repaired. For sale is a beautiful antique ironstone coffee set including a sugar bowl and pitcher. Plus both the coffee pot and sugar bowl have matching lids in excellent condition. There are no chips, cracks, staining or crazing. It has a makers mark that says B D over another B. I cannot identify the maker. Please see photos. The leaf pattern is gold outlines with red veining and all three pieces have gold bands with some wear on the gold trim. Purchased at an estate sale about 8 years ago- used for decorative purposes. This coffee pot measures roughly 10" tall x 10 3/4" across from the handle to spout and weigh 3 1/4 pounds. The condition is very good. Other than a few minor chips on the inside edge of the rim that the cover rests on(see 9th image) and a pinpoint on the inside flang of the cover. There are remarkably no other chips, cracks, flakes, hairlines or restoration. In addition, there is no discoloration or staining. Note the small printed transfer on the base of the spout. Furnivals White Ironstone China Tea Pot Teapot Coffee Offered is a very nice Antique White Ironstone Teapot. It is hallmarked on the bottom with the stamp for Furnivals Ironstone China. It dates to 1900- 1915. This is a beautiful embossed pattern Ironstone teapot. Lovely ribbed shape with embossed accents around the handle. Spout and on the top/lid. The lid has a figural piece on top that looks like a berry. It measures 10 inches high including the lid. It is 9 inches side to side measuring across the spout and the handle. It is in good condition with no chips or cracks. There is a tiny rub mark or extremely teeny chip on the edge of the berry and on the edge of the lid. Really very. Very small; please refer to photo# ... more14. There is also a very slight rub mark on the end of the spout; please refer to photo# 13. This is more like a slight rough spot and extremely minor but I am very careful in my descriptions and I wanted to be sure to point it out. No cracks and no chips(except already mentioned) The white is nice and bright with no discoloration.
