Antique English Creamware Pottery Tea Pot, Wedgwood, c1770
An Antique English Wedgwood Ceramic Creamware Pottery Tea Pot with a strap handle moulded with overlapping leaves or scales ending in a neat foliate terminal. Also having an acorn finial and a"cabbage" or"overlapping leaf" spout. The puce enamel decoration is in the manner of James Bakewell, an enameller who worked for Wedgwood for many years. We date this tea pot to c1770. While unmarked. We attribute this tea pot to Wedgwood because of the spout, knop and handle. The handle and spout are both pictured in Robin Reilly's book, Wedgwood, The New Illustrated Dictionary" on pages 217 and 400. They are both the most easily identified of all Wedgwood handles and spouts. The knop, is also one of the usual types used by Wedgwood and is pictured on page 207, Plate V111, figure 3, of Donald Towner's book, Creamware. ... moreCONDITION: Restoration to spout and lid. Two minor haircracks also restored on either side of the lip. Some minor wear to the glaze. MEASUREMENTS: 6 1/2" High by 8" Wide from the tip of the spout to the handle. If you are in the Fairfield. Antique English Creamware Whieldon style Pottery Tea Pot c1770-1775
Antique English Creamware Whieldon style tortoise glaze pottery Tea Pot. Enameled in brown manganese. The entwined rope handles end in floral terminals. The rim is beeded as is the foot. The spout is ribbed and molded. The lid has a beeded rim and a floral finial ending in molded leaves. c1770-1780 The spout, handle, terminals and floral finial are all attributed to the Leeds Pottery, see Donald Towner's book, Creamware, pages 191-211. Early Leeds creamware, that made before 1775, was a deep cream color with a yellowish glaze. When you take a look at the pictures above, you'll see that accurately describes the color of this tea pot. CONDITION: There are minor chips on the inner rim(note picture#7) and a rim chip on the foot(note pictures 8 and 9) This pot has not had any restoration. A little background on Creamware and the Leeds ... morePottery: Cream-colored earthenware first appeared in Staffordshire sometime between 1730-1740. Production later spread to Derbyshire and Yorkshire and then to Europe. In the 1760s Josiah Wedgwood proved his genius for developing a superior material from a standard formula. After much experimentation with the addition of cornish Clay and china Stone, he literally"invented" a new ceramic body. At first the Wedgwood version was known as Queens Ware but as other competitors joined the hunt the material became known generically as Creamware. Of all the potteries which existed in South Yorkshire in the 18th Century. By far the most important one was the Leeds Pottery. While there is some debate regarding the founding of the factory-some say 1760, others 1770-it is with some certainty that one can say that its first pieces were being produced by the end of 1770. The crabstock handle and spout are enamel decorated in green. The enamel decorated lid has a simple acorn finial. c1780. CONDITION: Tiny hairline to spout restored MEASUREMENTS: 5 1/2" tall- 6 1/2 inches wide to the tip of the spout A Little Background on Salt Glaze: Salt Glaze pottery is exactly what the name implies. Stoneware which has had salt thrown in the kiln at a very high temperature. The volatized salt combines with the mineral elements of the clay leaving a thin coating. The end result leaves an outer layer with the minute"orange peel" pitting that is a characteristic of English Salt Glaze. While the technique dates sto the ... more15th Century in Germany, it was not until the late 17th Century that the potters of Staffordshire in England began producing it in any quantity. Salt Glaze was produced with various finishes; plain white, enameled and printed. Examples of all of these are in our inventory including"scratch blue" which has a relatively brief popularity. While Salt Glaze continued to be produced, the the mid 18th Century it was supplanted in the public affection by Creamware. Antique English Black Lead Glazed Engine Turned Jackfield Ware Tea Pot circa1760
Antique 18th Century English Black Leadglazed Engine Turned Jackfield Ware Tea Pot w/ Pseudo Chinese Seal This is a lovely piece of English 18th Century pottery- a Jackfield black leadglazed tea pot with beautiful engine turned detail. I belive this piece may have been made in the Whieldon Stafforshire pottery. Though many of the Staffordshire potteries made this type of ware. Whieldon's product tended to have a red body like this piece. The form of this tea pot has been modeled after the popular imported Chinese wares of the period, and it even has a pseudo Chinese mark on the base- a common practice among the English potteries of the period. It measures about 3 3/4" tall to the top of the button on the lid, 3 1/8" in diameter at the base, and about 6 1/4" wide across body, handle, and spout. The tea pot has some condition ... moreissues. The spout chipped a long time ago, and a pewter(may be silver) lip was attached so the piece could continue to be used- a fairly typical 18th Century repair method. I didn't try to clean the metal since buyers might have different ideas about cleaning. Another problem is the repaired lid- it was broken and glued back together in a manner which also suggests an old repair. And there is a small chip on the the base that isn't really noticeable when the pot is sitting on a shelf. Despite its' bumps and bruises(it is, after all, 250+ years old) this little tea pot is a classic form, and it still shows very well in a display. A great piece for the beginning collector, a nice addition to a type collection of 18th Century English wares, or perhaps a very special gift for that very special Mom on your Mother's Day list. Please note: Paypal is required for payment. And payment should be completed withrin 4 days of the close of bidding. I wrap and pack very carefully and ship USPS Priority mail. Please feel free to email me with any questions. And I will do my best to answer them. Thanks for your interest in this lovely antique tea pot.

Antique Late 1800's English Hand Painted Porcelain Tea Pot
Shown is an antique. Late 1800's, porcelain tea pot that is hand painted. This tea pot was made in England and is numbered, stamped, and marked.although I don't know whose mark it is. Through the research I've done, I've compared it to those who have had that same mark, although I haven't found more than a couple. The ones I found said this was made in 1891. This piece is in great pre-owned condition. There is one minor nick on the underside of the lid, pictured) and there are a couple places where the gold paint is thinning a wee bit, mostly on the spout. Nothing major. It is 5" tall and is about 8 1/2" across from handle to spout. It's difficult to see the colors clearly, but it's a dark brown tea pot with a gold, white, orange, and aqua design. Very pretty. What a super great collector's item. ... moreRest assured.we will pack this very carefully! Please refer to all photos. Thanks so much for looking!
Antique English Ceramic Creamware Mochaware Tea Pot Charming Toffee Color!
I've had a small rash of non-payers recently. Which I haven't fretted about, since in every case the second offering has yielded a wonderful new client I wouldn't have met otherwise. I won't weigh down this little beauty with the ponderous word"rare. but, truly, I haven't seen another remotely like it in thirty years of gazing intently at every piece of English pottery that strays within 500 yards of me. The color is simply delectable. As evidenced by the fact that I can't think of a single word to describe it that isn't yummy-butterscotch, toffee, farm fresh eggs. Much more than that. It will lift your spirits, as only antiques that have been loved for generations can do. In this connection, I see a wee cosmetic touch here and there, as illustrated in the photographs, but they are done with the aim of keeping ... moreup appearances merely, the way you would patch a favorite pair of jeans, certainly not to be deceiving or of making the piece posh enough for the company of snooty porcelain pieces in a glistening vitrine. Put it on your windowsill(with a little museum putty on its underside) and smile the day away. I don't know if I'm strictly correct in referring to it as mochaware. But it has that playfulness and is of the period and perhaps my fellow ebayers will enlighten me(gently! Study the photographs and please ask questions. I always answer swiftly, honestly, and at length; glance at my feedback and you'll see how well this has served me. And please give this little honey a home. Because it will serve you faithfully.

CHAMBERLAIN WORCESTER old antique Fine Art PORCELAIN Tea Pot English China 19thC
Up for sale here is a vintage. Antique circa 1840s or earlier Chamberlain Worcester finely executed hand painted Tea Pot. We will also be listing matching cups, saucers, cream and sugar so be sure to check out our other listings) This Tea Pot is decorated in what looks like a Japanese Tea House pattern because you can see what looks like a Japanese House painted around the bottom. The Tea Pot measures 11 1/2 inches from handle to spout, 5 1/2 inches in width in the middle by about 6 1/2 inches high from the bottom to the top of the lid's finial. The Tea Pot has a red hand painted signature under the lid which reads"Chamberlain Worcester Warrant" and what looks like the pattern number 323. There are a few major condition issues to not with the piece. There is a 3/8ths of an inch chip of porcelain missing from the edge of the ... moreTea Pot's lid. The lid is not cracked or repaired but it does have the chip. There are also some old spots of tape adhesive where it looks to have had the lid taped down at one time to keep it from falling off, those spots are not major and can be cleaned. There is a 1/8th of an inch diameter chip missing from the very tip of the spout The most major defect, though it is not really visible is a 4 inch hairline stress or heat crack. The line extends from the navy blue decoration above the spout and curves around to the right diagonally to the red orange paint, it does not run around the spout and the decoration is intact through most of the hairline except for one very tiny spot behind the spot. The handle is in good shape and not damaged. The piece is also very sound the hairline appears to tight though when you gently tap the piece you can tell that it is there. This is a very elaborately decorated Chamberlains piece and is in a pattern I have not seen before. There is a lot of workmanship in it. If you collect rare English China, Chamberlains or Tea Pots this would make a nice addition to your collection despite the flaws since it is difficult to come by. Thank you very muc

There is a very tiny chip in the spout as seen in the picture, but not very noticeable. It is about 5 inches tall and 9 1/2 inches from spout to handle. The bowl is about 5 1/2 inches in diameter. The knob on the cap of the pot was broken off and has been professionally re-affixed hardly noticeable if at all. The rest of the pot is nearly perfect which is very rare of this type of soft paste porcelain especially this old. It is 11 inches long from spout to the handle. 8 inches tall, 6 inches wide and is truly a very delightful piece with it's shape and deep cobalt color. If the pot was perfect this listed price would be doubled at least. Please visit our Ebay store to view other fine art works. Antiques and collectibles.
Whimsical Antique English Tea Pot Set
The wounded warriors of the glorious tea era of England are up for auction. Whimsical and a clay artist's creative talent are displayed in this remarkable 5 piece Tea set. I have yet to find the manufacturer but I suspect Coalport as the way the flowers are hand painted. In fact the whole set is hand painted and surprisingly no gold loss for something this old. Are these musical notes? The number on all pieces is in pale black 7064 with the teapot with 3 dots in a triangle and the rest are a line and 3 dots below. Some date marks might be in the 1850's( There is nary a chip on any one of the pieces but cracks are another matter. Starting with the teapot it has cracks as pictured but doesn't leak and the lid has a crack. The sugar bowl has a crack on the rim. The creamer's handle has been repaired. One saucer has ingeniously ... morebeen repaired with staples. An old English method to restore something of value. The second one is cracked and needs no repair. The good news is that the cups are in great condition which usually goes first. It is all pictured. The teapot is a large size: from spout to handle is 11 inches. 8 1/4 inches in height and the bottom is 4 1/4 by 4 1/4 inches. The cups are 4 inches in diameter and 2 inches in height. The saucers are 8 inches in diameter. The sugar is from handle to handle 7 3/8 inches. Bottom to top 7 inches and the bottom is 3 3/4 inches. The creamer is spout to handle is 5 inches. Bottom to top is 6 1/2 inches, bottom is 2 1/2 by 2 1/2 inches. This a big sized set. Despite the condition it makes for a fabulous display of English tea history and the remarkable ability of the clay work of a different era. The eye catcher that it is. Would be great for a tea shop owner, a prop for a play or movie, a tea party or one can have a Downton Abbey party. It really is an amazing tea set that is part of an old history of quality time for tea and chat and served with grandeur.
