Antique, "Sudlow's Burslem" Porcelain Teapot, Made in England - Very Old
Beautiful. Antique Teapot, bottom is stamped"Sudlow's Burslem" and imprinted into the procelain is"Made in England" Teapot measures 9" wide from spout tip to handle tip; and 6" tall to the top of the lip finial; snf 4-1/2" deep. Color is a deep Cream with lots of Gold-Leaf raised& flat decorations. Teapot appears to be very old as it has lots of crazing(please look closely at pictures#2& 4) Other than the crazing, which I think adds to it's vintage charm, it is in good vintage condition- no chips or cracks. Age is unknown, but this came from Riverhouse Antiques in New York, who recently retired its long-time business. A great collector's item at a reasonable price. RARE Antique Sudlow Burslem Teapot - 02025
Sudlow Burslem Teapot UP for auction is a VERY RARE Sudlow teapot. Dates somewhere from 1915-1930. Numbered on the bottom-02025(or they COULD be 07075-hard to tell as it was written by hand) The stain in the photo on the bottom of the teapot(last photo) has come off. I took the photo before it was cleaned good and it is gone. Sorry. The gold is still in pretty good shape. Usual wear and tear for something of it's age. The glazing does have some crazing. You can see it very well in the photo. Most prevalent on the bottom and the inside. This was definately someone's favorite tea pot at one time! The teapot measures approx. 8.5 inches from spout to handle edges. 5 inches tall. There is some crazing marks across the bottom(not sure if you call it crazing so please see photos) Otherwise the teapot is in nice condition with some of the gold trim wearing on the lid as you can see in the photos also. The teapot. I believe from the hallmarks is from 1894-1895. Pattern number I believe is C6238 With this hallmark with England at the bottom 1886– 1902 Coronet added to mark the appoinment of Henry Doulton as Potter to HRH The Prince of Wales. A small teapot. With an unusual metal lid, possibly aluminium, and a round hard wood finial. It was made around 1884, by H J Wood, Burslem, Staffordshire, at their Alexandra Factory. It has hand painted Imari coloured flowers on each side and a ribbed collar around the lid. The only thing to mention is some wear to the gilding. It is an earthenware piece and has no chips, cracks or crazing. I bought this more than 30 years back, in UK, and I have to be realistic about moving some of my treasures on! It measures 120mm to top of collar, 85mm to shoulders. It is 21 cms spout to handle and approx 10 cms wide. It would hold 2- 3 cups. Offered from my personal collection is this vintage pre-war Sadler Burslem England teapot in rich dark brown with a wide band of marbleized beige at the top with gold trim limited to the lid finial. Short and somewhat squat. This teapot measures 9" wide from tip of spout to edge of handle, 3½" in diameter at the rim and 4" in diameter at the base. At its widest the bowl is 6½" in diameter and the pot stands about 5½" tall including the lid. In good vintage condition with a small chip and general roughness at the tip of the spout; otherwise no chips or cracks. There is some crazing most visible in direct light in the cream colored band.
