I'm not certain who made it. But it looks like Dr. Wall period 1770 or so. The glaze has a strong blue tint where it has pooled. It is Worcester type at least, possibly Liverpool, Pennington or Bristol. The paint is original and clean with only minor exterior wear on the pot. The tip of the spout has an old repair that is mostly cleaned off but still covers a chip to the end of the spout and there is a 1&3/4" glaze line with some associated discoloration extending down from it. You can't even get your finger nail to catch on it. The edge of the lid has two old fairly large chip repairs and two small repairs on the edge, none of which extends outside the rim area. Otherwise fine. Displays great. Measures 6" tall, 8&1/4" from spout to handle. Insurance is now included in the cost of Shipping. But you won't need it with our Professional Packaging! Worcester Barr Teapot Stand Oval late 18th C.
Worcester Barr Teapot Stand Oval late 18th C. F or auction an oval teapot stand numbered 271 in blue. The rim is slightly fluted and the piece is quite solid pottery. Not marked but appears to be Worcester Barr. No footring but instead potted flat. Decorated with a cobalt border surrounding a gilt ring to which are attached alternating tiny triangles and circles. The triangles are filled with a deep garnet. The circles cobalt with a gilded center. Along the rim of cobalt a running wreath of gilt flowers and leaves. In the very center is a small cluster of cobalt circles surrounded by leaves; just outside that an oval of gilding. H aving researched many reference books. Expecially Godden's"Guide to English Porcelain" 1978. 1992) has left me still mystefied as to the maker and date. Perhaps a more knowledgeable person would be ... morekind enough to identify this. But who would want this? Someone who is a better detective then I am. And someone who cherishes the very old examples of the potter and decorator's art! M easurement: about 6 3/4 inches in length and 4 7/8 inches across. C ondition: Now the sad part. Appears to have been repaired. The cobalt rim has a badly matched overpainting of blue on about half of the oval. The inner area of triangles and circles seems untouched and if this was broken it has been very well repaired. The gilding in some areas quite worn. T ERMS: Winning bidder pays $10.80 shipping and handling. Idaho purchaser agrees by bidding to pay 6% sales tax or provide me with signed resale card. I usually ship within two days of payment and use U.S.P.S. Note: eBay suggests you send your payment to the seller within 3 days. Thanks. Sales to U.S. only. DEERFIELDS invites you to visit our ME. The tip of the spout has an old repair that is mostly cleaned off but still covers a chip to the end of the spout and there ... moreis a 1&3/4" glaze line with some associated discoloration extending down from it. It is decorated with assorted scattered blooms with floral dot features on the spout and handle. This teapot is made of soapstone porcelain.
