Hi folks! here for your bidding consideration is this victorian era original candleabra framed wall sconce. I believe the piece to be made from bronze and brass and it measures 17" long from the top of the bow to the very bottom underneath the middle candle holder and just a little over 11 1/2" across the center front outside edge. Also measuring just shy of 11 1/4" from the back inside edge where a mirror or picture would be held and 36 1/2" all the way around the circle frame. As seen it has 3 seperate candle holders highly decorated with ornate molded florals& leaves. Detailed raised trim beading and what looks like a hand hammered top bow& ribbons. On the back is missing a couple of metal brackets which hold the mirror or picture inside the frame. The piece looks solid& free any breaks with no signs of ... moreany repairs. It's in a naturally aged patina no polishing and other than some naturally aged ware& tare such as tarnish as shown. A good polish will bring out it's beauty. It originally had a central oil lamp with a ring of 9 candles around the perimeter. The oil lamp is now converted to hold an electric bulb. The bronzework on this chandelier is superb. With massive construction and fine Louis XVI styling and details. It is nicely patinated to a medium bronze color and we did not attempt any restoration or polishing. This is a counterweighted chandelier that can be easily adjusted up and down. However, the adjustment chains are short and not much adjustment is presently available(replacing the chains would solve this if additional height adjustment is desired) The wiring and socket are old and in poor condition and must be replaced before use. This is a very special pair of vintage French Rococo wall lights with etched opaque glass shades. They are very large and really impressive when seen in the flesh- much larger than they appear in the photo's. A really beautiful design with foliate detail and a lovely scallop shell at the base- all typical rococo motifs. Please look at the photo's to really appreciate these. They are probably around 30 years old and made from very heavy solid bronze. These would have cost a fortune new. We dismantled them in our workshop and completely rewired them with new brass bulb holders so now in full working order again. I believe this is an early French fixture which was completely restored in the 1980s. Solid bronze, very heavy. Overall good condition. One drop shade is cracked and repaired. Another shade with several small chips. Oxidation to the gilt surface. Especially around the drop bulb sockets. All wiring is good. Socket mounting requires a threaded pipe, which comes with all the mounting parts as removed from the estate. Measurements: 32″H x 25″DIA.
