ANTIQUE ENGLISH POTTERY TEAPOT CANARY LUSTRE CA. 1830'S SUNDERLAND TRANSFERWARE
Albion Antiek Antique English Teapot Ca. 1820-30's- Canary Lustre Pottery This listing is for a wonderful antique English pottery teapot. It is not marked but was almost certainly made in the North East of England(Sunderland/Newcastle area) and dates to ca 1820-30's. The pattern is transfer printed in black over a solid yellow background(canary yellow lustre. Most close to the last picture below) This teapot is a wonderful classical Georgian shape and measures 5-3/4" high(to top of finial) and 8-1/4" long(handle to spout) There are some flakes on the black trim and a small chip on the end of the spout. Also some small nicks along the inside opening(see pictures) Along the base of the"collar" flare around the opening of the teapot there is a fine hairline(appears like a darkened crazing line(see close-up picture) ... morealso on the outside, this is not very detracting. Someone in the past used a blue pen to camouflage some of the missing black trims. There are no cracks or hairlines, no other chips and no repairs or restoration. There is a bit of wear and age crazing of the glaze and a glaze flaw on the handle(manufacturing flaw) This lid is not a very good fit. Although it is the original and correct lid, but it is slightly too large. Please see my other listings a for a matching sucrier and creamer in this pattern. Please excuse any glares(white patches) that you may see in the pictures. These are caused by reflections of light on the glaze and are not on the actual object itself. Please note that I am located in the Netherlands(Amsterdam. Holland) which means that this item will be shipped from Europe. I ship worldwide and make sure all purchases are shipped within 24 hours of payment, with the exception of weekends(payments received on Fridays or weekends will ship on the following Monday) Items shipped to the USA and other countries outside Europe normally take 1-2 weeks to arrive, occasionally it can take a bit longer. Regency English Teapot & Sucre w/ Underplates, Hand-Colored Transferware, B Mark
I'm pleased to offer a very teapot and sucre(large covered sugar bowl) with underplates. Beautiful baroque or roccoco forms decorated with green transfer ground and flowers and foliage created by hand-painting brown transfer vines and outlines. Only the teapot bears a maker mark. An impressed"B, but all pieces have inventory/pattern and/or decorator marks. some are pictured below. An incised B was used during Worchester's brief Flight& Barr period(1790s-1807) but Barr services were notoriously lacking in pattern numbers. The composition has the thickness of earthenware, but it rings like porcelain when tapped, and it transmits light, even through the thickest sections. I found a discussion board that listed the following makers who used an impressed B: J&E Baddeley.Shelton,c. 1784-1806, Thomas Barlow.Longton,c. 1849-82 ... moreand T.W. Barlow& sons ltd.Longton,c.1882-1940. I have found very little information on these makers. Please see the Q&A below for information provided by another ebay member. This set was purchased at a local estate auction. And the family described it as being imported by one George Redpath, who settled in Marengo, IL, during the 1840s. A web search locates a Marengo grave for George W Redpath(1859-1937) providing some support for the story. Further searching identifies persons with the same name in Scotland in the 1700s and 1800s, and a tendancy to give the father's name to the first-born son. A search of my modest reference library failed to identify a maker. One of my oldest books(1892) illustrates a similar form and describes it as"cottage ware" produced during the early 1800s. A review of Worcester references at the AIC Ryerson& Burnham Library failed to confirm this as a Worcester product. Nevertheless. I find the style, form, and decoration consistent with early English transferware, that is, early 1800s. In fact. The pattern closely resembles that of a porringer shown at the bottom of plate 52 in Victorian Pottery and Porcelain. GB Hughes, 195

Black Transferware Childs Teapot Tea set BIRD of PARADISE Staffordshire c1850
800x600 Glorious Black Transferware Childs Teapot Tea set BIRDS of PARADISE Staffordshire. England c. 1860 This transferware child's or dolls teapot was originally part of an early child's miniature tea set. The covered pitcher stands 4 3/4” tall and 5” long from tip of spout to edge of handle. Applied leaf terminals join the handle to the body. Transfer printed in a rich and earthy black on a sturdy earthenware or ironstone body and decorated with naturalistic engraved illustrations of cuckoo birds. Hummingbirds or bird of paradise on a palm tree branch. The stunning pattern is a fine example of the Victorian love of nature and the exotic. The pattern name and exact maker is unknown. But the antique teapot was most certainly made in the Staffordshire region of England c1860. It is unmarked. We have been unable to find any reference ... moreto the pattern in authoritative books on the children's ceramics. A fantastic and rare example! The teapot is in very good condition. The finial on the lid has been replaced. Glaze wear along the rims and edges. But no chips, cracks or repairs. Minor overall glaze crazing consistent with age. The workmanship is haphazard. Which is one of the reasons many people collect it.not fine china, and not meant to be; it was made for children and probably considered disposable. The images are not aligned neatly, there is runny glaze and little bumps and dips and wrinkles and glazed over edge frits original to the making. The naïve and hasty style adds to the folksy charm. Offered as is. A wonderful naturalistic pattern. Richly detailed in an earthy and festive pattern. A perfect gift for the tropical bird lover in your life, or for any collector of early black and white transferware. We are always happy to combine shipping of multiple purchases. Please contact us with any questions or if you would like to see additional photos. Thank you for bidding! International Buyers– Please Note: Most of our merchandise is over 100 years old. Blue Transferware Teapot Set
I am a baby boomer and this has been in my family for many years. It is nice and shiny with a Castle scene. There is one tiny chip on the spout of the teapot. As seen in the closeup photo. Under the lid to the teapot there is some slight cracking which seem to just be on the surface and were probably made when it was glazed; the last two photos show it from both sides. Set includes the teapot with lid, tea caddy with lid, and open creamer.

Historical Staffordshire ~ADAMS SEA SHELLS ~ Dark Blue Transferware Teapot c1830
Historical Staffordshire Pearlware Dark Blue Transferware Teapot c1830 ~ Sea Shells Pattern ~ William Adams& Sons Eagle Mark ~ About 7" high to top of finial ~ 11" from spout to handle A large early Staffordshire pearlware teapot printed in very dark blue transferware with a pattern of seashells within scrolling cartouches by William Adams& Sons circa 1830. Displays beautifully but the lid is a marriage and there are a few colored in chips to the spout. The lid fits pretty well in place but not perfectly; it is an Enoch Wood seashell teapot lid. Probably from a Wadsworth Tower teapot, it has a steam hole. The lid is a pretty good color match to the teapot; underneath it has some pottery discoloration, a hairline and a small chip, see pics; the finial is original and never been off. There are a few chips at the spout painted ... moreblue some time ago that blend in pretty well. The teapot looks great on display. Please see all the pics to add to the description. It has a printed mark“Stone China” A small printed mark that I have not been able to identify, and a incised mark of marked of 35 under a half crescent. I think these marks maybe from Charles Meigh, Old Hall Works, Hanley, Stafford-shire. This would date the teapot to be between 1835 and 1849. I have not been able to identify the scene. There are two men who are fishing near a windowless building. For its age, it is in remarkable shape. As you can see from the photographs, there is a chip inside the teapot upon which the lid rests. There are a number of cracks that can be seen from both inside and outside the pot. The lid has a small chip on one corner. Staining is visible along the cracks. There are no signs of any repair.

Transferware Childs Teapot LADY WITH UMBRELLA Dog John Carr Northumberland 1870
Victorian Transferware Childs Tea Set Teapot LADY WITH PARASOL ~ NANNY CHILD& DOG John Carr& Sons Low Lights Pottery Northumberland England c1870 This is a gorgeous early transferware childs toy teapot. Circa 1870, originally part of a complete miniature childs tea set. The covered pitcher is transfer printed in rich sepia brown against a creamy earthenware blank, finished with blue ponded pearlware glaze. It stands 2 1/2” tall with an applied London handle. It measures 5 1/8" long. The piece is decorated with the image of a lady with a parasol, with a child and a dog. The lid is decorated with a net of flowers. The teapot is unmarked. The pattern is known to have been produced by John Carr. 19th century pottery manufactory in Northumberland and Scotland in the highlands along the border of England and Scotland. The pattern is ... moresometimes referred in Doris Lechler’s book English Toy China as‘Nanny Child and Dog’ figure 186. Discussed at page 185) The teapot displays beautifully and is in very good overall condition. There is a small chip inside the lid. A flake on the edge, and no other chips cracks or repairs. Stilt marks on the top edge, mild patina and glaze bubbles on the lid, minor typical transfer skips, original to the making. The workmanship is haphazard, which is one of the reasons many people collect it.not fine china, and not meant to be; it was made for children and probably considered disposable. The transfers are not aligned neatly, there is runny glaze and little bumps and dips and transfer wrinkles and glazed over edge frits original to the making. The naïve and hasty style adds to the folksy charm. The teapot is a charming example of the most winsome of Romantic genre patterns. Offered as is. We invite you to browse the rest of our auction listings this week. We are always happy to combine postage on multiple purchases. Please send us an email with any questions or if you would like to see additional photos. Thank you for bidding! International Buyers– Please Note: Our merchandise
