Sets such as this were once common. The longer candle-style chandelier was meant for the dining room table. With the shorter down-bulb was for the adjacent living room. You can use this set in the same way, or perhaps in your newly renovated kitchen! Please note the beautifully detailed leaves which the glass drops hang from. And the delicate blue flowers. Soooooo pretty and sweet! What’s also so nice about this set is how original they are. They retain their original canopies. Socket rings, and glass drops. THE BACK STORY: The fixture was made by a company in Topeka. Kansas. Remember that far far away time when things were made in the USA? Anyway. The company closed in the 1960s. At the liquidation sale, a man purchased thousands of still-in-the-box lights and stored them in the massive attic of his business. Most are still there. You can imagine my excitement discovering this Aladdin’s cave of treasure! I HAVE MORE: If you need more just type the amount needed into QUANTITY(just above the Buy It Now button) The fixture has stamped copper fittings. And with an antique finish– like an old copper penny. The glass shade is a Fresnel type. And I do love a Fresnel shade. Note also the nice copper rim to the shade bottom– a protective device. You can see the obvious Eames-era shaping of the ceiling mount. The fixture was intended for a covered porch but would also look very good indoors. The fixture is. Of course, in mint condition. This is meant for the middle of a kitchen. ONE 6-1/2-inch wide 1-bulb fixture! This is meant for over a kitchen sink. ABOUT LIGHTOLIER Beginning in the 1920s. And for many decades thereafter, the Lightolier Company(extant today of course) made some of the very finest fixtures. Their designs were always simply dazzling, and the quality was the very very very best. When you restore vintage lights such as I do, these aspects are so obvious they tend to jump out. It’s always a particular pleasure restoring a Lightolier! The fixtures are typically Lightolier in being rather ingenious. The shades have little leg-like extensions on top. Creating a space between the shade proper and the chrome fitter above. The finial has pierced openings. The reason for all this? You can use 100W bulbs without the fixtures overheating. The heat from the bulbs will create an air current. This will draw cool air up through the openings in the finial. And out through the openings between the shade legs. Clever? I think so! The shades are also striking. The edges have very thin raised lines. And the bottoms have a highly textured, dimpled surface. Nice. The smaller fixture is especially adorable. Each glass shade has minor issues(see last images) The larger shade has two tiny chips. The small shade has three.

These are beautifully made, high-quality brass fixtures. The brass has a gold finish. And with accents of blue and red. All original, and in excellent condition. ABOUT THE RESTORATION SCHEDULE: The fixtures are not yet restored. This will take up to two weeks after payment is received. I will fully rewire the fixtures. And put on new paper insulators. The vertical wires will be cloth-covered like the original. The original finishes, as noted, looks great and I will retain this. I particularly like the shape of the chandeliers. The arms are wonderfully curvaceous. And the dazzling filigree center bodies are kinda like a vase. The fixtures are remarkably elegant. I also love the original and distinctive finials. And chain flourishes. Nice. The two-toned canopies and chains appear to be original, too. The sconces are stunning. Too, and rich with detail and relief. Wow. Wow! I don’t know who made the fixtures. Due to the quality of the materials and manufacturing. I suspect Lightolier or Halcolite. This set will be shipped wholly restored. Ready to hang, and with all the mounting hardware needed! I’m certain it’s not earlier or later. I’m certain. Too, as to its beauty. And rarity. I’ve never offered a chandelier like it. All the metal components appear to have a pewter finish. Nice. Each arm has distinctive crystals. The hurricane shades are particularly lovely; that they remain in situ is frankly amazing. I also like the expressive glass stem. The chandelier is clearly modeled after an Argand lamp. From Wikipedia: The Argand lamp was new to Thomas Jefferson in Paris in 1784. Which according to him gave off"a light equal to six or eight candles. These new lamps. While more complex and costly than the previous primitive oil lamps, were first adopted by the well-to-do but soon spread to the middle classes and eventually the less well-off as well. Argand lamps were manufactured in a great variety of decorative forms and quickly became popular in America. This fixture is. Obviously, a delightfully faux Argand lamp chandelier. The chain is original. As is the ceiling canopy. The exposed wire is cloth-covered like the original. I would say the the chandelier. At 17-1/2-inches wide. Is medium in scale. To me.
