Nippon Tall Chocolate Coffee Pot Cobalt Blue Gold Moriage
Up for bid is this striking coffee/chocolate pot. Not sure of which because of its tall stature.measures in at 10 1/2 inches to the top of the finial by 7 inches wide from the tip of the spout to the outside part of the handle. When you put the two colors of the dark cobalt blue and the white.definitely is bold. On the white is raised gold moriage design with some hand painted swirls as well. Seperating this area from the cobalt is a row of raised gold beads that attach to a curly Q design. The cobalt has some gold hand painted design upon it. The tip of the spout has a single gold band with a row of raised gold beads. The small lids design is the same as the base. This piece is unmarked.the only remnants of any identification is a partial paper tag. Upon inspection. I cannot find any chips, cracks or repairs. Up for auction is this beautiful cobalt blue with gold trim teapot. The pattern around the pot and on the top is done in gold designs picturing grapes and leaves. Some of the gold trim looks worn from age( again judge by pictures) but is usual for the age. The teapot is approx 8 inches across from handle to spout and about 5 1/2 inches high. The inside. Looks well- and the bottom does not look like it was ever heated but I do not know for certain so please judge by pictures. The inside and rim of bottom are white with no burn type marks as you can see. The teapot was made by Cambridge Art Pottery- Ohio. The lid is removable and has a mechanism for opening the spout cover. Depress the white enameled plunger and the lid pops right up! A second white enameled finial tops the lid.
