They are similar as far as their pedestal, 12 paneled design, weight, coloration(even in the grayish-blue tint of the white) close in decoration, and fine crazing. Both feature black transfer scenics, front and back, with a detail of the scene inside on the bottom. An elaborate geometric inside collar with pretty borders is seen at the top inside. The taller one has a British registry mark. Smaller is without. These are two nice early pieces to add to a British transferware collection. It looks artificially light in some of the pictures. I turned the camera exposure up so you could see the detail it the design, the true color is the dark color in some of the pictures, the correct dark basalt color. SIZE: The teapot is just under 7.25 inches tall. And is approximately 10 inches from handle to spout. CONDITION: There are flakes to the tip of the spout and around the edge of the lid- the pen is pointing to these in the close up pictures. c.1820's antique Staffordshire BLACK BASALT ceramic Teapot w/Spaniel finial lid
This c.1810-1830 black basalt teapot is called a"bachelor's" teapot because of its small size and measures 4 3/4" high to the top of the spaniel finial and its about 5" wide at mid section. This has a beautiful floral design throughout and has a dog finial on lid. It is unmarked but the pattern is similar to teapot designs made by Wedgewood during the early 1800's and copied by other Staffordshire pottery houses. Condition: one large chip on underside of lid which is barely visable on outside; some flea bites along rim of spout and one tiny nick on rim of main body and a barely noticeable hairline on bottom/base. The overall look is quite pleasing(see first two photos) and the fore mentioned issues are not noticeable unless you put it under scrutiny and a magnifier and take off the lid. Please read carefully as it is fairly and accurately detailed. There are no cracks or stains. There is a tiny bit of crazing(seen only in three areas- white paws of spout, underside of head when tipped upside down and removed, and finally the actual bottom of teapot) as is common with this item on most pieces offered for sale. There is an imperfection on the inside rim edge of the pot. At first glance. It looks like a nick, but if you examine it carefully(and I really tried) there is glaze over a portion of it, so my best guess is that it was in the manufacturing process. I cannot guarantee that, so please take a look as I tried to capture the area and see if it is bothersome. Only exposed if you have the head of the dog off. ALSO another imperfection and glazed over a a thin white line that was left uncolored, very small also on underside of head, should be noted. Have had this piece for years and hard to part with it. With approximate measurements: Six(6) cups(2.5" high) Six(6) saucers(5.5" across) One(1) serving platter(9" across) Five(5) individual plates(6" across) One(1) creamer(4" high) One(1) sugar bowl(5.5" across by 2" high) Two of the cups have a crack. As shown in a couple of the group photos, and I think there must have been one additional serving plates as there are 5 instead of 6. Each of the pieces is predominately white, with a silver-and-black design of two steaming cups of coffee or tea. And, each of the pieces is rimmed with silver, and each cup handle is also painted silver. Antique Victorian Enameled Redware Teapot w Tile Trivet ~ Florals on Black
This gorgeous antique teapot is adorned with a hand-painted Victorian decoration of winding sprigs of pink blossoms with green and gold leaves. All against a glossy black ground. It features a classic 6-sided form with touches of gold gilding on the high points. Best of all, this teapot still has its matching tile or trivet, truly a rare thing these days! The bottom of the teapot and trivet reveal that they were cast from fine red clay, hence they are"redware. There is a hand-painted decorator's mark on the bottom of the teapot, but no manufacturer's mark. This, together with the styling, suggests it dates to the late Victorian era, i.e. the late 1800s. English black basalt teapot with lid made by Neale& Wilson between 1783 and 1790. This late 18th century piece is done in a spherical form with a ruffled rim along the top. The lid has a full-bodied finial in the form of a mourning widow. This piece is illustrated in Diana Edwards Neale Pottery& Porcelain p. 82, pl. 56. Lovely old tea pot in colors of ivory. Sand, black and much gold. I have no other info on this tea pot as I purchased it at an estate sale of a person who collected for 80 years and had a penchant for Oriental items. It measures almost ten inches wide and seven and a half inches high. I found no chips, but there is soft wearing of the gold, especially on the edge of the tip of the lid. It gives it an age patina. If you collect tea pots, this would be an uncommon addition to your collection.

Antique English Black Lead Glazed Engine Turned Jackfield Ware Tea Pot circa1760
Antique 18th Century English Black Leadglazed Engine Turned Jackfield Ware Tea Pot w/ Pseudo Chinese Seal This is a lovely piece of English 18th Century pottery- a Jackfield black leadglazed tea pot with beautiful engine turned detail. I belive this piece may have been made in the Whieldon Stafforshire pottery. Though many of the Staffordshire potteries made this type of ware. Whieldon's product tended to have a red body like this piece. The form of this tea pot has been modeled after the popular imported Chinese wares of the period, and it even has a pseudo Chinese mark on the base- a common practice among the English potteries of the period. It measures about 3 3/4" tall to the top of the button on the lid, 3 1/8" in diameter at the base, and about 6 1/4" wide across body, handle,and spout. The tea pot has some condition ... moreissues. The spout chipped a long time ago, and a pewter(may be silver) lip was attached so the piece could continue to be used- a fairly typical 18th Century repair method. I didn't try to clean the metal since buyers might have different ideas about cleaning. Another problem is the repaired lid- it was broken and glued back together in a manner which also suggests an old repair. And there is a small chip on the the base that isn't really noticeable when the pot is sitting on a shelf. Despite its' bumps and bruises(it is, after all, 250+ years old) this little tea pot is a classic form, and it still shows very well in a display. A great piece for the beginning collector, a nice addition to a type collection of 18th Century English wares, or perhaps a very special gift for that very special Mom on your Mother's Day list. Early 1800's Black Basalt Jasperware Teapot - provenance known Antique
From an estate(see Provenance below)A very old black Basalt Jasperware Teapot. This early piece is unmarked but could be attributed to Wedgwood. Probably made in the early part of the 1800s. The teapot is in a neo-classical style. It’s lid is topped with a wonderfully detailed resting female form. An acanthus motif appears on the handle. Bands are scribed in the sides and on the lid. The piece measures 7" wide handle to end of spot. And 4 1/4" tall. There is some damage(chips) at the thinnest areas.only on the spout and on the edges of the lid. I have not attempted to clean the pot and have photographed it as it was found in the back of a corner cupboard. The teapot had a little note tucked inside. this teapot was a wedding gift to the great grandmother of GKB. Her name was Jane Burbeck(or Burbeek? This is a Vintage/Antique Erphila Cat Teapot marked 6700A. It is so cute and very shiny! It is black and white with a pink bow around the neck. The tail is shaped to be the handle. It is marked"Made in Western Germany" It is 9 inches tall. I do not notice any crazing(what I thought might be crazing was actually the markings of the cat fur) and there are no chips or nicks. There is a fine crack down the middle of the the body lengthwise approximate 3 inches(see pictures) It is on one side only(the tied-bow side) and not very noticeable on certain angles of viewing. Antique Black Basalt Teapot – Beautiful Classical Relief Design
Offered is an antique black basalt teapot measuring 11” from spout to handle. 4” wide and 7” tall to the tip of the spout. I was told it dates to circa 1780– 1810, however, I am not an expert in this type of ceramics and do not know for sure. I can find no maker’s marks. It is beautifully detailed… a crown over the cartouche, human-faced lion, rearing horse, cherubs, leaves and other designs… all with exceptional relief. There are some flaws… the spout has a small chip on the underside and shows wear, as does the center band around the spout; there are two chips on the underside of the lid which extend slightly to the edge. Despite these flaws, it displays beautifully and is an excellent example of this classic design. Please carefully view photos… they are the most important part of the description. It is not marked but was made in England ca. 1830's probably in Staffordshire. It measures 5-1/2" long(handle to spout) and 3-3/4" high(to top of handle) Condition is excellent. There is a small chip at the end of the spout and a fleabite on the underside standing rim(see last 2 close-up pictures) Apart from that there is no damage: no other chips. No cracks and no repairs or restoration. Please excuse any glares(white patches) that you may see in the pictures. c. 1800's Antique English Black& White Transferware Tea Pot: a very nice. Very old, small teapot. There is wear on this item, shown clearly in the pictures including crackle, small chips and wear. The piece is very cute and would fit a modern or traditional setting. The piece measures 4" tall with top and 7" long from handle to spout and a little over 3" wide. Antique 1880s Black Basalt Teapot Widow Finial Staffordshire England Restored Description c. Early 1800s/19th century matte black basalt teapot. Decorated with Neo-Classical scenes in relief. Lid has widow finial. SIZE: Approximately 9 1/2" wide spout tip to handle edge. About 6 1/2" tall to top of finial. MARKS: Unmarked. Not atypical of the period. I don't know the maker, but the form of the teapot looks very similar to some John and William Turner pieces. I am sure if you are an expert in this area of collecting, you should be able to identify the maker by the form and decor. CONDITION: Antique item. At some point in its history. The pot portion of this teapot has been professionally restored. The damage was significant. But the restoration is very well done. Also. There is damage along one end of the lid which has been smoothed ... moreout(nothing sharp) Small nicks/losses- one on bottom edge, one on interior rim, one on handle. To attempt to show you as much of the restoration as possible, the images have been super-enlarged and brightened significantly. The restoration is more visible on the interior than the exterior. I tried to capture this by holding the teapot under bright overhead light and capturing the light hitting the interior. Please review all the enlarged photos below as they are a material part of the description. Notwithstanding the restoration. The teapot presents beautifully and is wonderful for display.
