Antique J.P.L. JEAN POUYAT LIMOGES Teapot w Hand Painted 17th c. Lover's Scene Up for sale is a gorgeous. Antique J.P.L. Jean Pouyat Limoges France unique shaped blue porcelain teapot with a terrific hand painted scene of approx. 17th c. era lovers with the young man courting his girl by playing his guitar. The scenes with edge with a raised gold gilt design and there are more gold gilt accents throughout the piece. The handle is a"T" shaped and accent with a painted gold design. There is some light gold paint loss to the handle and rim of the teapot. There are no chips, cracks or breaks. There is no lid. The piece is 5.75" tall to the top of the handle and it's widest diameter. Jean Pouyat created pieces with this mark from 1891 to 1932 to the teapot dates to that era. Please note that my shipping time is up to 5 business ... moredays as I have multiple jobs and can only ship one day a week. If you happen to purchase after I return from the post office on shipping day it will be a full week wait until I am able to ship again. The porcelain has thin walls, gentle& sensual lobed forms, hand painted with lovely floral motif, hand decorated with raised gilt criss-cross décor& scrolling foliate design, roses ornamented with raised white enamel finish. Amazing& mild light blue color with yellow, burgundy, blue, light red colors. Each lid decorated with figural blue and gilt finials, with scrolling gilt handles, with gilt beaded finish to each supporting circular foot. Overall very good condition. Description: We are pleased to offer this a fabulous Antique Jean Pouyat Limoges France Tankard Set w/4 Mugs. The Set is hand painted of Red Currant motif pieces. With wonderful detail and color! Crazing, cracks or signs of repairs of any kind, see pictures) History: Francois Pouyat(1754-1838) owned several clay deposits and clay works in Haute-Vienne. The region of which Limoges is the capital. He became a partner in Manufacture de la Courtille, at the Locre factory in Paris, in 1800. After he succeeded Laurentius Russinger in 1808, Pouyat's sons, Jean-Baptiste(1776-1849) and Leonard(d 1845) along with Jean Pouyat-Duvignaud(d 1849) joined him. In 1816. The two Pouyat brothers formed a partnership ... morewith the owner of a factory in Fours to produce porcelain for decoration in Paris. They bought the factory in 1820. It was directed by Leonard Pouyat until his death 1845 and continued in production until 1865. The Locre works(in Paris) was sold 1823. But Jean-Baptiste Pouyat remained in Paris as head of sales. Francois Pouyat also opened a small factory in Limoges in 1832. And in 1835 he bought a clayworks and porcelain workshop established in Saint-Leonard, near Limoges, in the 1820s. Jean-Baptiste enlarged the Limoges factory about 1844, when it employed 127 workers. This factory made porcelain of exceptional whiteness and even texture; the porcelain was either left white or enameled and gilded. P. Comolera, a modeller, provided designs for over 20 years. Jean Baptiste Pouyat was succeeded by his sons Emile(1806-92) Louis(b 1809) and Leonard-Eugene(1817-76) Emil trained at Locre factory(Paris) and was head of the Limoges factory from 1849 to 1883. W.
