Superb Antique White Ironstone Teapot Powell & Bishop Wheat in Meadow c1869
This auction is for an Outstanding and Rare Antique White Ironstone Teapot or Coffee Pot in the Wheat in the Meadow pattern made by Powell& Bishop of Hanley. England circa 1869. It is in Remarkable Condition. Especially for that age. There are no cracks or repairs of stains in the pot or the lid. The ironstone is white and the glaze clear and glossy throughout. There is a Very Tiny fleabite in the bottom of the pot that is very hard to see(last photo) and doesn't detract from the overall appeal of this Great Find. The pot has a neatly molded or embossed pattern of hanging Wheat Stalks and Prarie Flowers. The piece measures about 10 inches tall to the top of the lid finial and about 9 1/4 inches from the spout to the handle. It has a black Powell& Bishop backstamp as well as a British Registration Diamond which indicates the pattern ... morewas registered in 1869. Please check my other auctions. I do not know who made it but it is marked on the bottom with Victorian Registration Marks& Kitemarks(see picture) My best interrupitation of the makrs indicate that this pattern was registered in 1882. The piece is in great condition with no crack. Chips or glazing. The colors are clear and vibrant. This auction is for a Lovely Antique White Ironstone Teapot made by Powell& Bishop of Hanley. England circa 1867. It is in Very Good Condition. Especially for its age. There are no chips or cracks or repairs of stains in the pot or the lid with the exception of a very small manufacturing flaw that appears to be under the glaze in the very inside of the pot's lid seat(last photo) It it hard to spot and can only be seen when the lid is off. The ironstone is white and the glaze clear and glossy throughout. There pot is beautiful in its simple. Utilitarian design with no embossing or molding other than a small raised diamond design on the lid handle. The pot measures about 9 inches tall to the top of the lid. Antique English White Ironstone Teapot Gothic Holland & Green 1854 Staffordshire
A fabulous antique English white ironstone teapot in the rare"Gothic" pattern. Made by Holland& Green around 1854. The teapot is a beautiful specimen and displays very well with some issues commensurate with age. The spout has been expertly reattached with only a very, very fine line visible that looks like a craze line. The lid appears just slightly too small and lacks a vent hole, which leads me to believe it is a sugar bowl lid from the same set. Fine glaze crazing throughout the teapot with some faint areas of discoloration, but overall it is clean and white. Three small flakes to the inner rim which are covered by the lid, and one fine short hairline on the rim by the handle. This is minor.
