Produced by Verreries des Hanots in the 30ies this shade does not exist with a signature. It is represented in numerous catalogues of lamp producers for instance Hettier& Vincent made several fixtures for this model. In an old Holophane(Hanots and Verlys) catalogue is is represented under#8547'Laterne Juive' the Jewish Lantern) I was not able to trace down the maker of the fixture. I found several of these mountings in cast brass or bronze and originaly they were covered by green paint. I had them nickel plated and patinated. The lamp is in excellent condition. With massive construction and fine Louis XVI styling and details. It is nicely patinated to a medium bronze color and we did not attempt any restoration or polishing. This is a counterweighted chandelier that can be easily adjusted up and down. However, the adjustment chains are short and not much adjustment is presently available(replacing the chains would solve this if additional height adjustment is desired) The wiring and socket are old and in poor condition and must be replaced before use. I believe this is an early French fixture which was completely restored in the 1980s. Solid bronze, very heavy. Overall good condition. One drop shade is cracked and repaired. Another shade with several small chips. Oxidation to the gilt surface. Especially around the drop bulb sockets. All wiring is good.
