It is made from solid brass which has acquired a nice patina over the years. There is a ribbed central band with two cherubs in the centre holding a laurel wreath in classical style. Below this there are three tiers of crystals. Octagon and icicle drops. The light is inside the frame so that it shines through the crystals when lit creating a delightful effect. This 50-60 year old gold painted European cast white metal hanging sconce(no candle sockets) measures 21” tall x 9 ½” wide x 5” deep and has nicely rendered detail and bold design. The full round bust of a putto rises from an elaborate baroque corbel to embrace the projecting arms and the whole is surmounted by an elaborate bowknot. These sconces are very rare and may be one of a kind. Up for auction is a beautiful pair of antique French Bronze Cherub/Angel Wall Sconces/Lamps. The globes have raised gold leaves on them as seen in pictures. They measure approx. 19 inches high and 11 inches deep. They were acquired as part of an estate sale so I don't know a lot about them. They appear to have their original wiring and would need to be rewired.
