Antique Doulton Burslem Coffee/Tea Pot
This auction is for a very rare. Antique porcelain coffee/tea pot by Royal Doulton Burslem, England. It is hand painted on creamy white background with raised gold accent on flowers. There are two major flaws- a decoration at the very top of the lid is missing and there is a crack on the handle at its top connection to the pot. The crack is very hard to find and I am not sure if it will be visible on the pictures, but unfortunately it is there. Other than that the pot is in very good age appropriate condition with some slight crazing and a very tiny hairline by the rim of the lid. It is being sold as found and may use some cleaning. The pot stands approximately 10.75" tall and is about 6.5" wide between the end of the spout and its handle. It is clearly marked at the bottom and initialed by the artist. Rare& Unique Royal Doulton Burslem 3-Piece Teapot Set The distinctive mark is pictured and dates this set to 1902-1922. Each piece has the stamp. Warm brown on top. Golden mustard in the middle and dark ivory on the bottom and the scenes. These colors are rich. The scenes are hunting dogs in the country side. A man on a horse and a man standing while blowing a horn. There are acorns and oak leaves on the teapot and sugar tops. They are so well done and in mint condition. The teapot top has a mark on it. But it is not a chip-must have happened while making it. Teapot: 5" high and 8" wide. Sugar: 3" high by 5" wide Creamer: 2 3/4" high by 4" wide. All sizes rounded by 1/4" I have searched and have been unable to find this unique antique set anywhere! The teapot measures approx. 8.5 inches from spout to handle edges. 5 inches tall. There is some crazing marks across the bottom(not sure if you call it crazing so please see photos) Otherwise the teapot is in nice condition with some of the gold trim wearing on the lid as you can see in the photos also. The teapot. I believe from the hallmarks is from 1894-1895. It has a very elaborate scalloped decoration that enhances its beauty. Gorgeous detail. The teapot measures 8 inches from the end of the spout to the end of the handle. It measures 5 1/2 inches to the top of the finial. Matching creamer measures 4 inches to the top of the spout. It is in very good antique condition with no chips or scratches. Thank you for looking.
