I believe this is an early French fixture which was completely restored in the 1980s. Solid bronze, very heavy. Overall good condition. One drop shade is cracked and repaired. Another shade with several small chips. Oxidation to the gilt surface. Especially around the drop bulb sockets. All wiring is good. HALL LANTERN.FRENCH.GILT BRONZE. AMAZING GLASS. VINTAGE C1930s.TRADITIONAL SHAPE
I have for auction this fabulous gilt bronze traditional hall lantern. It is french and was found in a house clearance here in the South of France, so it is vintage, I have not cleaned the lantern except for the glass, I understand that some dealers do not like their metal ware cleaned, but I am sure it will be much brighter still with cleaning if you want it to be. I would think it will date to C1930s, it is wired for use, but this is old wiring and with all second hand electrical items, it is always wise to have this checked out before use, it is designed to take two standard edison screw type light bulbs, the light bulbs displayed in the chandelier are for display only and are not part of this auction. This classic style of hall lantern is highly sought after at present, you often see them displayed in beautiful homes in the high end interior ... moredesigners magazines, adding great style and class to any entrance hall. This lantern is a beautiful early example, it is lovely quality, it would have been very expensive when first purchased. What I love so much ab out this lantern is the wonderf u l glass cylinder shaped liner. The glass has so much charact e r. That you get with early glass, such as the wavey fluid like effect. It emphasizes it's age and adds great charm. The maximum drop from the ornate ceiling rose is approx 19.5" or 50cms, this could be easily lengthened or shortened by adding or removing chain, the diameter is approx 7.25" or 18.5cms. These are simply gorgeous and exquisite in design and will be a main focal point when you enter the room. I have for auction this magnificent genuine antique gilt bronze and fine french crystal chandelier. It will date to the late 1800s, it came to me through a house clearance here in the South of France, as you can see in my photo's, this chandelier is for candles, as it was originally, in approx the 1920s/1930s it was wired for electricity, but this wiring was so old and distressed. It literally d i solved in my hands. So it has been removed and put back to its original state, I still have some of the old bulb holders and faux candles from the 1920s. Made of wood, please see last photo, I am happy to include these for you in this sale; I am sure it could be easily and inexpensively changed back to be lit by electricity if required. Just i magine how spectacular it will look lit. Especially in a beautiful antique interior. This chande lier would have cost a fortune when first purchased. The condition is good commensurate with it's age. The maximum drop is approx 29" or 74cms. This can easily be lengthened if need be by adding chain, the maximum diameter is 19.75" or 50cms. FABULOUS lot of 3 old French 2-light wall sconces. They feature detailed ribbon/flower/rosettes surrounding old silver backed mirrors. They came out of the British ambassador's home in Portland. OR(when we had an ambassador) and are VERY charming. I have shown what they look like with shades(not included) They measure approx. 11 1/2" tall(from top of candle to bottom of fixture) x 8" wide. They weer rewired in the 70's(I was told) and work perfectly.

We are pleased to offer this EXCEPTIONAL AND RARE DESIGN. Antique(c1940s) French wall sconce lamps. This grand pair mimic climbing rose bushes which are attached to center poles/stakes. The vines/branches and leaves are gilded iron tole with ivory/white porcelain roses in full bloom. Each sconce features 7 porcelain roses. The sconces are quite grand in size and measure 29" tall. They have ornate wall plates of gilded bronze or brass with a flower petal design surrounded with a beaded pattern. Long arms extend the sconces out from the wall for an even grander effect. The sconces operate with one regular sized, 60 watt bulb(not the small candelabra type bulbs) Each sconce retains their original harp and finial. The finials are also porcelain roses. Henri Vian was famous for his bronze work, particularly lighting. He exhibited at the Paris Universal Exhibitions in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. His wife took over the running of the foundry after his death until C1941. I would say that the sconces are dated to the early part of the 20 th century. They are in beautiful condition. Stunning antique Art Nouveau French crystal Chandelier. Gilt brass with yards of crystal chains and 48 crystal prisms. It has 6 lights. And it measures 26" across, is 15" tall(not including the prisms) and hangs about 37" from the canopy down to the prisms. Fabulous Art Nouveau details with flowers and leaves! Cleaned. Restored, and rewired with period correct cloth wire. The chandelier is original except for the chain and loop.
